We're awful. Brighton like their goals at the moment, so I can only see a drubbing here.

Martin to get a consolation, as he seems to love scoring against these lot.

Guess this one's now just a bit of bonus game for us to try and keep the ridiculous run going and the confidence fully flowing heading into the final game. If we slip up here (not unfeasible), the task still remains the same in the 'winner takes all' at Boro.

With all the many, many permutations that have been whizzing round my head this past week, I'm sticking with the simpler situation outlined above.

On a side note, if Hull were to win today, do you think that would affect Wassall's team selection at all on Monday knowing it's guaranteed 5th for Derby? (Or can Wednesday still catch you? I've had enough of looking at that table..)

Ignore that last question then. How have Hull gone and lost at Bolton?!

We can still finish 4th, or 6th. It'll be 5th though.

Think Brighton will do us here, we just need to be careful GD wise, a thumping puts some unwanted pressure on us vs Ipswich at home on the last day. A point secures 5th and avoids one of the best 3 teams in the league so I'm confident we can get the job done. I was confident of getting a point against a Reading side with nothing to play for last year though.... :animatedf:

Brighton started like a house on fire here. No nerves showing but be interesting to see how they react if they don't get a goal soon.

Agreed. Also see if they run out of steam as they're playing at 100% an hour.

Only if burnley fail to win their last two games which won't really happen.

Happy with that tbh. Controlled that second half.

Big psychological boost that last minute goal, but Dunk being unavailable for the decider is a massive blow.

Second half was a decent watch.

Was it Derby chanting that cringey Achy Breaky Heart song?

Yee-haw!

Glad the game didn't mean too much to us, else that late goal would have been sickening. 4th is too big a ask now, no way Hull are losing only their second home game all season to Rotherham.

5th will make me happy as I wouldn't be able to get the night off work if the 2nd leg is at home.

Although meaningless, a decent result and performance none the less. Glad we've sorted ourselves out at the right time, the playoffs will be a different kettle of fish as ever mind.

Weird one really, wanted to celebrate the equaliser like it genuinely meant something but knew deep down it was nothing more than a morale booster.

Derby looked good, matched us in pretty much all areas really, inc. energy and workrate which I haven't been able to say too many times this season - the midfield did a great job of limiting Stephens' influence, in particular. As good a season as we've had, it's been the games against fellow top six sides where the 4-4-2 hasn't really worked as effectively, coming up against talented midfield trios who keep the ball well, shut down the space and make life more difficult for us. Hence the tight games and 85% draws against rest of the top six (or something like that).

Annoying to lose Dunk for our biggest game in a generation, but we were always likely to have to do it the hard way up at Boro..

Hard to convince people we're dreadful when you post stuff like this :( ;)

To be fair Rammy we've actually improved from the Hull game onwards. Whether that is just pure luck in that game and confidence boost of Bolton being the next game or whether it's Harry I don't know.

Hughes being back is massive. Best midfielder in the league imo
