Away trip of the century, El Glassico, (Plymouth v Carlisle)

Carlisle away to Plymouth on a Tuesday night.

As we search for either our first win, or at least to maintain our unbeaten record, this is a toughie, but confidence seems high in the camp and Jabo will be feeling invincible right about now. I'm sure Plymouth will feel pretty confident of getting their first home points of the campaign, I don't know what kind of football they're playing at the moment, whether they're still set up to win games 1-0. Hopefully we go into this game looking for goals again.

Jabo scored one on his debut... he scored two in his second game and bagged a hat-trick in his third... my money's on him to score four on Tuesday, so can Plymouth score as fast as Jabo can?

*Once you get a star like Rakish Bingham playing at this level, people start to notice what this division has to offer

Speaking as a Hartlepool fan , Plymouth and Carlisle are connected by a motorway system and a main rail line , admittedly you have Bristol trying it's best to be awkward , but it's not the worst journey in the world

I'm just saying ..... you have a proper train service and a lovely smooth motorway .... its 3 hours by train Carlisle to Hartlepool on a class 142 , it won't be much more on a nice virgin train designed for humans to sit on going to Plymouth .... as I've said before would it have killed the FL to have us at home to Plymouth on Fri night / sat lunch and to you on Mon night and have Exeter doing it the other way then reverse that later on ?

Even from this far away, your suggestion make very good sense. I cant believe that they would put this fixture on a Tuesday night. Maybe the person that does the fixtures does not have a map. Maybe the 2 clubs could just ring each other and organise a draw in each match or play at a half way ground between the 2 clubs. any way Plymouth to win 3-2 at least that way the 4 Carlisle supporter will get a couple of goals to shout about.

One things for certain , the fans are at the bottom of the consideration list .....these big journeys , same as London , makes sense and a sellable idea to the missus if it's a weekend , to take 2 days unpaid off work during the week for a footy match doesn't go down well and can seriously damage your chances of " special cuddles "

Tough game but if we cut out the individual errors it's a game we can win.

Our wingers/wing backs need to operate slightly deeper to give us a bit more protection down the sides. I'd like to see McQueen start at RWB, Brough at LWB but to play primarily as defenders but getting forward when the opportunity arises. All this wing backs playing alongside the 2 strikers will be asking for trouble away from home.

Miller isn't really a natural centre back I don't think, and Grainger never has been and never will be, so Raynes was the only real centre back in our back three. Thompson looked good going forward but not defensively, I never thought he would be seen as a wing back, and often Miller and Thompson seemed to slip into right-back and right-wing mode, but with Miller rampaging forward too.

I thought Troy should have featured on Saturday but perhaps he's being saved for this game. Back line of Miller, Troy, Raynes, Grainger, Brough perhaps.

considering at Mansfield they only scored by a free-kick, our chances were limited and the game sounded 'so-so' I am guessing our full backs play as full backs away from home, rather than as wingers/forwards at home.

Therefore I think away we can get away with Grainger/Raines/Miller as they would have cover. At home we should utilize Troy who is a much better individual defender and could cope with the large massive gaps and lack of cover we have when playing that very attack based formation of the last 2 home games.

I can see the argument for Dicker over Joyce who was awful on sat, but an argument could be that Chesterfield had as many open large gaps to exploit on the Tuesday as Cambridge did on sat and the difference was in the finishing, so I am not 100% sure if Dickers cover was much better, moreso that defence wise we're still learning and adapting.

it would though I must admit have been extremely interesting if we did have the balls to go away from home playing that 4 up front approach, could be a disaster but maybe it would take them by surprise.

Hehe. Seriously though, it's a ridiculous thing to have to do on a Tuesday night. After Stevenage's visit tonight (we go there on a Saturday) Orient's Tuesday buddies (i.e. both games in midweek) this season are Luton (fair enough)... Plymouth and Carlisle. FFS.

You'd like to think it will motivate the players a bit, when they see those fans who've travelled the length of the country to support them. At least put in a good performance, and hopefully a point or three.

Before the fixtures were announced there was some discussion over whether this was a better way of doing it than putting a closer fixture such as Accrington on a Tuesday, where we might normally expect to get over 500 away fans. Seems unfair on those hardcore fans who do want to travel to every away game, but probably suits those fans that are more likely to go to Saturday away games (which is most of them)... and for some of those who do go to every away game, Plymouth away on a Tuesday night could be the stuff of dreams... they'll be dining out on this for years.
