Thats got to be as bad as Italy or La Liga those stats. The days when managers got time is over.

"FSG's decision to sack Rodgers was made before today's Merseyside derby, but the owners did not want to disrupt preparations for the match by making an announcement before the game. Even a victory at Goodison Park would not have prevented Rodgers losing his job.

"Rodgers was not told at Goodison Park. He was visited at home by Ian Ayre and I am told he took the news with dignity and good grace. Many of the players are now off on international duty and so there was was no chance to say goodbye to them."

It would have been a little strange for Rodgers to have been sacked after a victory.

Klopp would certainly be the best choice but I'm still sceptical as to why he'd come to Liverpool as we currently are. The guy could have his pick, to an extent. I'd be surprised but happy if he's named.

Mirror are reporting that they've got Klopp already too. Very interesting appointment if true. I doubt they'll do anything this season but I wonder what he'll make of that squad. It'll need an almost total overhaul if he's going to play the same way as at Dortmund. They've just spent £32.5m on Christian Benteke - does he fit?

He spent at least £200m (probably closer to £250m) on players and only a few of them – Sturridge and Coutinho – have actually proven good value for money. £25m on Lallana. £20m on Markovic. £20m on Lovren. £16m on Balotelli. I mean, that's the £75m Liverpool got for Suarez more than wiped out on 4 players who have added virtually nothing to their first team. £15m on Allen. £17m on Sakho. Another £20m or so spent collectively on guys who hardly got a run (Aspas, Assaidi, Alberto, Ilori, et al.).

Only mystery here is them not getting rid in the summer, before he spent another £60m.

Sky 'sources' reporting that Liverpool are yet to contact any replacements. Which would mean any reports of Klopp being a done deal are bullshit.

Not necessarily. Sky 'sources' didn't know anything about Rodgers getting sacked after the game.

Bit of a stupid statement from Carragher really. Big clubs aren't concerned about other clubs anyway.

Pretty sure they are. Would be nice that the board would have a contract pre-signed before giving Rodgers the boot but doubt it happens like that these days.

Bit gutted for Brendan really, I just think the pressure got to him far too much and it's caused him to walk away from the philosophy he came in with, over the past two seasons we've seen a completely different Brendan Rodgers, he's looked lost and a bit helpless. Whilst I agree with sacking I can't help but feel he's been made a bit of a scapegoat at the same time. Whoever the new manager is still has to use a squad that has absolutely no balance to it, the problems for me, lie deeper than just at the management. The transfer committee needs to be gone, 100%.

It will be interesting to see who comes in and if we will have a manager people respect, rather than treating with nothing but disdain and ridicule. It's not something we've had in the Premiership era really, despite the fact we've won pretty much everything a club can win bar the league title in that time.

Seems bizarre to back him so strongly in the summer, only to sack him at the start of October. Suggests to me the problems don't stop at the manager.

Klopp boasts an impressive CV haven’t won two Bundesliga titles and taken Dortmund to the 2013 Champions League final. The ECHO understands that he’s eager to hold talks with the Reds.

Here's hoping.

It's pitiful seeing the modern journalist racing to get whatever the strongest rumour they hear is out onto Twitter.
