Well we are going to have to improve massively but it's a solid start.

So cruel on Burton that. You couldn't say they didn't deserve the equaliser, lost count of the number of balls that flew across the face or fluffed shots inside the box, and then after their keeper having virtually nothing to do all game we go and sucker punch them at the death. Hope from today that doesn't become the story of their season.

But right now, I couldn't give a flying fuck! Absolute scenes! Abraham is God (winner looked like an own goal to me but 2 secs later I ended up at the bottom of a pile smashing into the advertising hoarding so kinda lost track of what was happening)

3 wins, through in the cup and top of the league, and all without even playing well really bar 20 mins vs Wigan. Can't complain with that!

(Though, P.S: We sold the wrong right back)

The question id like the answer to is did we sell Ayling over little because of Little's friendship with Tomlin....

Yep, Little is not good enough at this level. Seems crazy to let Ayling go when Matthews isn't fit.

2 matches in and only just scraped past Wigan and Burton Albion. Congratulations.
Your obsession with us reached to you now posting on our thread other than your own now? Weird.

I thought we where excellent today and deserved at least a point..but school boy defending at the end will get you punished at this level.
Rue our poor finishing today - but can't fault the effort, if we play like that every week we have a chance.

Oh well - onto Wednesday on Tuesday. ( so to speak )

I would agree totally Bartonyellow. Thought we were very fortunate to get the win and your plight is giving me deja vu about our start last season!
Fwiw I think you'll surprise a lot of sides this term and I genuinely hope it starts to pick up for you

To be fair to your fans we are hardly a big draw, and you got 22 more home games to enjoy- more if you stay up- some against much bigger clubs.

Worse than I thought as it happens. 4579. Absolutely shocking but proves that the people of Burton don't give a fuck about the football club. I appreciate you thinking that you might not be as big a draw as other clubs but it was our first home game in this league. After STH's and away fans that's approx 900 tickets sold. See how many turn up when Liverpool tickets go on sale...

On to the game. Thought it was entertaining and we were worth at least a point but if you lapse twice as we did and don't take your chances then you don't deserve anything. We're definitely playing better football than we have done for a very long time but my worry is we're not going to be clinical enough. Still, early days. I'm fairly optimistic about seeing entertaining football again at the Pirelli. Only thing that ruined it for me was the cheers that went up when Tom Flanagan (right side wing back) got subbed. Yes he had a bad game but cheering his substitution? Really???

Thanks for the kind words
Good luck for the season. If u can win and not play well, it says a lot for your ability this season. Mentality is so key.

He was shite but didn't deserve the ironic cheers. He's a young lad so it will Hardly help his confidence.

I don't think they were ironic. He had a black mark put against his name the second Cloughie gave him the no.2 shirt. There were a group of lads near me in the west stand who were slating him from the start. I thought he had a fairly decent first half if I'm honest. We did look better when Lucas went out there though.

Fair summary. You played some pretty stuff in the middle, that Palmer looks a right player. You'll face worse teams than us this season, and if you put that performance in you'll come out with more from the game.

Best of luck, hope you do the impossible and survive!

I would disagree, I thought both teams were very poor. I agree that you deserved at least a point though.
For a spell in the second half you were good and it lead to your deserved goal, but I felt both sides had it in them to kick it up an extra gear (or in our case 2-3). The whipped balls across our box caused us issues from the start, but apart from that you didn't provide any threat.

However if your players put that into every game you will have every chance of staying up.

Just to add, the Burton fans made some good noise once they equalised, get something like that going from the start and you could make the Pirelli a horrible place for teams to come and play, especially with the pitch going so close to the stands.

The set up of the Pirelli is ideal for creating an intimidating atmosphere but the problem is we've just not got that type of support. 75% of the west stand and the popside are stood with their arms folded and of the "give me something to cheer about and I'll cheer" variety. The small pocket of fans behind the goal do their level best every home game but unless we're on top and shooting towards the home end it's like flogging a dead horse getting something going. As I've said before, the only intimidating going on today was towards one of our own players, sadly.

Hate to agree but it's true. Still a large element of non league support left over - bring a flask and tut if someone next to u dares to make some noise. Was better when we scored though today, and more noise as we pressed. When the ground is rocking it can be really good, but it's too few and far between.
Away from home is different though - we seem to have got much more vocal away, and numbers have increased too, with an average going up from under 200 to 600

Could there be an element of you progressing too quickly to have grown the louder support? I'd imagine if you can consolidate in the Championship for a few seasons it will grow a bit.

Possibly yes. Hopefully we get to find out, although defending like we did today and it's back to Oldham away.
