Can Carlisle stop the rot tonight?
Only 19 games left for us, we really need to start picking up points.
I hope Simpson changes the formation, Luke Armstrong as a lone striker didn't work in last game.
Barnsley won last 8 home games.
We've only 1 away win all season.

I know I’m not the most positive, but surely no sane minded Carlisle fan thinks we have a chance tonight. We’re just not competitive at all anymore. We’re beaten before we’re on the pitch in a lot of games. Awful going forward and crap at the back.

Another defeat, another game ticked off, we’ll be multiple points behind having played 2 and 3 games more than the teams above. Its why I’ve said we’re 100% down after our pathetic points return against the teams in and around us.

Think it could get really messy tonight. Like it could end up being 5 or 6. I returned my ticket from the original fixture. Barnsley on a Tuesday night in freezing temperatures to watch an uncompetitive mess of a team get destroyed. No thanks.

Defenders Armer and Huntington recalled, Fin Back on the bench.
Good to see that trio returning.
Ifollow for me too.

Well one half of that prediction is looking good! I accept it’s early days but good start nonetheless.

So amazingly we’re 1-0 up at half time. I say amazingly because if we were a competent team we’d be 4-0. Barnsley have gifted us some glorious chances that we’ve completely fluffed. I expect we’ll be made to rue them, but it’s nice to sit at half time ahead. It’s been a long time, so I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

Sounds like we have played very well but yep should be at least 2-0 if not more and that could cost us end of the game

1 chance 1 goal.
That’s the difference between good teams and relegated teams with Dan Butterworth leading their attack.

Late pen for Barnsley, very very cruel they deserve nothing but will win because that old saying ‘no luck at the bottom’

But our own fault game should have been over at half time and they have had one real chance and a dodgy pen and won it after alot of hard effort……way it goes

Fully deserved defeat for being so inept when presented with easy chances to score. We were competitive first half, but hideous in the second half.

A mountain to climb now. Defeat at Cheltenham on Saturday will all but confirm our relegation. The sooner this season is over the better. Its been abysmal from the off.

Thought Carlisle were decent tonight, far better than when we played you a few weeks ago. Just hoping those goals have knocked the stuffing out of you and we can take advantage this weekend.

I wouldn't say we was hideous 2nd half.
A real sickener to lose that, we could have been out of sight after 20 mins, but wasted our chances.
A big improvement tonight, the work rate and teamwork was there for all to see.
Unfortunately, no points gained and time is running out.

Think we need to look at the snippets of positivity last two games, even if we do go down we at least need side to improve over the next few months and go down more stable and confident.

Last two games we are now at least creating chances…..not scoring them but at least now our forwards are not out of the game all match.

And tonight must have been a little improved defensively because they had very little in the game at all tonight and usually we leak goals with slack defending which wasn’t the case.

It is minor shoots of improvement, but when losing most weeks you have to start somewhere

The use of the ball was hideous, and that is being kind. In this league you have to be capable of passing the ball to your team mates. Our ability to retain possession absolutely sucks, particularly out of defence, and I don’t care what anyone says that has to improve.

I’ve thought we were down for a few weeks now, so nothing has changed for me, but it’s still disappointing to see us piss away gift wrapped opportunities for 3 points. If we can’t win a game that is presented to us like Barnsley did for us in the first half, we’ve no hope.

Barnsley are SHIT and no way did we deserve to lose that thanks to the fucking ref.

We could have been 4-0 up at half time easy.

Any half decent team would have been 4-0 up, easy as you say, but the fact we only scored 1 of the gift wrapped “easy” presents highlights how utterly useless we are as a team.

We won’t get a better chance handed to us all season of winning a match, and we couldn’t take it. Only ourselves to blame and sadly another nail in our coffin and why we’ll be in League 2 next season.

To be fair that was a disgusting penalty decision, never in a million years was that a pen, refs who give soft as shit ones like that should be banned for the next game.

Yes truly awful.

He was a L2 standard ref who somehow was refereeing two big L1 clubs.

It was a terrible decision from the ref, but I’m more annoyed about our own inept performance in front of goal. Players need to look at themselves before whinging about decisions.

We should have beaten Barnsley in their previous game but wasted good chances and gifted them theirs, as we seem to do these days.
No way will they be going up but they are getting the luck at the moment

In fairness to them, they were brilliant last season and missed out because there were three phenomenal League 1 sides who went up instead. Ordinarily their side last season. Would have been more than good enough to go up. If they get lucky this year then fair play to them then I have no problem with it.

I think they looked better last season, certainly defensively. Made us look dangerous every time we went forward and lost possession easily.
That's 4 points they've taken off overall us and probably deserved 1 at best

Barnsley were clinical (obviously considering they've scored 10 past us!) but were largely unimpressive, I think pretty much everything they hit went in over the two games against us, all be it were dreadful first half at Vale Park. Should really have clawed it back second half with the chances but if they finish the chances like they did against us with such efficiency then they have a great chance.
