Richards should of been on as soon as Akinde tucked the penalty away, why wait?

He didn't wait! He was really quick in pulling Richards and trying to bring him off. The referee wouldn't let him on, Carson was booked two minutes after the penalty for saying we wanted to bring a sub on. We're talking two minutes for the penalty to be scored, the ball to go out to play to Carson for being booked for saying we wanted to bring a sub on (which the ref considered time wasting). Then Thomas was injured a minute later, there was a long stoppage.

You can blame Hignett for a lot of things, unorganised defence, fragile team, not defending leads but you can't blame him for the ref not letting him bring a sub on straight away.

To be fair, waiting for your bloke to actually walk off the pitch after being sent off was long enough. He spent about a minute arguing before taking the slowest walk possible right down the length of the pitch to the tunnel.

So what are we? Hignett in or out? That's what seems to be doing the rounds now.

So let me get this through my thick skull.

Donnelly sent off, we all agree. Akinde scores, we all agree. Now, here is the tricky bit, before we kick off, 2-1 infront, WHY can't we bring Richards on then? let's just leave it here it's a pretty pointless discussion anyway which probably won't of made much a difference with our shower of shite.

As for Hignett in or out I think it's irrelevant sadly, chairman was bulling him up this morning saying he was 100% behind him, Hignett won't walk as the guy is/was recently made bankrupt, I think we're stuck with him.

Unless Stamford dump us out the cup then Mr Coxall will have no choice.

I really think Pools need to consider sacking Hignett.

He brought in some good players over the summer like Alessandra, Amond to add to the likes of Thomas, so he has been backed by your club/owners. To be where you are is disgraceful really, Hignett's record over end of last season and start of this must be grim reading, it's got to be relegation form.

I mentioned his post match interview after our game, how embarrassing and deluded it was. Now I've just sat and watched his Orient and Barnet post match interviews and they are carbon copies of the post Carlisle one. "We were the better team, should have been 4 or 5 up", "they were never a threat until they scored " (what the fuck is that all about  ), "how we've lost is a mystery", then goes on to criticise the defending (well there's your answer mate). The guy is a clown, he reminds me of Greg Abbott. In his mind everyone and everything is against you, it's not his fault, you should be top of the league on performances. A deluded fucknugget.

I think you're decent enough for a solid mid table top half pushing season if you hire a competent manager who can get your defence organised, sign a midfielder who can give you some defensive protection. You've got some good attacking players.

I know we might not be in league 2 next season anyway but in case we are, I'd hate for you to go down. The more northern teams in the football league the better.

Poor interview by Pools manager. Blaming the ref when as far as I can see he got the key decisions right.

And I recall saying to you at the time that the guy churns out the same bollocks every defeat, I wasn't kidding, there is no holding his hands up with this guy, his arrogance for someone who has done very little as a manager is pretty staggering, it's no good scoring twice and supposedly controlling the game if your fannies at the back concede three, we've let in almost two goals a game on average, we have no kick them up in the air midfielder, just a trio of nice touch softies, yet he goes out and signs two strikers on loan who've played the grand total of 45 minutes between them.

People are starting to lose confidence in him and rightfully so, his record speaks for itself, despite his bold pre season claims for this side most people would be happy with a mid table finish and there is still a chance for him to pull it round but I feel like he's got to do something sharpish, going to be even more difficult now Thomas is out injured, take him out this side and we're like a Jaffa orange.

We haven't thrown 20 points away , other teams have read the rules and plan for 90 minutes ....back in game 1 he took off our strikers after 70 and settled , Colchester didn't , and one bad miss cost them the full 3 points ....3 years now Featherstone has been 'holding Midfielder ' and 3 years now other teams have just laughed at the idea .....

He shouldn't have sold Rakish. Rakish has powers far beyond his imagining.

Donnelly made an attempt to win the ball but fouled the player.

Under the new double jeopardy rule, penalty was correct but red card was incorrect and referee was right to own up to his mistake. It sounds like the Pools players reminded the referee of the rule and the referee admitted he was wrong to send him off. According to the Pools players, his words were, "Oh yeah, I'm sorry I forgot but I can't change my mind now"

Donnelly took ages walking off probably expecting the referee to reverse his decision.

The referee was in a no win situation at this point, does he call him back and rectify his error, which would make him appear weak or does he stand by his decision and look incompetent. In this case it sounds like he did a bit of both, he apologised to the Pools players minutes after for his error but did not rectify it.

I can understand why Hignett is frustrated.

Still we should have shut up shop.

I was really impressed with how Hartlepool passed the ball around you deserved to be 2 up. however the second did finally give us a kick up the rear and Akinde tucked away his pen, I thought the player was being a complete cock walking off the pitch.... I would of given him a second red for being a dick.

After Akinde scored you just crumbled and we just battered you for 10 minutes

As always holding onto the lead is always a struggle and you gave it some for the last 10 but the highlight was watching shaun batt score which is a remarkable sight.

Having watched Exeter and orient ,Pools played the best football but you just imploded under pressure.

Its a worry that you played fairly well and lost to a Shaun Batt collectors item.

We've been a bit lucky recently. Vs Wycombe last week the referee apologised to the their players for not playing the advantage which a split second later led to a goal.

I'm still not sure how we won that game yesterday.

Becuase we look nice and pretty knocking the ball around, but when it comes to a scrap & fight to hold on for points,we 're a bunch of fannies.
Our sackless midfield has been a problem for 3 seasons & I'm just sick to the back teeth of it now.

You would expect it t be rescinded on appeal then.

Having seen the replay I don't think it will as his chances of playing the ball through Akinde were slim at best whilst also being a challenge from behind. Regardless of what the Hartlepool players think it looks like the right decision to me and was at least a bookable offence anyway.
If the appeals panel decide that was the case then the double jeopardy doesnt enter into it.

"Players committing accidental fouls, that deny a goal-scoring opportunity, are not automatically sent off, but cautioned instead.
Players will still be sent off for holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball or having no possibility to play the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball."

To be fair, you were a class above for 60 mins.

I was really impressed with how Hartlepool passed the ball around you deserved to be 2 up.

Story of our season. You could use these quotes in pretty much all of our games this season.

As the law of averages go, we've so far had the shit rub of the green with sendings off, dodjey decisions and what not. We should be in for one hell of a lucky ride at the end of the season.

Although again, a second half capitulation is becoming far too worrying. I didn't follow the game, but I imagine Hignett yet again didn't make any subs as Barnet finally mounted some pressure. Left it too late again and we were dead and buried by the time he changed it up.

Donnelly's red card appeal has been turned down by the FA, misses the Stamford game on Sunday.

And Thomas is out for 3 months.

It's fine... everything's fine..
