Still early days but for a club that only gets 2000+ fans for their home games to be top of L1 without spending much money is quite unbelievable.

A lot of clubs can learn something from them, like how they're run for a start!

If Hasselbaink stays, they will.

Can't see him still being there come Christmas though. As soon as Championship clubs start sacking managers, they will all be keen on JFH.

Friendly little club who've come a long way in a short time, but done it the proper way with a squad built on solid foundations. Good luck to them, I hope their success continues

I don't see them staying there all season but fair play. Ive said it before, they're a club that are a role models that most other clubs (mine included) should aspire to.

Keep it going lads.

Burton are an excellently run club, and with momentum built up over the last few years why can't they do the seemingly impossible and get promoted again? Good luck to them.

I can understand why Southend fans don't like Burton given our results against them over the last couple of seasons !
Our average home support is around 2,400 to 2,700 which is obviously small compared to most clubs but it is growing. It is taking a long time but we were still in the Unibond league in 2002.
The club is run correctly at a profit by our long serving chairman Ben Robinson and looking at if from a wider aspect it is probably very good for English football that we continue to achieve as we do.
Everybody seems to think JFH will jump ship as soon as any big club comes calling but I'm not so sure that is the case. Sure eventually a really big club will come in for Jimmy and he will go, he is destined for the top, of that I have absolutely no doubt. But Jimmy chose Burton Albion for his first job in English football for reasons very important to him. He picked his chairman, how the club is run and the vast community projects run by the clubs community trust plus the family values the club stands for all were a good match for Jimmy's values and principals.
Regarding this season, I never ever thought we could reach the championship, of course its very early days yet but we are top and maybe the unthinkable is possible. I have seen nothing to frighten us football wise, other clubs in this division maybe have some better quality players than we do but we have an organised team and a game plan masterminded by JFH and David Oldfield, we have belief, ambition and superb team spirit allied to a lot of ability.
We may well fall flat on our face at some stage but I seriously doubt it, the club are going to give it everything we have got, I like what the players say, " we aren't playing the size of the club, its history or supporters but the 11 players on the pitch representing that club".
For a supporter like me with nearly 50 seasons under his belt its dreamland at present, I am going to enjoy the ride home and away and see where it takes us.

It's all momentum really, plus nothing the lose. Though fair play to them completely.

Next season will be the real test (unless they go up!)

Thanks for the love people (I'm getting a little tearful), except for Shrimpurh who seems to have a obsessive dislike of Burton for some reason.

Is it because you were fiddled with at the game last season before El Kyayati fiddled with you're defence all night, or that you just don't like clubs who do things the right way.

Please explain your problem,I'm sure you could book a suitable trick-cyclist to sort you out if required

If only they would get rid of their goal music I would like 'em.
We did look at changing the goal music but the players wanted to keep it !

Yes will be very surprised if its under 5000, think you have sold all your allocation, 1900 or something close plus 2,700 regular home support would give 4,600. Surely being top of the league we should get over 500 part timers in !

So 11 players overruled 3000 fans? Oh dear.

Yes goal music is so cringe worthy and an Americanism, although some bigger clubs do it as well.

Tom Hawk by the Piranhas !
That's quite a popular goal song Ive heard it from loads of other clubs. But hey if you do well again this season you wont be scoring many at home as teams will do nothing but defend and hold out until you get a last minute penalty whuch you end up missing, but score straight after it anyway...

To be fair Burton must have had the highest combined points total in the FL over the last 3 seasons with two play off attempts, a title and then leading this! Good club, enjoy our visits there and although their fans won't agree the 7-1 is one of the best nights I've had supporting the Vale!

Be a tough challenge this time around though. Can they keep it up? Its a weaker league so no Bristol City or PNE to worry about so why not? Depends how they cope when injuries and suspensions take hold later in the season but seem to be winning by the odd goal regardless of good or bad performances so looking rosey for them at the moment.

Yep a likeable and inoffensive club from my experiences there. Quite often pop to the Pirelli if I cant get to a Saddlers away game and generally have enjoyed the matches. Going to be difficult but keep it up. Would be fine by me if the table looked just like it does now after 46 games ;-)

Quite an 'interesting' away end too for any fans on their first visit this season. Lets just say the fairly lax approach to health and safety in there leads to quite a tight fit for the bigger followings!

So glad I couldn't make that horror show in Boslem !
The squad looks strong with cover in all positions, Darius Charles and Zeli Ismail havn't even played yet !

Always liked Stuart Beavon, completely under-utilised in our team and he's showing once again that he's a top player at this level.

Some very kind comments there, most appreciated.
If I didn't support Burton I would find us annoying as we do it on such a small budget and small crowds. To be in the same league as Coventry and sheff utd is crazy. Fleetwood must think the same.
Think we have reached our ceiling however and I can't see us staying in the top 2 sadly.
But while it all lasts I'm enjoying it. Certainly beats 35 of us watching kings Lynn away on a Tuesday night.

I think we win this award, we got 75 points last year and 103 points the year before. Not sure what Burton got though...

Edit: Wolves got 103, 75 and 15 this season (193). Burton have 72, 94 and 25 this season (191). So only 2 points in it.

I have too much time on my hands...

I think we are probably 3rd. 85, 89 and 7 = 181
