Two 'bomb' scares in London in the past 24 hours as well. One at Baker Street last night, and Enfield this morning.

Thoughts go out to those in Mali.

Another barbaric act from religious lunatics. There are 10 chinese nationals in the hotel if they had any sense they wouldn't harm them unless they want to see retaliation from the Chinese government.

Another point as well - and this might just be me here - but does the term 'Live coverage' sit a bit awkwardly with any of you when there's a bomb scare? Insinuates to me that it's an event like a football game and there'll be a highlights show afterwards, hate the way its expressed.

Even if they're killed, China won't retaliate any more than any other nation would, I don't imagine.

They'd have reason too though. The very last thing the IS want to do is get China's back up. That effectively sets the entire world immediately against them. How much patience would China have? Not much would think.

Indeed, two countries you don't want to mess with are Russia and China; they already have Russia on them now, they don't need China on their case as well. Those two countries do not mess about.

Is this IS? Genuine question.

China won't react any more than other nations would in this situation, for me.

I think China has a lot more patience than, say, the US or Russia or France or the UK when it comes to military action on foreign soil btw.

They might join some airstrikes. Might. I'd lean towards them not doing so. But so what if they do anyway, in the grand scheme of things. It'll be Chinese bombs being dropped instead of French or American or whoever's.

They're not going to send the PLA in.

Again though mate, I don't really agree with the theme here.

I do agree neither country messes about, but their non-messing about is pretty different in reality.

When was the last time China mobilised an armed force on/in a territory they don't consider their own?

When was the last time there was a genuine provocation for them to do so though?

Apologies for any thread derailing.

BBC said forces have stormed the hotel. 80 freed so far. Praying that number will rise further.

Stagat is right. Chinese government don't want to anger muslim population in China. And the government would not like to be seen as a military threat to any other countries.
But hopefully, things like this can stop some idiots from focusing too much on Japan and help them learn who could become a real threat to our country.

Just seen this, immediately think "FFS not another". Although thankfully so far the casualties seem limited?
Reports call it "suspected Islamists" at the moment, so could be any group.

Mali has been facing a insurgency for the last couple of years. I know Timbuktu was occupied for a while but not sure if it still is. Unfortunately this sort of attack has probably been on the cards for a long time.

"Al-Mourabitoun, a group based in northern Mali and made up mostly of Tuaregs and Arabs, posted a message on Twitter saying it was behind the attack on the Radisson Blu hotel, where hostages are still being held."

Eighteen casualties it seems. The rest have been freed/escaped.

Reports of more deaths coming in now but yeah, as sad as it isn't quite as bad as it could have been.

We could very easily have been speaking of Paris level casualties.

Won't it save you a lot of time and money if people from those countries come visiting you instead? You only got four left. :2thumb:

You're lucky Theresa May hasn't got the snoopers charter passed yet.
