A hectic run of games these last couple weeks with this tomorrow and Fulham on Friday to come. And it all comes at a time when we look jaded and lacking in some creative confidence. Howe has tried to mix things up a bit changing wingers out in an effort to freshen things up, worked to an extent as Fraser looks decent but ultimately the goals haven't exactly rained in recently. We're just taking the safe pass all too often and we look a bit predictable and one-dimensional.

We don't really have much else to try, no other options or alternatives so we just persevere with what we have and hope that we finally catch a break at some point and that it brings back the spring in the step. We're not far off our best but it's just not quite there. Has to come at some point?

Wolves have been banging on the playoff door for a while now and have a bit of momentum behind them. They'll likely eye this up as a chance to get at least a point and maybe more on a playoff placed side only 3 points above now. So it should be decent, a side that will come at us with attacking intent and quality with Dicko and Sako. Could be pretty end to end.

We look good at the moment, and since Afobe has come in we seem to be able to find the back of the net on a frequent basis which is always good. The issue is we look very good when beating the weaker sides in the division, yet when we come against a team with a bit of quality and a game plan, we seem to get found out easily enough (Norwich, Derby, Brentford, Notts Forest, etc)

If we played Bournemouth a couple of months ago I think most of us would predict a 3-0 comfortable home win, but with Bournemouth hitting a rough patch and Wolves winning their last 3 scoring 9 and conceding 0, I think we will give ourselves a fighting chance.

I'll go for 2-2
Richie and Wilson for Bournemouth
Afobe and Sako for Wolves

Bournemouth have only lost once to us in the League. On the penultimate day of the 80s. A great decade for music and haircuts, but not great for the old gold. We were glad to get out of it and into the decade of Oasis, Blur and everything 'Brit'.
A lot has happened since December 30th 1989, although fashion trends in much of Wolverhampton remain pretty much the same. The lucky people of Dorset will get to see our fashionstas tonight as we traipse through Pokesdown from the station chanting "Bournemouth's half decent,we wanna stay here!". An hour later, we will be comparing garden sheds.
Always pretty happy with our away support: it may not be as big as that of Lids or Boro, but it's always vocal and usually good-natured.

Another game that's difficult to call. My sense the last few weeks is that Howe is maybe a bit too sophisticated for his own good and the Cherries continue to play decent football but haven't adapted to the pressures of the top of the division: the present line-up perhaps lack the balls to get physical. I think we are more desperate for the points though.

I think we'll see goals tonight and I think Wolves will be ahead much of the game, but we will succumb to our nerves, like we almost did when playing in Europe against 10 men on Saturday.

3-2 to Bournemouth. Edwards both goals for us. 9,786 gate. 1,321 Wolves. (that's how many tickets we were given and we sold out ten days ago). Kermogant hat-trick for them. However, I also predict that the first goal will be within three minutes of the start.

I hope we get a half decent ref for this game, but knowing our luck we'll get the idiot who managed to send of Wes Brown instead of John O'Shea last weekend.

Oh believe me we've had plenty of our own refereeing frustrations in recent weeks, we want a refereeing controversy free game just as much as Wolves.

Wolves should get the usual ~1400 away allocation that most sides take up. The gate will probably be about 10,500. Near enough a sell out, but it's too much of a ball ache satisfying the ticket criteria for enough people to bother actually selling out.

Such is the limited supply, if you're not an ST holder and you want a general availability seat, then you need to pass a written exam published by the ticket office.

Questions include the maiden name of Ted MacDougall's Aunt Judith, Ian Bishop's inside leg measurement to the nearest inch, and the name of our goalkeeper in the 1948/49 season.

I digress, here's to a good game and a few goals. We're desperate for a win and just need to get it any which way we can. If that means a bit of nasty football then we need to be prepared to do that. We won't mind, we'll pass folks to sleep, but a 1-0 deflecting off a centre half's arse in the 90th would do me.

What's Andrew Surman like for Bournemouth, I'll always remember him and Jason Shakell as the players who were hardly given a chance to prove themselves at Wolves. For some reason we used to always play Greg Halford instead because he could throw a ball further than he could kick it...

