.....so, the curtain raises.

It's been a disappointing pre-season IMO. I think the signings appear bang average, and we're still yet to replace Rory McArdle. We've invested in the future, somewhat, with a lot of the signings being young and relatively unknown.

Charlie Wyke is injured, and potential Poleon and Taylor. McCall still doesn't yet know his strongest startling XI, and deemed our performance vs Halifax at the weekend 'bang average'.

The diamond, I imagine, will be the formation - who plays though?

GK: Colin Doyle

RB: Tony McMahon
CB: Matt Killgallon
CB: Nat Knight-Percival
LB: Adam Chicksen

DCM: Romain Vincelot
RCM: Jake Reeves
LCM: Nicky Law
CAM: Shay McArten

ST: Alex Jones
ST: Omari Patrick

A little unlucky on Alex Gilliead, but I don't know how he would fit into a diamond.

Given our record at VP is second to none over the last few seasons, I'm gonna go for a very lacklustre 1-0 win.

Not sure on how many Blackpool fans are thinking about making the journey, but sure circa 1,000?

Att: 19,500ish.

No question whatsoever that it's been a disappointing preseason, performances, results and especially recruitment have all been a let down - Greg Abbott and the rest of the 'recruitment team' need to pull their finger out fast.
Saturday's starting 11 could be anything given the above and injuries to the likes of Wyke, it'll have to be padded out with some of the development lads although I can't see the likes of Patrick starting especially at the expense of someone like Gillead just so we can shoehorn in a 442 style formation. Saying that, are the likes of Poleon or Taylor even fully fit? The formation might be forced on us.
1-1 prediction, can't see us scoring many and should concede, echoes of last season already.

McMahon Kilgallon NKP Chicksen
McArten Vincelot Law Reeves Gillead
---------------------Jones----------------

Can't see many Blackpool fans travelling. Would do well to get 1,000. Most have lost connection with the club and will not turn up regardless on whether it's home or away. Fans will not buy tickets from the club as they will get a cut so POTG is the only option and it's a fiver increase on the day.

Jeff Stelling for me. Gone are the days where we supported Blackpool with pride.

Oyston out.

I won't make a prediction as I don't know how we will play. I fancy us to be up there again around the play offs this year when we sign a dedicated centre back but seems like a lot of City fans are more downbeat than me.

Might be a slow start though. We looked dreadful against Vale in our first game last year as well and got to Wembley, perhaps worth bearing in mind.

Made a bit of a meal of a fairly routine win, loads to improve on but a good 3 points to start with

Solid but unspectacular and grew into the game and got better as it went on. Impressed with Poleon when he came on, but he really should have scored as well. Reeves looks a good buy and might have a bit more to his game than Cullen, especially in the opposing half. Probably 2 defenders and a winger away from a complete squad but it's a good start with a lot of promise to the new players.
