After the tortuous weekend of no Championship football, shit Rugby (regarding England) and not even Bristol Rovers to laugh at as a consolation, I eagerly anticipate this upcoming match, for a slight change.

As for the game, take your pick. We'll lose - but the score is anyone's guess, as is our team. The two new recruits seem to signify a change in formation, but whether they'll both be bedded into the starting line-up remains to be seen.

What I am sure of, however we line-up, is that we'll start well, miss a few early half chances and then either get done on the break or concede from a set-piece. Stick yer money on it.

Optimistic as ever, you'll make a great journalist :err:

I'm driving up to Liverpool Friday so hopefully will grab this one on the box or record at home at least for when I get home.

JJH wouldn't be out of place on OTIB at all.

Spookily accurate summation of our season thus far. :(

The tide WILL turn at some point, although the sooner the better!

Hate the loan system personally, but looks like 2 decent additions. 2-0 by half time, and then a nervous 45 while we sit back and try to defend. 2-1 final score.

First match of the season for me. I think on paper this looks very winnable, but I looked through the City team and they have players who can hurt us.

I also had a quick look through OTIB. One thing that strikes me is that there seems to be no concensus on formation or strongest team. I've seen people advocating 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 with players popping up in different places all over the shop. This 'Bryan' chap in 3 consecutive posts went from left back, to left mid, to the left hand side of a front 3. This can't be a good sign and probably shows why you've struggled so far. Need some consistency!

We've always played 532 with wing backs, just people would rather us change from the formation. More than likely formation:

..............................................Fielding
....................Ayling.................Flint....................Baker
Bennett...........................................................................Bryan
....................Pack........................................Smith
.............................................Freeman
................................Kodjia.....................Wilbraham/Cox

Cotterill alluded to him seeing Bennett as a wing back for us.

What happened to Little? I went to the JPT final last year and thought he was your best player (Agard looked good too).

I am going with that to the bookies.

We could get away with his lack of tracking back and defensive awareness last season in league 1, so far in the championship defensively he's been horribly exposed.

Unfortunately Mark Little has very limited footballing ability. He's just incredibly fast and powerful which makes him a good asset to have in league one, but isn't effective enough against better left backs. He can't really control or cross a football, and he's not that great at defending either. Was never going to be good enough for the Championship.

Little's not been himself since the injury.

Don't want to sound over dramatic but I think we're at a point now where it's a must-win game. Hopefully Cox and Bennett can give us some added impetus.

Little couldn't defend last year either  Just last year Ayling covering and as a back 4 they were very capable as a back 4, not this season though.

Bit strong on Little I feel, he's hardly been horribly exposed. Barely played as of yet. With his injury in preseason, as said he's a player so reliant on his strength and power, it really set him back. He's only just getting back to full fitness

Since when has that stopped you

Defensively we have been pretty sound this year and a lot of goals have come from either long range punts or a bit of bad luck, particularly over the last few weeks.

Lichaj - Wilson - Mills - Pinillos is a pretty solid base

However, Lichaj and Mills are suspended, Wilson and Mancienne are both injured which leaves us with no right back and only Hobbs (who is still rusty as hell) as a centre back. Think we will have to throw in Roger Riera tomorrow night and maybe Chris Burke at right back!? I do wonder if Wilson will be fit enough to play, will be interesting. We have Trotter to come in as well to sit in front of the back 4. Vaughan played 90 minutes on Tuesday and he's another one we are carefully managing so I doubt he will play either. I'm hoping for

If you've got a makeshift right back, that's good news for us as Joe Bryan will, hopefully, push on as and when he can and he certainly can deliver a ball.
I think this is heading for a draw in all honesty, as, although Forest are deleted by injuries, they appear to be more than decent away from home.
Would love a win and we need it, but 2-2.

Lump on BTTS for this one in that case!

Also pretty pessimistic, for a change. Just after the manner of the MK game, confidence looked absolutely shot. And having 2 weeks to brood on it, Cotterill's had one hell of a job picking them back up.

We did bounce back well from the Reading game with a good performance at Ipswich, so hopefully he can, we need to get a home win sooner rather than later. And we have got a very good record on Sky...kinda talking myself into some positivity here, but I can't see it this time

1-2 (Cox, Lansbury Oliveira)

I fancy our chances tomorrow night. Forest aren't in great form and we need a result! What with Cardiff and Brighton away coming up.

2-1 City

Simon Cox scoring the winner against his former club.

TBH I'd like to just see us go for the kill. We were 1 up at Huddersfield and comfortable, they were there for the taking but we sat back and they equalised (albeit with a massive deflection from 30 yards out).

No disrespect but against a team bang out of form, shipping goals left, right and centre, I would really like to see us make City worry about us and not vice versa.

Lansbury, Oliveira, Mendes, Ward, Williams, Walker, CoG etc... We have players that can really hurt the opposition and if we attack we can just aim to outscore them.

We wont do this, DF has his roots set on being solid at the back, but I feel like it's inhibiting us going forward. I'm sure we will strike the balance in time.

To be honest sitting back might not be the worst of tactics against us. We've got goals in the side but have been very vulnerable on the counter attack.

Any idea how many you're bringing down?

Well so much for lacking confidence! Tbh we've started like that several times this season but the difference tonight being we've taken the chances to back it up and Forest haven't been absolutely clinical.

Freeman outstanding so far. Had a tough start to the season but that's back to how we know he can play, running the show. Wilbs' best display so far, Smith and Pack looking strong, Flint bossing O'Grady. Still a way to go yet though, need to keep it up unlike against MK and there's still signs the gaps are there on the break if Forest can find a bit of extra quality
