The Wednesday
Professional debut for our young keeper Joe Wildsmith, joined Barnsley on loan today and goes straight into the team, excellent prospect and just 18, will be keeping an eye out for the result now.

Nah, it's just a bit of the old ex player guff, really.

Same goes for McCormack and Douglas at Brentford.

Flint wouldn't suit our 'style' at all, so we should both be happy - we got a decent wedge and you got a player doing a good job for you
Fair enough I can see why you give a former player stick but I have seen some Swindon fans wishing he'd break a leg and stuff which is a bit OTT for me.

Your style? We play the ball on the deck and he suits our style fine. Could also give your defense a few tips on scoring. Are you saying on this season's form he wouldn't get in your team?

Our CBs have to be able to take the ball well into the opposition half and play others in. As an example, our winning goal against donny was set up by a pass from CB Turnbull to Obika well inside their half.

We don't really do the blood and guts, head and boot it away CB.

I take your point about goals, though.

Not saying he isn't effective for you, but he honestly wouldn't suit us.

Do you think you need all 3 to be able to run with the ball? Just saying as with us Ayling and Williams are the ball carriers whilst Flint sits and bosses his area. Gives us a good balance

Fair enough. Just horses for courses. I suppose Branco is a bit more of a conventional CB, but even he is comfortable taking the ball forward.

Obviously has it's drawbacks when things break down we do get caught short at the back, but that's how we play. Risk/reward football.

I seem to remember Flint taking the ball forward into the other teams half a few times, this season and last. Not so much a case of he can't, more that Ayling and williams are better at it and also faster, meaning they can get back quicker if the ball is given away while they are in an advanced position

He also hasn't had a solitary booking all season! For a sweeper / centre half, that's some record.

Piss off. Wildsmith clean sheet :D
Ha, is he starting then? Don't know anything about him but if he's English I'll be willing him along from his 2nd game onwards :D

Big blow losing Davies, he's been instrumental in our defensive turnaround these last 8 games. Hopefully the kid coming in does a decent job, and he'll need to take charge as well with Flint/Ayling challenging from corners/free-kicks etc.

We'll probably lose tomorrow but as long as it's not a bumming our morale shouldn't suffer too much. Would take a point before kick off, as I would've with Preston last week.

Not just Flint and Ayling Jamo. Wilbraham, Williams and JET are all pretty tall as well.
Can your full backs shift a bit as Bryan and Little play more like wingers than full backs at times and both are quick!

JETS tall, but he doesn't jump so he's not a threat aerially. Bryan leaps like a salmon though and little scored a header on Sunday too.. Can't remember the last time we had so many aerial threats in the same team!

Holgate and John aren't slow, and the latter from the 180 minutes I've seen of him likes attacking more than defending as well. We're pretty handy from set-pieces ourselves and if we get on the scoresheet I expect it to be from one.

That sounds like our 2 Jamo. Do you play a back 4 or a 3 / 5? If it's a 4, I would imagine it leaves you a bit open at times?

The fact we can mix it up is probably the main reason we're top and you're not :bg:
The reason you are top and not us is because you have managed to see off the real cruddy sides whilst we have not, consistently.

We have gained more points than any other team when playing the top 12 sides, averaging 2.2 points per game. Against the bottom half we only average 1.5 points per game.

As with most things, it's consistency that gets you to the top

There are 24 teams in the league Dan making your comment daft. Preston and yourselves could say they have the best record against the top 1 but it doesn't make you top of the table. There's obviously a complacent attitude at your place or you would be higher.
We have the best record against the other 23, that's why we're top!

I'm not disputing you deserve to be top - just pointing out that we have done better against the top 12 sides than the bottom 11.

The reason you are top is because you are more consistent.

Can't see what's daft about that

I should have used the term 'irrelevant' then. We could be shite against the top teams but hammer all the sides near the bottom and still be top!

Jeez, I'm not denying that. The very fact you are top makes it obvious.

I'm just pointing out, again, that we do better against the better teams as compared to the not so good.

I fail to see how that can be construed as me saying we are a better side than you
