After the latest spate of televised fixtures, someone on our forum has loosely suggested that they're bringing the cameras to such dull fixtures in an attempt to justify dropping Conference footage next season. I really like what I've seen on BT Sport, but I wouldn't put it past them. Just what other reason is there to film Welling vs. Altrincham? I'm not implying they're unbroadcastably tinpot either as Welling vs. Darford and Altrincham vs. Macclesfield would've both been much more worth filming.

Its obviously their last choice, I guess Wrexham/Chester didn't want to be moved and us and Woking were willing too but due to other fixtures and the BBC they had to change it last minute.

Don't think it really matters what games are on to be honest, I imagine the majority of viewers are fans of the teams involved, I certainly don't watch any other conference games other than ones involving us, the quality is bad enough already without subjecting yourself to games that have no meaning to you.

I don't watch the other matches religiously, but I'll often watch 20 minutes here or there if a conference game is on. It's nice to see other teams playing and they're normally entertaining IMO. I guess they didn't want to put our game on the Monday because floaters would watch Arsenal v Utd instead, still could have been put on the Tuesday or Wednesday instead. Doesn't really make much financial difference anyway, £5k I believe which makes for about 350 odd extra people which is what we'd lose by having the game midweek/on TV anyway.

I think that too. With their Acquisition of Champions League Football they wont renew the Conference

I agree with you totally about BT Sport and, although I don't have Sky so can't compare with that, think they do a much better job of covering football than ITV. It will be a pity if they don't renew the contract as I think their involvement has been wholly positive for the Conference, it has certainly raised its profile, even people who don't follow one of our teams seem to enjoy the coverage. As for the matches they choose to cover, normally the balance is right and I have enjoyed a few games where I didn't have a direct interest in the teams playing, Grimsby v Barnet, Chester v Wrexham and Halifax v Woking were all good adverts for non-league football, despite the results not pleasing everyone who posts on here!

As an Alty fan I recognise Welling vs Altrincham is probably the least interesting fixture that could have been chosen. Plain odd.

So we're the only team not to have been on BT sport, what a surprise!
Big rumour we've asked NOT to be on in case of a drop in the attendance:dk:
Odd really cos normally when we've been on in the past our gate has gone UP, only our board!

Agreed. Us vs. Woking's probably the least interesting on there but it had the context at the time of us being the two best part time clubs at the time [Fact check this - Ed.], and thought it was a thoroughly depressing match these sort of fixtures do pique curiosity for me and others who may not have any connection to the two teams playing. Last season's figures showed we attract more than Bundesliga 1. games on the channel. I agree with Cardsfan on this one too, and I think the only BTSport match I've watched the whole way through has been the Luton/Barnet one from last season. A lot of that's down to me as a BT subscriber finding it impossible to stream BT online regardless though so I've always ended up watching choppy footage on wiziwig anyway.

And there are some times when you just want to veg out with a football game, any football game, on telly.

How Much Does the home club get? Surely it would more than cover the cost if there was a small de-crease in attendance.

I mentioned this early on mate. Think its 5k which for most teams is equivalent to about 350 people (which is what we would lose by having a midweek game). Probably brings in extra money through publicity mind.

Cheers.
I thought when we was on tele against FGR on 28th december last season, it would effect our attendance, especially being a 7:45pm kick off on a saturday night, turned out we had 100 or so more people in attendance.

Us tinpotters do like the novelty of being able to say "we were there" despite it being on tele.

That'll be worth watching...

You can all admire our, still, excellent pitch, though.

2-2/3-3 wasn't it? Stopped them winning the title on tv
Yeah 2 all we were two up, think it was the 3rd or 4th time we'd been on that season and nothing since.
Should be an easy win for Eastleigh as our lot gave up playing at home weeks ago, our last home win was January 31st.
Very late call to change it mind.

Have we been on the mos this season? 4 times I think (Dover, Torquay, Grimsby, Dartford). Got a feeling Rovers have been on at least that many times as well?

I assume BT will wait until after Saturday's games to decide the final game (or games?).

We will have been on 3 times (Aldershot, Macclesfield & Lincoln next week).
We won both the previous televised games too...although both were at home.

Personally I hope BT Sport choose to show Bristol Rovers vs Alfreton next weekend. I will be at Grimsby (where they may generously hand us 3 points ;)), however, this game has massive implications for both ends of the table and imo is the best game to show (although they will probably go to Barnet expecting them to win the game and the title).

And you won again today fair play to you, mind you do have some very decent players who should be playing way above this level.

Was a similar situation with Mansfield v Wrexham and kiddy v Stockport, the former was chosen, however, that was Premier Sports.
