When he took over Liverpool fans thought they'd appointed a Guardiola/Klopp hybrid, whereas the more intellectual posters advised he was David Brent.

For me this is the season the majority wake up and smell the coffee regarding this fraud. I think most Liverpool fans deep down know he's out of his depth and is doing more & more damage to Liverpool with every passing day.

We'll put it to a vote.

We'll just ignore the previous three unbeaten games and clean sheets.

Meh out of the top teams only City are cruising so far, Arsenal have struggled, Chelsea is all over the place just now, Manoo and Spurs are not powering through either. Until today Liverpool was doing fine. A bad day at the office. Brendan is here for the season and if he doesn't deliver he wont be here next. Nothing has changed.

They're a fragile bunch. They always fuck off for a day or two (a week or two in one members case) after a defeat. Soft as shite, the lot of them.

They've disappeared this afternoon, for some reason.

Strange that.
To be fair mate during that wonderful Moyes season Man u fans were as rare as rocking horse shit on here. I think you were the only one who had the bottle to stick around. The rest confirmed their status as glory supporters.

What have they got to be bitter about? Since he left Swansea they've only kept improving while Liverpool, at best, have stayed exactly the same (it could be argued that they've actually got worse, at least they used to win the odd trophy).

I wouldn't call Swansea's 2013/14 season where they went from 9th to 12th and sacked their manager an improvement.

Nice little club and all but can't handle European football all said and done.

Considering where Hodgson took Liverpool and how Dalglish completely failed when given a chance, Rodgers has hardly done bad.

First season - clears out a whole lot of deadwood, your Joe Coles, your Aquilanis. Brings in Sturridge and Coutinho in particular. They started very slow but were in much better form post Christmas.

Second season - You can't argue with how close they went to the title. The first half of the season was much improved and they were comfortably looking like Champions League qualifiers which was the remit. Then they motored to within a slip of the title.

Third season - Lingering disappointment of the previous season, the Suarez sale, the Sturridge and Flanagan pretty much entire season injuries. On the flip side, his first big mistakes was misspending in the transfer window. Mind you, when you lose the goals of Sturridge and Suarez, that is bound to impact any team. Yet for a while, up until playing United at home, they were right in the mix for a 4th place finish. Losing that basically derailed their final 6-7 games.

Fourth season - Despite a very disappointing 3-0 loss yesterday, I don't think many predicted 7 points from the first 3 games which on paper were difficult. Whilst he isn't perfect, I do think he gets a lot more flack than he deserves. I think he's spent much wiser this summer. Gomez, Milner, Firmino, Clyne and Benteke all look as if they are going to add something to the squad. It was the right time to sell Sterling whilst getting £12 million for Aspas, Coates and Lambert combined is good business. They're not fluent yet but I do think he'll have them challenging again for 4th spot and really that's what we should expect from Liverpool this season.

That season was a blip but in general I think it's fair to say they're a team on the up, they're able to attract a better quality of player and are very much seen as a team that could disrupt the top 7. Considering where they've came from, that's impressive.

Under Rodgers Liverpool are still finding it hard to keep hold of their best talent and have failed to win anything. The season in which they finished 2nd was impressive but ultimately ended in failure, fair enough they qualified for the CL from it but they could only embarrass themselves in that, losing out to Basel in the group stages. Without having the best player in the league I can't see Rodgers getting them as high as 2nd again, they just seem like a team going nowhere under Brendan.

Aren't you from London? Not even Manc.

I'm neither from London nor a Manc, how is that relevant in any way to Liverpool fans on the internet staying around and taking stick/hiding after their team loses?

I've heard tale you are a Tory-voting Liverpool fan who pretends to support Hull and vote Labour. What say you to that?

They're back where they started. They've spent £300m to be not in the Champions League, having won no trophies and lost two of their best players, failed to fix a defence which has been porous since Rodgers took over, and all he's done to the deadwood is to make it more expensive (some of which is out on loan and some of which is still making a spectacle of itself in central defence). They had one giddy season but ultimately they've got nowhere under him.

He's up against it with the other teams up there, but let's not overstate his accomplishments. They are negligible.

Edit: also praising him for "good business" in getting £12m for Aspas, Coates and Lambert :2thumb: he spent £12m on two of them to do absolutely fuck all except depreciate in value. Good business :£

It's good business in terms of what you'd consider them to be valued after their failings at Liverpool. But yes, without doubt Rodgers biggest weakness was in the transfer market last year.

I do disagree a bit with the opening paragraph. They're certainly not back to where they started. They had a horrible squad under Hodgson/King Kenny. He rejuvenated that. He has bought well this summer. Milner is a very clever signing. Clyne improves dramatically on Johnson. Benteke is a figurehead up top which was much needed and he will get goals. Gomez looks to be an excellent piece of business. Firmino has the potential to be a real asset also.

As for the defence, Gomez and Clyne look an upgrade defensively on Moreno and Johnson/Manquillo so I'd argue he is fixing the full back areas. Centre back is still an issue but let's wait and see if Lovren improves. Skrtel has had a good start to the season and I do rate Sakho despite him looking clumsy as fuck.

You also make it sound like losing Suarez was Rodgers fault? There wasn't much that could be done after the World Cup really. Rodgers did well to keep him for that season they went for the title really. Sterling simply left for a club in a loftier position at present to Liverpool.

Ultimately their progression under Rodgers has been two steps forward with last season being a step back. I do think that this season will see them slowly start to push forward again. They are nowhere near as in a bad position as they were when Rodgers first took over. That was a club who didn't have a prayer of a top four finish. This is currently a club that has a realistic ambition of that.
