I love Kodjia but his finishing isn't particularly good and he's scored 20 in a higher league.

Baldock is shite and his record at Championship level fully reflects that.
Kodjia's the better of the two no question, but he's still perfectly decent at this level. And if you can score plenty of goals without even being the most clinical finisher that would be a positive, no?

Baldock's scored 4 in 29 this season for a side 3rd in the league, 2 of them were against us.

Kodjia is undoubtedly better than Baldock, I wouldn't have Baldock back here as I don't think you can get away with squandering the amount of chances he does in this league.

And as to his record, 10 goals for us was not a bad haul at all given the shiteness of the team behind him, 5 in 10 for West Ham and whilst he's not been the most prolific at Brighton his contribution to all round play has been very good, why do you think Hughton starts him regularly when fit?

I wouldn't be averse to signing him back if Brighton go up and decide to let him go. Think his movement and pressing alongside Kodjia could be very effective.

That was a very untrue reflection in Baldock's favour. Reason being he scored 4 pens for us that season so got just 6 goals from open play. Steve Davies got 13 with just 1 penalty.

His West Ham record was nowhere near 5 in 10 so not sure where you got that from, was 5 in 23.

7 in 46 at Brighton with like 90% of those starts. 1 of those was actually a Flint own goal.

I'd be fucked right off if we signed him. He can't cut it at this level and we've done so much better without him. I was happy when we sold him originally.

Ah yeah, was 5 in 10 starts at the Hammers.

We've done better without him because we've had better managers (remember how his form shot up when Cotterill came in?) and improved vastly the rest of the team. He's better than his replacement Agard.

Wonder if Costello would share your assessment

He's played his part for us - intelligent movement and selfless running that creates space for Hemed and the like to grab the glory but it's true that he's shown very few signs of being a clinical/predatory goalscorer for us. A pretty underwhelming return given what we paid and would undoubtedly be one of the players most Albion fans would look to be upgrading if we do go up, or possibly even if we stay down.

To be fair to him though he was playing in a restrictive left-wing position during our relegation battle last season and has had to work his way back from two pretty long-term injuries which hasn't done his goal tally any favours.
