Obviously a whopping wedge of cheddar, and a marked departure from the previous regime's policy of not handing out mega deals stretching into likely declining performance, but after the last couple of seasons I'm kind of inclined to concentrate on a successful here and now and worry about crossing that bridge if/when it appears.

I'm wearing my Yankees jersey in work today and someone, who I've never met before, came up to me and started talking about the Yankees. Turns out his Dad is from the Bronx and he was born in Queens, and is a Yankees fan thanks to his Dad. Might say something about my week, but it could well be the highlight of it for me.

I've been watching baseball for nearly 11 years, and I can count on one hand the number of people I've had a proper baseball conversation with, in this country. Joys of following a sport that has a small following in this country.

It's even worse (and especially for those of my persuasion) because one sees a Yankee cap more or less every other day. To judge by that the UK is positively teeming with fervent seamheads. But could they pick even Derek Jeter out of a line-up? I think not!

One of the night managers at work came in wearing a Red Sox jersey a couple of weeks ago. I made the mistake of commenting on it which led to a short lived attempt by said manager to initiate a baseball conversation before I had to point out my knowledge doesn't go beyond my PS4 game and glory watching the Royals last season.

Does turn out he's quite the American sports fan though and follows the Celtics and Notre Dame too (he's a catholic glaswegian). Seeing as I usually see him for an hour or two at the end of my shift there could be the promise of discussing college ball with someone outside the shoutbox next season.

Team has sold off almost everyone so that now the city has to re-learn everyone's name. My prediction is less than 60 wins. Yippeee

All I know is Baseball made me almost fall asleep when I went to Blue Jays @ Yankees last year. However I'm going again to Indians @ Blue Jays in June, this time it's at night so I might not fall asleep.
