That should be for the Walsall game. We should go on then but not this Saturday.

I was thinking that - but assuming we win it, they'll want to present the trophy on the pitch therefore keep it clear.

Who knows though - it's not like we've got much experience of winning leagues.

Still, a nice quandary to have...

As I have 2 ST's between 3 of us and will bleeding well miss the Walsall game, I was hoping we would get the trophy immediately after winning it but I gather that won't happen even IF we DO win on Saturday. :ffs:

I'd have to respectfully disagree with Cotts here. Due to being so fucking brilliant this season we've basically got a bonus game. There's the Walsall game for the players to show their appreciation, do a lap of honour etc after lifting the trophy. But a pitch invasion is part of what makes seasons like this so special. I'll never forget going on after the Rotherham game last time, high fiving big Enoch, the togetherness and sheer jubilation - it's the moment that truly cemented my love for City as a kid. There's got to be one on Saturday

I'd prefer it on the final game - but fuck it, Saturday it is then.

We are quite used to joining in other teams celebrations, two seasons ago Southampton went up to the premiership against us,unfortunately the same game relegated us to league one.

Still a special day and saints fans still hold us in high regard for joining in the party.

If you want to party count the skyblue army in, we don't win sweet FA so we are up for saying goodbye and au revoir to the cider drinkers

I can't see any problems with that, we don't have any history of aggro with you (on the contrary - ask any Sunderland fan...). I just don't see the stewards allowing it though sadly.

Remember back in 2000 when Preston came down to win the league at Ashton Gate and Rovers threw away a play off place there were great celebrations on the pitch with both sets of fans.

A couple of seasons ago was a massive celebration and huge game against Coventry at home - won 3-1 to pretty much secure us safety in the Championship, and pretty much sending Coventry down.

All this after going 0-1 down.

Bolasie goal with his first moment on the ball ring any bells to anyone?

Yes remember the game, Jon Stead scored an OG to give us the lead.

Great scenes that day. Remember it particularly fondly since SSN ballsed up after that goal and had it as 2-1 to them, and my best mate who's a Cov fan sent me a text giving me all kinds of shit before he realised

Good day, that. It was part of the Easter Weekend that epitomised our great escape that year, with our backs to the wall 1-0 victory away against Forest, managed by our last two managers, as well as the Cov result. Take the first three games out of the next season and we'd have been best off losing that game, tbh.

Bolasie and Wood scored, and Pitman got sent off, but who got the first? Skuse?

I remember that day. Gary Deegan playing RW. The fish and chips were the best part of that game.

Coventry game? Stead scored an own goal then scored just after half time for us, Skuse scored against Barnsley or whoever to confirm survival, Stead also scored a penalty if I remember correctly.

If that was allowed to happen, it could be a brilliant day, as long as Coventry are safe from relegation. We do have a history of 'on pitch' celebrating together but only old buggers like me can remember it!

I was there ,were you cider up. I have got to admit when the Sunderland final score flashed up to keep both sides up was surreal. To see two sides totally unwilling to tackle the other side, and let each other pass unchallenged in their own half will stay with me forever.
You do know Sunderland fans despise us for that game, they only hate us not you,but God was it fantastic that night. They absolutely hate Jimmy Hill for that, they believe he had the power to start the game five minutes late,it weren't the police who called it due to crowd congestion .

I bloody hate them, they blame us for one game when they lost most of the other 42 games, but no it was Cov who sent them down. Bloody inbreds the lot of them.

As a young un the importance of THAT game did pass me by totally TBH but dad and his mate had bought tickets weeks before and we were going (remember the 3 day week? Shit, we're old). We were pretty much down a long time before the Coventry game and nobody gave us a hope in hell of stopping up but we did, thanks to Jimmy Hill.
Imagine that now plus the total charade of 2 teams staying in their own half knowing it would keep them up? Sky and Alan Brazil would explode!!
Happy, happy memories.

I know it's on a much lower level of importance, but Huddersfield and Barnsley did this a couple of years ago on the final day in the Championship. They just let one of the keepers have it for the last few minutes to guarantee each others survival

Wish I would've been around for that Coventry game, sounded like a mental one!

Amazing how Sunderland fans are still so bitter about it. Yes it wouldnt be allowed now but surely they only had themselves to blame as if theyd beaten Everton they would have stayed up at the expense of one of us. They blew that chance so deserved to go down. About time they got over it!!

Was proper fun - was sat right at the front of the Atyeo for some reason, absolutely soaking wet, but it was one of the best games for years.

Despite not even being old enough to be around at that time, I still hate Sunderland fans. The shite they have given us about SISU, relegation, the move to Northampton and so on, was worse than what Villa and Leicester gave us.

If we got them in the FA Cup next season at the Ricoh, it would be a very tasty game. I'd imagine the Jimmy Hill statue would have to be blocked off!

Have we got our wires crossed here JJH? We were talking about a game in 1977 so I'm not sure what you're on about bud? Sorry.
Read up mate - was on about the game from a few years ago mate, when we played them in the Championship relegation decider.

No it isn't. Preston could win all their games 10-0. :bye:
We don't do goalless draws by the way.
Cott's wants the 100.
EDIT: Should have said 101, thanks CH96.

Good luck tomorrow.

I had £5 (big spender, I know) at the start of the season on Brizzle to win the league...on the basis that if it wasn't us it would be them, well at least I was part right that one of us would do well!