Surman is good. I was pretty skeptical at first but I've grown to like him. He's never going to win awards because he's a quiet player, but when he's not there we miss him. Never loses the ball, never looks out of position and adds a sense of calm. Also scores 2-3 worldies a season. He does have a "sideways and backwards" label which attracts stick, but in our side where everyone else banzais forward at every chance, I think we need someone like that. For the 300-400k we paid Norwich, he's been good.

I forget he played for Wolves.

Another AFCB/Wolves connection is Sam Vokes - who became a forgotten man at Molineux IIRC. Always wished we could have hung onto him a bit longer. But the 300k Wolves paid our administrator at the time probably kept AFCB going, as Vokes was about the club's only sellable asset.

Not sure we why sold Vokes the way we did. He had a very impressive scoring record for us from coming off the bench 5 mins before the end of each game. Sadly I think he was targeted from some sections of our support based on a couple of sitters he missed, and sadly wasn't given much of a chance after that and his injuries. Happy to see he's done well at Burnley when fit though.

And Halford was who McCarthy was referring to when he talked about tweets and twats. He tipped off someone (Fulham?) about the impending Sidwell move.

To be fair he probably did us a favour, I mean we got Jamie O'Hara instead, what a coup!

Line ups last time Wolves played at Bournemouth, cup match...

Ovendale / Young - Howe - Cox - Vincent / Berthe - Hughes - Bailey - Robinson / Stein - Fletcher
(Subs: O'Neill, Town, Warren)

Stowell / Muscat - Sedgley - Williams - Deano - Naylor / Froggatt - Osborn - Corica / Keane - Connolly
(Subs: Emblen, Ferguson, Mark Jones)

Stein opened for Bournemouth (it had to be him, didn't it?!) and Ferguson Jnr equalised for us late on.

Discuss.

Disagree. I think your problem right now is you are wedded to the smooth, good-looking, passing game and don't get nasty.

You're the Taylor Swift of the Championship to our Beth Ditto. Good luck with the fancy footwork though. I have this sixth sense that thinks we're going to have someone sent off again tonight.

That's a very handy Bournemouth 11 as far as the 90s went for us, about as good as it got. Good old Oven-gloves in goal.

Kevin Muscat and Lee Naylor for full backs, doesn't get much better than that... Just missing the main man himself, Mo Camara :fish:

We had a young Robbie Keane too, nothing on Leon mind.

Huge win! For the first time in 4-6 weeks we clicked into something nearing our best play.

The patterns of play we've been missing recently were back, taking the odd risk with a through ball, balls dinked over the top, attacks down both flanks - all the bits of the jigsaw were there. Wasn't quite polished and perfected to our best, but it was getting there. Exciting prospect, IF we can keep it going.

Wolves are so full of running and pace, a box of tricks to keep tabs on and I admire the very attacking way they setup. Haven't seen a side come here and really set themselves up like that for ages. A front 4 at times leaving 2 in the middle, bold stuff.

Well the table hasn't changed much, except everything closes up on Derby, but the sense of relief of getting the monkey off the back is palpable.

Well deserved Cherries win - despite some fairly disgraceful time-wasting in last 5 mins.
Ref was dreadful but he was bad for both sides, to be fair. Some very odd decisions.
Score line flattered Wolves ... Could have been 4 or 5. We were outclassed the entire game and had just one shot on target.

More relief than joy tonight, the players have been so shot of confidence and it had really started to show in the last few games, nobody wanted to take that gamble against Blackburn and our defence has been shakier than ever (And it's hardly been solid all season!)

Sounded a bit of a battle at times, but we also did get a chance to play some good stuff too. A bit of luck needed with what was a terrible penalty but now the monkey's off our back so to speak we can go to Fulham and play with a bit less pressure and a lot more freedom.

A deserved win for Bournemouth from reading the report. As seems to be the story all season we seem to be great against lesser opposition, yet when we play the better teams we seem to get unstuck and aren't able to play our style. Still though originally I was happy just to stay up this year, being 8th is a very good for season for us if we stay there.

So apparently video replays show the penalty for Bournemouth was outside of the box and we had a clear penalty turned down when Sako's shot hit Tommy Elphick's hand.. add this to the farce of the refereeing decision to the first game.

