So many positives today it's hard to know where to start. But first up I guess is.. GOALS. Seems we're capable of scoring some after all. Especially nice to have Hemed off the mark as we're gonna need him and Murray to lead the line as best they can in the absence any big striker signing (til Jan at least). The midfielders will need to contribute their share too, so it's wonderful to see Gross producing today, from the no. 10 role.
We had real control over today's game for large parts which was where it was in such stark contrast to the season opener vs City. Propper and Stephens in CM had a lot of the ball and used it wisely. March and Knockaert were lively out wide and Hemed, despite his detractors, did a good job of winning headers and holding up against the WBA giants.
Speaking of whom, I was really surprised by just how little West Brom offered today. I know there's a big emphasis on set pieces etc with Pulis but they really didn't offer much threat at all in general play, it was all SO one-dimensional and meant we could contain them with minimal fuss. Dunk had Rondon in his pocket all afternoon.
Anyway, plenty to build on with Bournemouth (A) and Newcastle (H) up next.
Like the look of Gross and think he could well be one of the signings of the season, as long as Houghton doesn't play like he did at Norwich a few years ago
