Bury v Burton Albion - Saturday 20th September 2014 - Venue: JD Stadium - KO: 3pm

An early season spectacular as Bury (2nd) host Burton Albion (1st) at the JD Stadium which will see Bury go top of the league if they beat Burton. Bury will be full of confidence as they are now unbeaten in there last 7 games and saw another victory on Tuesday night against Stevenage with another dominating performance. Burton will be looking to bounce back after there first defeat of the season at AFC Wimbledon, a poor 3-0 loss!

History has not been kind to Burton, the teams have met 6 times since Burton entered the league, Bury have 3 wins and 3 draws and do the maths, no defeats, something they will be looking to continue on Saturday.

Bury have no new injury concerns for the visit of Burton Albion. Boss David Flitcroft could change his striking options with Danny Nardiello and Clive Platt both fit again. Ryan Lowe and Danny Mayor took knocks against Stevenage but look likely to be fit for the match.

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett is expected to make changes following the
3-0 defeat against AFC Wimbledon. Striker Lucas Akins and defender Phil Edwards were both injured against the Dons and are rated as doubtful.

If Danny Mayor doesn't make it, Bury have a ready made replacement in Chris Hussey, who will be chomping at the bit to start against his former club.

The 25-year-old full-back joined the Shakers last season on loan but returned to the Brewers to help them in their League Two play-off campaign. His appearance in the final, which Burton lost 1-0 to Fleetwood, triggered a clause that automatically extended his contract for another year. But Hussey agreed to waive that to secure a summer move.

“Bury are a club on the up, so it was an easy decision to make to re-join them and I am enjoying being part of a winning environment,” Hussey said. “The main reasons I came back were the lads, the ambition of the chairman and the gaffer really,” he added. “No disrespect to Burton, I enjoyed my time there and I have nothing bad to say about them, but I’m a Bury player now.”

David Flitcroft (Flickers) Bury's manager has worked wonders with the team since he took over on the 9th December 2013, Bury go into the Burton clash on 17 points – a mark they took until November 26 to reach last season.

There is no doubt that clever recruitment, bringing in the likes of Pablo Mills, Jim McNulty, Kelvin Etuhu, Nicky Adams and Ryan Lowe, has helped him make a big impact at the JD Stadium, yet it is the improvement of players like Rob Lainton, Nathan Cameron, Craig Jones, Danny Mayor and Tom Soares, who were already at the club when Flitcroft arrived, that most excites the manager.
“Fifty per cent of the team that was out there (against Stevenage) was here when I arrived,” he said. “We have worked with them, we’ve got a development programme for them all and they are pulling up trees. “These are players that haven’t been brought in, they have been developed over a six-month period and that excites me because that’s where the club is going.

My prediction: Tomorrow will be a tough game, I wouldn't be too dissapointed with a draw but I am going for a win for Bury 2-1.

Bury fans sing loud and proud as ever and be the 12th man!
