Football's back!

It'll certainly be interesting how we line up next week, and what formation we go with. I suspect we will be getting off to a bit of a slow start though...

I'm confident I am, Bolton have got injury struggles at the moment and our pre-season was a positive one with hardly anyone injured - We have a range of formations available to us and it seems we'll be able to change them mid game depending on what the situation is. Clement sounds professional and is working well towards this so hopefully can get a good first result. Bolton however will have no pressure, they're coming up 'Big spending Derby' who are aiming for promotion while Bolton try to consolidate for the season so that could work against us.

How I hope we line up
Grant;
Baird Keogh Shackell Forsyth;
Thorne Hughes;
Ince Weimann Russell;
Martin

0-2 Derby, Weimann and Martin

That'll be us, unless Clement favours Carson. I think it's a good decision to give Baird the captaincy too, as it means no Cyrus Christie :lol:

Was always going to be him or Shackell.

Weimann and Bent on the bench. Our squad is ridiculous! :lol:

Looks like Carson's been given the nod as number one then. Surprised at Bryson over Hendrick.

Carson; Baird, Keogh, Shackell, Warnock; Thorne, Hughes, Bryson, Ince; Russell, Martin.

Subs: Grant, Forsyth, Hendrick, Bent, Pearce, Weimann, Shotton

After 30 minutes we lost both Bryson and Hughes to injury. Sounds like Hughes' injury could be pretty serious.

This season is crap already. :(

I'm happy with a draw in terms of before game expectations, while during the game yes we hit the bar 3 times but Derby had spells too, a Martin chance in particular.

I hope we build on this and it shows people we will not be close to relegation after a full Neil Lennon season with time still to find a goalscorer.

Sorry Derby fans I do not rate Clement and despite the obvious quality in your squad I don't think you will go up like I predicted before the match

Need some luck with injuries, praying Hughes' knee isn't too bad.

The game is irrelevant if he's done an ACL or something. Fack.

Only a matter of time before Thorne gets his annual season ending injury too...

Fair enough, although it's the first game of the season so nothing worth getting too worried about. Long way to go yet.

What's changed your mind from one game, baring in mind he's only been in the job 2 months

He has been in the job much longer than 2 months. He took over part way through another disastrous Dougie Freedman season (watch forest crash and burn the way he was in his post-match interview was exactly the same as with us) and I have always had faith in Neil.

In terms of relegation I am talking about the bookies odds and alot of peoples predictions on here about our fate. The only fear I have for relegation is if our owner finally pulls the plug and lets us wallow in administration.
I predicted 9th or administration fuelled relegation this season and I am happy with what I saw yesterday to be built on

With his senior coaching roles as well. His name was floundered around amongst bigger clubs before he took the derby job

Fair result, good match, we aren't as bad as people make out, Deby are a good side again although, if martin stayed on his feet more instead of theatrical diving, he'd have made more of the opportunities that came derby's way...happy chappie though

They hired him from Real Madrid. How many bigger clubs are there?
I heard Middlesbrough were fairly massive, not sure if they beat Real though.

If we hadn't lost Hughes and Bryson to injury we'd have beaten you with ease. Disrupted us, and Lennon admitted as such.

Would Clement still be a terrible manager, then?

Hughes' injury is huge for us.

I don't quite get what changed from the Villarreal game, but we looked ponderous in possession and when I thought we should have drove forward we seemed to calm the ball down and maintain possession.

Thorne was excellent, as was Shackell. Carson, Baird and Keogh were very good so there are positives. Ince looked to try and play the killer pass rather than have a shot, which in the end was frustrating as it possibly cost us the points.

The chance at the end was as perfect as we could have asked for, yet fluffed it. I think we were absolutely terrible at stopping crosses coming in and almost seemed to invite them.

Shotton coming on for Hughes was a big negative for me. I think if we had gone for Weimann and trusted Hendrick in a deeper CM role then we would have been much better off. I also think we lacked a lot of width. We don't look comfortable playing in a diamond and I don't see what Warnock brings to the table over Forsyth.

Clement has his plus points, sure, but I can't help but think he got it wrong against Bolton. I'd prefer the formation we played against Burton, and I hope that's how we look to set up from now on.

I just feel there are better managers out there to lead a derby squad with such quality within it.
You will not fulfill your potential with him in charge, although yes the Hughes injury may now add to that
