A clash of sides who recently graced the Championship and in Wigan's case, the Premier League. Barnsley picked up a win against Colchester and the gracious defence they offer last weekend. Meanwhile Wigan have had a dip in form recently, losing at home to both Burton and Blackpool. We all thought they had clicked and would go on to dominate the league but they haven't as of yet.

He's the kid that spent time at Man U on loan from Bolton.

He came on against us and turned the game for Wigan from 2 down.

Judging by your message board a lot of your fans are bailing out " I've watch do them for 50 years never going again" " that's me finished" etc. Problem Barnsley have got is that the vast majority of current fans starting supporting them when they were a Championship side or when you were a Prem team, they can't deal with lower league football. You've been an overachieving club for decades and now it looks like that's at an end.

On the contrary, most of our fans on our message board grew up watching them in the late 60s/70s when we were a third/fourth tier club. We've been a second tier club for 73 seasons out of 106 in the football league. The Championship is horrifically bloated by money now so maybe we'd be overachieving just being in that division, but we're bottom of League One.
Our fans are angry because we were crap in the division above despite having many chances to sort things out, and seemingly are making the same mistakes in the third tier. It's too much. We've a team that are no-where remotely as bad as the four worst in the division, yet here we are in the relegation places. And the man overseeing our demise (Patric Cryne) is more concerned about saving face than getting rid of the main problem (Johnson).

I'd still wager that the majority of your fans attending matches started doing so in the last 35 years and now that times aren't as good are voting with their feet. That said, your support is quite good compared to many other clubs of a similar stature, Donny, Rotherham, Chesterfield, Huddersfield, Rochdale, Bury, Oldham etc

tbf they're a bit bigger then Rochdale, Bury and Chesterfield but are most definitely in the same category as ourselves, Oldham and the chavs.

Barnsley are not a 'far' bigger club than us. Yourselves and Blades are but not them. I getw the argument that they could be a little bigger than us die to spending more time in the second tire and usually (not always) having an extra 1500 home fans but far bigger is an exaggeration.
