No other club made an offer or declared a formal interest then?

There is nothing either that reports Hull had tried to sign him back in January. Footballers always recite the same, cliched BS to appease the supporters.
Newcastle's local rag kept reporting their interest.

Obviously there would have been other clubs for him, obviously he could have gone higher up the food chain. He came here, I'm still not sure why we're arguing about it - I'm delighted, and I'm sure you'd be absolutely delighted to have an impact player of his calibre in this division at your club.

No idea if it was hull or not, but there was definitely a top 6 club after Tomlin on loan back in January, the main reason he joined us was down to his best mate playing for us.

Euros I'd take a guess at, £3m would smash our transfer record by a good £700k.

So Magnusson £2.5m, Tomlin £2m, O'Neill and Brownhill so far, good recruitment so far, another CB, ST and RB needed really, O'Dowda linked to coming in and we could be set for a good season, let Newcastle and a couple of other big hitters bugger off and things could be interesting next season after more recruitment.... (yes I am looking almost 2 years in advance here)
Matthews, Elkstrom and Abraham plus O'Dowda and we're almost ready to go unless we fancy an extra keeper? All linked so you never know. Keeping Flinty and Kodj is the major problem methinks.
We've still got the keeper from Bayern, Ivan Lukic and Sam Armentoros to look at as well.

Flint and Kodjia won't be going nowhere cheaply. £8m on Flint's head, £10m on Kodjia's. If any club are daft enough to pay that for either I'll wish them the very best wherever they go.

I think they might bud, that's what bothers me.

You could replace Flint for a mere quarter of that. Kodjia you wouldn't get a proven 20 goal a season striker for any price less than £9m nowadays, but we'll have replacements lined up.

Personally, I'm not worried about losing either, especially not to any clubs in this division, so we shall see.

Suggest moving this to the City thread as its drifting from informing people of rumours/confirmed deals

Expect we'd try going after someone like Nahki Wells if we sold Kodjia, and while he'd cost a chunk, I don't think it would cost £9m, maybe £6m with some add on clauses.

Just moved the posts into this thread mate, good call.

Why would Wells come here though? Can you imagine if Huddersfield sold Wells and they went in for Kodjia? We'd be fucking pissing ourselves.

As mentioned on OTIB, we're putting together a very strong 'spine'...

--------------------ROD
-------Flint----------------Magnusson

--------Korey / Marlon-------Gary O'Neill

-------------------Tomlin

--------------------Kodjia

Liking that, alot!

Just a case of who I reckon we'd go for, potential wage rise, we've made some impressive signings, potential of more money for reinvestment could convince him that we'll add more, you never know. There aren't many strikers below us I'd really want, Winnall would probably be high up on my list, however LJ is the expert on him and if he wanted him I expect he'd already be here. Other than that I expect we'd look abroad again.

Club has put DiGirolamo and Jonny Smith on the transfer tracker, other development squad signings don't go there so they can be added into that. That being said I don't expect them to have large roles in the season.
In general our squad is fairly young and it's feasible we could have enough (potential) quality here that we will have some summers which are pretty quiet without that being an issue

DiGirolamo was aimed at U21's where there was the chance of him impressing and getting the odd first team chance, while unreported I think Smith will be similar. Hence why they're included as they may appear in the first team squad.

Smith will have a role like Burns of 2013/14 if not more prominent

Probably depends how his pre season goes tbh, seems to have made a decent start and have to trust LJ's judgement if he thinks he's ready.

So Burns indeed shipped out on loan, however after agreeing to a 2 year contract with an option for an extra year. Good move all round I reckon, ties him down and should see him get regular first team football this season.

Very strange letting Burns go back out on loan considering the size of the squad

Says to me that Johnson isn't anywhere near finished, Tammy Abraham supposedly coming in on loan as an extra striker as well.

Pretty certain O'Dowda is the player the secret footballer mentions in his book.

In what context?

Talks about a player he was trying to act on behalf of, good enough to play for England, but dad got in his ear and now plays for Ireland. As Dave Kitson is the secret footballer who played for Oxford..

Quiet jealous of the business you guys have been doing tbh. O'dowda looks a cracking prospect and someone I was hoping we'd sign.

Might have to start being arsey with you all again.

Can't see Kodjia listed on the Sky Bet top goalscorers odds list.
