Sadly I fancy United to get past Swindon, neither are in great form but there can also be an argument that Swindon have had a few weeks to prepare themselves for the play offs. Think United will narrowly win at the Lane before getting a spawny draw at the County Ground.
I know that you obviously like to see the Blades lose but surely you would welcome the Sheffield derby back.
Wouldn't you?

No, I absolutely hate the derbies, I would love to see United rot in the lower leagues forever. Maybe play them once a decade in the cup when we're in the Premiership, turn up at the lane with our second string and hammer them. Any supporter not from Sheffield has a different opinion on the derbies, but when you live in the same city the hatred between the two clubs is far worse.

I will only be happy when we have both clubs in premier league, derby games be even better then ! Plus anyone using the word hatred in football needs to get a grip on life lol we all have family and friends who support one or other.

I live in Sheffield and It's a friendly rivalry. Everyone has a freind who supports Wednesday/United.

Not really seen any hatred.

Its because both sets of fans are from the same city, takes the edge of the rivalry off a bit as everyone knows each other.

Load of fucking shit, it's alreyt being pals with Blades and that but come Derby day the passion and bile takes over, not to mention the continual fights down in the City centre or Hillsborough most weekends.

I live slap bang in Sheffield city centre, so that fights claim is utter bullshit.

Rivalries between different towns/cities contain more hatred that inter-city derbies due to the "town pride/representation" element. (Rangers/Celtic aside as they have no one else)

On derby day the friends or family thing does disappear and it is all about beating each other, definitely one of best derby games in country for atmosphere and passion.

So you're a student?

Trust me there's more shit most weekends between rival fans than you realise.

And i assert your second line is bollocks and done just for effect, try attending a Sheffield derby tell me if's friendly etc.

I agree with S5 that id rather see us both fighting in the premier, I accept we ain't ever going to win anything so the rivalry is the best competition for me.

However have to completely disagree with UTS with his comments about it being a friendly rivalry or it having the edge taken off it. There may be an element of mutual respect and 'enjoying' the rivalry but that doesn't make it friendly. The whole build up to playing them makes me feel sick and the passion is still there which is why it constantly gets voted as one of the biggest rivalries in the country.

Edit: I say enjoy but that isn't the right word. I just don't know how else to phrase it

Nah, you're all biased. Not saying it's a bad rivalry by the way. As it's obviously a big event, just the hatred element is all I'm getting at.

Great spectacle, not so much hatred

Just seems like freindly banter, between pals most of the time . I just cannot see how the people you are having a laugh with each other can suddenly hate each other on derby day, obviously everyone wants to get one over of the opposing team but it just seems like office place banter.

There were Bury fans in the 90's who refused to wear reebok or buy Warburtons bread as it was a Bolton company. A bit far that, but just an example

How come the L1 POs is attracting a lot of friendly hot air on here but the Championship forum is as dead as a dodo about theirs

I've never had a chuppachubs (or whatever they're called). And yes I know that's pathetic.

The common line is "oh I work with a few Wendy's/Gasheads etc, really hope we beat them tomorrow"

Millwall and West Ham a decent example of pure hatred, going back to the London dock days. (Yes, I know that's inter-city)

Think the Championship section is the least active in terms of football talk which is strange when you consider the size of some of the clubs in that division.

I feel physically sick about tonight. If there was ever a game we need to start well in...any complacency and we'll be two or more down by half time I fear.

Nothing of the like, there's plenty of boozers in town that fans of opposing clubs can't frequent, Wednesday fans rarely drink on London Road because it's deemed out of order and as I said there's quite a few scuffles most weekends between the rival fans, nothing like a full scale riot but fans of both sides getting a clip. Nowt healthy about that.

Yeah, but that's counting the scarecrows as well!

Sorry, but I just don't get all this 'shit crowd' bollocks - you get what you get. Does it really matter if Sheffield accumulate more fans than Bristol or whoever.

Fans are fans - no matter how many different clubs can muster
