Cannot wait for this, amid all the takeover uncertainty it's gonna be great to have some bloody football to watch! Hope we can get off to a good start and I'd probably take a draw right now.

2-2 (Rico x2)

It's great to be back and I can't wait for the game . Feels like a proper , solid league fixture for our first match . Going for a 2-1 gas win .

My God it's good to be back in the Football League, and it's just as pleasing that football is back full stop. Hallelujah!

Looking forward to this one already and sincerely hope we get some of our injured players back in time to feature, because with our strongest side out we'll be a strong team IMO.

Will call a scoreline later in the week.

How'd you work that one out then? Little Wycombe angry that Rovers bounced back so quickly?

Anyway, it sounds as if we will have a new right winger signed on loan from a Championship club before Saturday, so that will give us another option. Intrigued to find out who it is.

Im guessing Holmes will only be fit enough for the bench, don't think Maloney will make it either which is a big blow.

I can see this season playing out similarly to last for us, loads of goals at both ends, going for a 2-1 victory for us, Adams and Rico.

Expecting us to line up like this:

Clarke
Lelan Diamond Cresswell Buchanan
Byrom Taylor
D'ath Adams Potter
Richards

I'm interested to see how many of our injury doubts will be in/out of this one. I really fear for the worse if we have no Brown/Macca/Mansell. Would take a point if a few of those are out no doubt.

Northampton fans, will O'Toole play any part? On the bench perhaps? He'll get a fantastic reaction here if so...

I got a feeling were going to be lethal on the wings saturday, cristian montano and jeffrey monakana both got great pace, skill and can hit a ball,
( thats going by youtube of coarse) ;)

Looking forward to it, two teams i imagine finishing around the same area come next may.

Well we were not very good today , decent first ten minutes , dodgy penalty shout . After that Northampton were pretty comfortable barring a couple of chances . It would have to be o tool with the goal though !! Overall Northampton were very professional but there is no need for the gas meltdown I've seen on Twitter , the team just needs to calm down and realise they are good enough for league two .

Really was rather easy, better all over the park today. Rovers were really poor, and only had two good chances that we gifted them. Top away performance, our pressing forced them to hoof it and that's meat and drink for Cresswell and Diamond. Great start!

Can't argue with any of that , your midfield did a cracking job on lines , didn't get a kick . You should do well this season .

Didn't think much of either teams really. Long balls all day... That performance isn't the rovers we're used to over the past year. We never start well anyway

How disappointing. Unfortunately I cannot get to games any more as I've moved to Slovakia so it's a shame to hear we were poor. But we never start well tbf

No.6 for Northampton think it was cresswell was outstanding, there centre back pair will win them games no doubt. We got nothing up front it might be premature but I said all summer we need a decent striker, Harrison and Taylor is out there depth

How Taylor didn't score I'll never know, he could of just knocked it in with his left peg.

It's ironic, we were really poor and yet we could easily have scored two yesterday if Taylor and Harrison had taken their gilt-edged chances.

We got sucked into playing long balls like Northampton were and that just doesn't suit us. As soon as we did, it played to their strengths and they grew into the game. Once O'Toole scored (typical) you were more 'streetwise' as DC commented post-match - e.g time wasting (not a moan, we all do it when leading in matches), surrounding the ref, slowing the game down etc. We didn't know how to deal with that and Cobblers saw the game out pretty comfortably in the end.

Different game if Taylor scores in the first half, but unfortunately he is shocking at one-on-ones and it's cost us. A superb crowd (third best in Leagues One and Two) and as always we play dourly, which won't do much to get the fair-weather fans back through the turnstiles in future.

I'll be honest , I'm suprised Rovers lost .... I still think you'll be up there at the end of the season , perhaps a little early reminder that this is the professional league won't come in wrong

3 words to describe Northampton....Big, Ugly, Effective. Pretty typical of all the Northampton sides i have seen down the years...Definate top 7 side due to there style...2 lumps at the back and 2 lumps in midfield and 1 lump up front lol..Fair play tho, deserved your win.

Bit unfair on Richards and Byrom. Richards in particular is far from just a lump. Looking forward to d'ath and Holmes coming back into the starting line up. Happy with a solid opening game though.
