Why doesn't Akinde start for you guys? It sounded like he caused us quite a few problems when he came on as a sub.
He hadn't been in the best of form so had been dropped to the bench for this match and the Notts County match. You're right, your defence only came under pressure after he came on.

Who's playing the guy on? Bondz?
Interesting to see that the highlights give a very accurate snapshot of the two teams' very different playing styles!

Haven't seen it back yet but we had two defenders in the corner so perhaps one of them?

I didn't think we had any stonewall penalty shouts other than the one given. The first shout was unclear from the West Stand but even if it did hit his arm, it was certainly not deliberate.

I was behind the goal with a clear view and it was a certain penalty. Pearce misjudged a ball coming out of the air and put his arms up from his sides and the ball hit him. They weren't in a natural position and he gained an advantage from doing it.

I've just about summed up the courage to face the memories of today's game. I'll probably remember into as I write, so it might be a lengthy post, or I might just randomly end it with a big 'MA OUT' sign.

Our play style is ineffective at this level. But what annoys me more is that we weren't this one-dimensional ALL THE FUCKING TIME last season. We could play it on the deck, we could be dangerous from set pieces, we could counter attack without going gung-ho and throwing 50 men forward ala Notts County and Carlise. This season we just lump it up to Akinde and/or Gash (I mean today we tried it with 4' 10" McLean because you know, why the fuck not?) and hope for a defensive fuck up which just isn't going to happen at this level. Defenders are clued up on Akinde - they stick 2 or more on him at all times - and Gash works hard but sometimes just lacks the quality needed to bring the ball down and link up with one of the wingers/Weston.

Today was more of the aimless hoofball we saw from Stephens last season - lump it up into a general area where we might just have a player to fight it out. Except unlike last season, the majority of the time we didn't even have anyone in that fucking half of the pitch. It was almost traumatic to watch Bondz volley straight into their CB's feet repeatedly.

Weston is unable to pass to a player in Amber and black, or even chase the ball at points today. Gambin collects the ball and runs down blind alleys, Stacy was useless and ineffective, Bailey anonymous. The team doesn't fucking gel with these hoofball tactics from MA - but worryingly it's all he knows.

If we as a club want to progress from here then we need a new fresh face in management. MA has done well for us in his 1036th stint here, but it's time to go. He's too limited and has fucked this season right up with his summer signings and hopeless tactics. Get someone else in sharpish, or we might degenerate further into a York or Dagenham.

I'm done. MA OUT (as promised)

Fair enough but my understanding is handball needs to be deliberate, regardless of whether arms are in a natural position or not. That description doesn't sound like a deliberate 'ball to hand' motion.

Similar to putting your hands up by your head when a shot comes in, say at a freekick. Trying to make yourself bigger to gain an advantage usually draws a penalty. That said, we got what we deserved.

Having now seen the highlights, the third goal certainly does look a bit suspect from the Lino...

Not quite sure what our defence was trying to do mind....

when shot came in from Green, Blair was offside. He then played the ball after it came back from the goalkeeper.

Well there we have it, what an awful decision.
Where did you get that screenshot from? I hardly see any match action shots with the West Stand in the background.

N'Gala is never a right back and he was being asked to play both centre back and right back for much of the second half. The irony is that this situation was crying out for Hoyte to play in that hybrid CB/FB position as their out ball was down their left all the time.

The 3rd goal summed up not only our woeful performance but also the shocking performance of that linesman. Wearing gloves and it wasn't even that cold.
