Who do you think made the best signing of the January transfer window in this league?

Obviously I'm biased but think that James Collins is a great bit of business. Proven goalscorer at this level and a leader on the pitch, already scored a couple for us.

Would argue that at this level, firing a side up from 24th to 22nd has a bigger impact than 4th to 2nd. With that in mind, Luke James going back to Hartlepool might be the one that makes the biggest difference. Thought they were going down.

Collins for Northampton
Ismail to Oxford despite only being a month at the moment
Smith to Portsmouth

3 proven players at this level think it could be the difference in us getting promotion the fact these 3 have signed quality for this level

Ah well nothing wrong with downsizing.

How many goals has Messi scored after his permanent move Aber mate? Benno's got 3 but you know this already.

Seriously though, we're happy with him and you're happy with Gaffers. It's not very often that this happens as you well know.

As always, the managers will tell you that they got just the player or players that they were after and the will be a great fit. Lets see who of the January signings gets the boot at the end of the season, then we will see how great a signing they were. By the way this refers to every sport in every country that signs / drafts player in.

David Wheeler re-signing for us is massive. Lad is top notch. Doubly important now that Nichols has gone. We still may end up losing him to a higher division in the summer but at least if we do we will get some money for him.

Fair play to everyone who didn't just read "who did your club sign?" at the start of this thread.

That's optimism.

Not really. He made 33 appearances for West Ham last season and has a proven track record in the Premier League over his career and was turning out for West Ham in the Europa League at the start of this season. He's a year older granted, but he should theoretically be the best player in the division bar none. Of course we've found out with Jobi McAnuff and Andrea Dossena that doesn't always work, but I think there's every reason to be optimistic with him as a player.

Between your first and last sentence, you talked yourself into agreeing with me.

You'll be admitting that you laugh at crying Oxfordshire children with your next.

It's our raison d'être as Orient fans.

I think Pompey signing Michael Smith could prove to be an inspired bit of business. Proven goal scorer in League One and should thrive on the ammunition provided by Roberts and Evans. Think he'll be the key to their cracking of the top 3.

Is this where everyone claims they've made the best signing?

Michael Smith is great by Pompey.

Think we've had the best transfer window though ;)

luckily his loan runs out the game before we play Pompey at Fratton, hopefully that game will be meaningless
to both teams for the right reasons

I agree with this. Taking league position into account, James looks the best signing of the window.

I think Luke James is a good shout plus Jordan Bowery should do well.

For us Jayden Stockley has done brilliantly since signing on loan.

It's only a loan (sadly) but Liam Walsh has been superb for us since he signed at the start of January.
