65 ping?!? :O
Yeah, I don't really understand what ping is, but is it something to do with distance? yesterday the ping was 65 using an ipad and just now on the laptop the ping is 38, also the server location has changed from New Plymouth to Wellington? either way it's still rubbish speeds.

It's the reaction time of your connection, so how long it takes for you to get a response when you send out a request. Not really that important unless you're playing games online, if you are with a ping like that, you're going to lag like hell.

Mine is 35 and it lags like fuck so can't even imagine what 65 would be like!

Thanks for explaining what ping is Jase, and as I never play games on the machine so I suppose it doesn't matter really.

Depends on the game, a lot of them rely on a very good ping now.

Think that's just minecraft in general, every time I've gone online in that it's lagged like a bitch.
Ah right fair enough! We have upgraded to Fibre for really cheap after my dad kicked off at Sky

Goes live on Friday and they said we should expect a minimum of 35mb/s! bit of a difference from the 1.5 I'm used to haha.

Yeah, I'm going to be kicking off at them soon over speeds because I'm pretty sure I'm getting less than their proposed minimum speed.

Yeah we have been paying for between 5-9mb/s apparently, and getting 2 at the very most. They're a bunch of thieving bastards.

You've had a fault and could have left without penalty if 2mb/s was below your mals, hardly Sky's fault.

Yeah but I made them aware of the issue a month ago and they have done absolutely nothing to resolve it other than making us pay extra for fibre. It took half an hour of arguing for them to agree to give us a discount on that.

Believe it or not, a significant improvement on what I was getting with TalkTalk.

Proof is in the pudding, all the businesses have shut, and these are my speeds, still shit and my upload speed has for some reason died a death, but there we go.

Had a whinge at Sky, and funnily enough, my speeds are looking a lot better... Not a massive improvement, but it's at least acceptable now.

I took up the offer of a free upgrade to fibre optic broadband last week, what a difference in speeds.

Got upgraded free from Virgin last week to 70 mb, not bad. Had 200 mb once but I never used it to full effect so came down to a sensible speed.

How has this gone to nearly three pages and I still don't know how fast Pagnell's broadband speed is?

I ordered "upto 17mbps" broadband from BT. They told me on the phone that I'd get roughly 8-10mbps, which I was OK with. Broadband was activated etc and for the first three days I got 3-4mbps max. For the last two days I've been consistently getting this...

I wouldn't be happy with fibre speeds like that, I'm on standard copper, and yes yours is quicker, but not humongously.
