I do also, he is young, a good tactician and has a lot of experience around Europe and International. It'll be interesting to see if he is given the funds and strengthens in the correct areas.

I think it will fail miserably. One can only hope anyway.

I think it's a bit of a slap in the face to Allardyce. Bilic is still dining out on that Croatia victory against the wally with the brolly. He's done nothing of note since.

Neither has Allardyce. He has a 39% win rate over the course of his career. The bigger the job the worse he does.

I'm not saying Allardyce was good, just that his replacement isn't any better and has no experience at this level.

At what level? Why do you feel he isn't any better? He wins more games than Allardyce. He plays a more progressive style of football. He's managed a bigger club, bigger names and managed internationally. Granted he hasn't won the Irish 1st Division like Sam did 25 years ago but I'm sure he'll get a crack at that some day.

A guid dram
Bilic is alright - though he might take the EL seriously and would Hammers fans be happy with that if the league form is ok?

As I said, I'm not defending Allardyce it's just his replacement is just as shit and unproven to boot.

But you haven't even attempted to justify your claim that "he's just as shit". I'm asking you why you think what you think. Like, the reason I think he's probably better is because his teams win more games of football, he's managed at a higher level, plays better football and has been more successful in bigger jobs compared to SA.

I think he's shit because other than guiding a good Croatia side through a qualifying stage at the cost of Steve Mclaren's England he's been average to bad ever since. He took Lokomotiv to their worst ever finish in the league and then went to Besiktas where he did a bang average job. I like the guy but he's done nothing to suggest to me he's any better than Allardyce. I hope he proves me wrong because he seems like a very intelligent and decent bloke. I think I'm being a bit harsh calling him shit, he's just nothing special.

weird one, bit of a risk as well. He's never won anything, never managed in a decent league and has never done anything of note.

Not sure where I stand on this. Gut says this is a bad move because Bilic strikes me as the sort of charismatic manager that will only work for so long at club level....but he has a lot of passion for the club so for a short time at least he'll be loved by West Ham fans unlike Allardyce.

Let's hope he brings the #WestHamWay (TM).

Would be more than happy to see us finish around 8th-12th with some odd highlights, give the EL a good punt, and play football that doesn't hurt the eyes like the majority of the last 4 years. That's what most West Ham fans' expectations are, which unsurprisingly isn't what clueless 'experts' or pundits would have you believe. Given we pay some of the highest ticket prices in the league - and prices that are most out of kilter with how good we actually are - expecting a minor level of half-decent play should be something that other fans of midtable teams would like to see, rather than get all snooty about expectations being unrealistic (they aren't) and how awful we've treated Allardyce (he's a c*** who from the off talked to fans like c***).

Plus I highly, highly doubt Allardyce would have signed a new contract anyway, which some seem to miss in this whole episode and assume we sacked Allardyce and brought in Bilic. Even I wouldn't have begrudged him a new deal given the first half of the season and how different we looked, but Allardyce panicked and went back to his boring style and results got worse, which is something else that has seemed to be missed.

I honestly thought West Jam were going to struggle this season unless they made the right appointment, and I don't think they have. They'll be slumming it with us near the bottom imo.

I'll reserve judgement until after the new season starts, personally I think it's a good appointment as we now have a manager who has a passion for the club and a preference for attacking football, the two qualities lacking in the previous manager.

Attacking football doesn't always mean good things. Look at this season's title winners for a start. Look at Martinez' Wigan, I'm sure there are more examples, but I'm tired. For the record, there's a lot of teams I'd rather went down than West Ham, just don't think this is a good appointment.

No realistic West Ham fan thinks that more attacking football automatically = better results, but Allardyce constantly fed this "my way or relegation" bullshit which is simply not true - there are many examples of midtable teams playing half-decent football that doesn't send one to sleep, yet still get results. The ridiculous thing is that when Allardyce changed the way we played in the first half of the season (possibly enforced due to no Nolan/Carroll, but regardless) we played direct but along the floor/channels, pressurising and good football and got very good results, he proved himself wrong but then still reverted back to his favoured style... and results turned to shit.

Midtable, with a few highlights and not be bored, would be a really good first season for Bilic to settle in.

I don't really get why West Ham are being criticised for attempting to better themselves. It might not work out, but what's the harm in trying?

My predictions have been bloody awful so far this season. Someone else can have my crown this year.
