On the back of a frustrating 1-0 last minute loss to Derby County in the Capital One Cup, Charlton will be hoping to bounce back and continue their impressive league campaign against Brighton on Saturday. Going against the bookmakers to be fifth in the ultra competitive championship, Manager Bob Peeters will be hoping to claim a first away win of the season against a team whose found its form with successive wins under the stewardship of former champions league winner Hyypiä. The overall head to head record between the pair would suggest a tight match, with Brighton shading it 24-21. Last season both teams secured home wins with Charlton edging an entertaining home fixture 3-2 in December, and Brighton winning the reverse comfortably 3-0.
Charlton have no fresh injury concerns and will welcome the return to fitness of first choice keeper Stephen Henderson, although Nick Pope has proven a able deputy barring a late mistake against derby county a few games pervious. As such, it should be a unchanged line up from their last championship encounter against Huddersfield with all four players called up to senior international duty this week, Ben Haim, Gudmundsson, Vetokele and Church likely to feature. Frank Moussa and Joe Gomez are the most likely to push for a start after impressive midweek showings. The Seagulls are likely to hand a debut to new striker Sam Baldock who joined from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee after seeing a huge 6 bids rejected for him earlier this summer, whilst several first teasers rested for the midweek cup match against Swindon should return including David Stockdale and joint top scorer in all competitions Craig Mackail-Smith.
Charlton are unlikely to tinker with a winning formula in their 4-4-2 formation, with top scorer Igor Vetokele likely to be partnered by George Tucudean in attack. Based on recent fixtures and both teams willingness to play open, expressive styles of football I'm predicting an entertaining affair with Charlton's knack of late goals contributing to a 2-1 victory, although it's very hard to call with most bookies offering best odds on a draw