Looks like a shit referee has gifted Bournemouth the points again. It feels more unjust considering how you stole the points at Molineux thanks to mistakes from the officials. Lost a lot of respect for AFCB.

What has refereeing decisions got to do with your levels of respect for AFCB? We can't do anything about them. Frankly speaking, we don't think much of a section of Wolves fans either given the vitriol after the Molineux game, but these things happen and both teams will have had plenty of debatable decisions go for and against them.

We've certainly had a lot of hard luck recently - so we think, but I can't see much to complain about last night. 'Gifted us the points' - I think is going rather over the top.

I had a great view of the penalty and I couldn't make up my mind on whether it was inside or outside - it was probably a coin flip either way. You can't blame the ref for literally a 50/50 call. The SSN footage is also very inconclusive. The ref and linesman for their part instantly gave it as a pen and seemed surprisingly decisive. To be honest - you could look at your keeper because it was a crap penalty from Kermorgant. Really should have been saved, the keeper went the right way and the ball rolled under him.

The handball shout is impossible to comment on, only the Wolves fans will have gotten a look at it conveniently. Whilst they all shouted handball as you do, they didn't seem to react particularly upset? The reaction seemed more in hope than adamant. But for all I know it might be the clearest handball you could see, we had no chance of seeing it in a packed box at the other end.

What I would say is that Wolves' attack being so full of pace and movement it is a right handful - and is probably likely to win them a lot of penalties over a period of time. I must credit KJ with the balls for setting up like that and sensing blood. It would have been easy to pack the midfield and use that pace purely on the break - but to actually move them all forward was a gutsy move. One that sometimes will pay off and sometimes will backfire, but it's refreshing.

I'll agree it comes across as bitter from my last post. I just feel there has been 2 games between us that have been marred by bad officiating decisions, that has gone to cost us points. I'll take back what a said about disrespecting Bournemouth, they're a decent club and got a good chance of going up.

They say what goes around comes around, but this season for what few decisions we have go for us, about 6 or 7 of them seem to go against us.

Don't agree. What gifted them the points was that we were second to almost every single ball all night. We gave them space and time on the ball all night long. I was in seat C236 almost directly in front of Elphick's hand and yes it struck him there (and there **was** anger AFCB_Mark..,but that's irrelevant). But decisions go both ways. There were as many poor decisions against them as against us.

It's simple. We lost to a far better team, and far better in every department. Excepting the occasional flash of brilliance, we looked out of our depth. I though Edwards had been subbed at half time he was so invisible in the second half. Price was just piss poor all night. Both Batth and Stearman played numerous poor balls and van la Parra's first time ball control was laughable, even if he was our main line of attack most of the evening. I don't think van la Parra or Sako got a single cross over in 90 minutes.

Doherty looked outclassed, and I don't understand why Golbourne wasn't brought on (or why Iorfa was left out). Despite Gallen and Jackett bigging up Jack Price, he seems to be our weakest link.

Our recent wins have been against struggling teams and it looks - sadly - like the Norwich game wasn't an aberration. We are simply not in the same class as the teams above us.

As for Saturday, I fear that Watford will also expose us. 2-0 to them possibly. I've said it a few times but I think we'll finish around 10th place this season and, to be honest, that's a fair position for us.

Looking at Bournemouth last night, and the form of the top teams, I predict this is going to be the tightest finish to the second-tier in history. I reckon that any of the top 5 can win the division, and add Brentford and Ipswich to that list for the play-offs. Wolves fans, players and staff can talk all they like about the play-offs, but it isn't going to happen this season. I also wonder if Jackett is the man to take us to the next level. This is not the first time this season I've seen the team unable to adapt to the way a game is going.

Good luck, Cherries. But please...get another fucking song, eh?

Heh, yes. Sadly anything that consists of more than about 5 words struggles to gain traction with the home crowd. We have to keep our songs dead simple and easy for the geriatric folks to understand or clap along to.

So our stock of songs at home isn't massive. But figure that mind numbing boring songs sang vaguely loud, at times if we're doing well - is better than nothing.
