First of all I'm 19 I know that's young but my plan is for the future not now, I decided that I want to make enough money to buy a club, you could say that it's risky or stupid but I know that's I would do no matter what. Okay so I decided this when I was 17 in my first year in college. I asked people to give me rough figures and incomes and expenses of Tier 6,7,8 teams and most responses I got was that you need atleast $150,000 as fee for purchasing a club that's debt free. But I know I need to have atleast $300,000 - $400,000 to be able to continue for atleast so I can fully take it over and the expenses in the club so I set my goal to have $350,000 before I move to the UK and do what I should do. I have start working a side job because I'm studying engineering which will pay me min of $70,000 a year when I graduate but my side job got me $60,000 saved up already which is like 17% of my goal which made me happy, and I'm working toward progressing through coaching online degree meanwhile. I currently have 2 years left of school and then plan to work for 1-2 years to get to my goal. It's time I need for a revaluation of the figures I put, if u guys can help me figure out 1- where that 150k fee would land me in which tier. 2- how much expenses and income will I have (good estimation please some of you may actually have experience) 3- would the coaching degree help me, should I continue progress in it as its in the US not UK. Any extra info and tips would be appreciated.

Thank you

If your for real, you should wait until your a multi millionaire before considering buying an English football club even at tiers 6/7/8. As for advice, try contacting fellow Americans Terry Smith (Chester), Bruce Osterman (Tranmere), and Jerry Sherman (Newport) who've all had their fingers burnt owning football clubs. Good luck.

Before buying a club in our country you should first understand that in England, football clubs belong to the communities that created and nurtured them. While as an owner you may have a piece of paper that says you "own" the club, you do not in any sense own a commodity that you are free to do as you want with. You are merely a custodian of the club and have a moral obligation to respect its traditions and the community to whom it TRULY belongs. As long as you remember that and act accordingly, you should manage to stay clear of any major problems. That is all. :£

I'm planning to keep working which will bump more income and will have more income pumping. I really think that's enough for a start, after all if the club breaking even we will be in good condition

I fully understand and thank you for actually providing me with good info, I understand how some big names and companies are screwing up some teams with history. I know the community plays 90% of the club, I know I could help them get what they deserve

$150,000 won't even buy you a striker these days pal.
Yea I know what you mean that's why I think tier 7 or 8 would be the best place to start I don't even mind going Lower, I just want to work as many years that it takes me to make it successful

Putting aside this is probably some crap wind up attempt, what do you expect to get out of owning your own football team? You do know that pretty much no one makes any money out of it and the majority of owners lose a shit load of money for little to no return. You're also likely to be hated by the majority of the clubs supporters unless you take the club forward in a very short space of time and even good work that increases the clubs income will be criticised if things aren't going well on the pitch.

Dude it's not always about making money, it's about seeing ur team playing good football and getting promotions and looking at fans that fall in love with the club. It's not a crap attempt if u don't want to do it, it's doesn't mean I can't

What is the quickest way to turn a billion into a million? Buy a footy club...i genuinely think you have the right attitude to make it mate but dont waste it on petulant greedy footballers, wayne rooney threatened to leave united unless he got a 2.6 million pound pay rise, duncan ferguson had a clause in his contract saying he was to be evertons top paid player so everytime everton improved the squad they had to budget for 2 pay packets not one. Tranmere have wawted a fortune this season on players who are blatently there for the money not the love of the club... If any players want to argue with that come and watch a video of saturdays johnny king tribute game!!

Your average footballer thinks dickins is a sexual act and proust is a french gp driver if you wanna waste your money on this lot mate go for it , but take it from a 45 year old socialist you will get more out of spending your money to help the underprivilidged in your local community!!

Good luck with it anyway matey

Not worth the effort or money, no idea why anybody would want to own a football club. Without Jim Parmenter we would have no club, he's dragged us from a bankrupt mess in the depths of non league to a top 5 conference club and people still complain. He's been fortunate in that cup runs have made us profitable but that's not common.

Running a football club is an expensive business, you need to be a multi, multi millionaire to even get close to having enough. Not sure many clubs at level 7 and below would be too impressed with foreign owners who know nothing about the non-league anyway.

That said, Ebbsfleet fell for the MyFC crap and Farnborough with the Paddy Power shit.

Not to mention the fact that you're unlikely to be earning anywhere near that amount at 19 in the UK.

Pretty sure this is a shit wind up attempt anyway

You say that, i would love to own a football club, a NL football club, where community and characters provide the foundations, and my ultimate aspirations would stretch no further than to consolidate in the Conf prem. Any further than that, and love and enthusiasm the principles behind wanting to own a NL club in the first place would inevitably be replaced by avarice and unrealistic, probably unsustainable commercial requirements.

Would want a club with a half decent support, 500/1000+ and though I hate the principle laying behind it, would probably look to buy one from the administrators. Rescuing a club, and ultimately saving it for the supporters, which by going into administration had obviously in the main been very poorly run, would be a huge challenge, albeit two steps down from whence they were.

It wouldn't cost a lot, by comparison to other perhaps more readily available possibilities, with the cost largely determined by the deal struck with outstanding creditors, and with a passion for NL football, and knowing what NL supporters want, and what their aspirations are I actually feel (within realistic boundaries) that you could quickly, over 3-5 years turn whatever club it was into a well run, well supported venture. You would never be rich, that's for sure, but people taking over NL and expecting to be so, are surely not the type of person you would want in charge of your club anyway.

I would eye clubs at step 3-4-5 which I think is realistic and where budgets are perhaps a bit more realistic. I know there are exceptions at every level, but most step 5 clubs would have a budget around the £ 600 - £1200 a week, Step 4 £1200 - £2000 and step 3 possible £1500 - £3000 x 40 weeks of the year say and it's not huge numbers, especially as mentioned earlier if one picked a club with a 500 to 1000 average crowd or certainly the prospect of attracting such numbers.

Bring to it, my commercial expertise, marketing principles, embrace the local community so even those outside the immediate football family by into it, build up and maximise the clubs social structure which is so vital, pick a manager who can buy in to what you want and who has experience and importantly a big book of players contacts relevant to that level, convince the local business community to endorse the new ownership and future he is trying to secure, and yes off you go, and why not, as long as you pay homage and do not lose control of the P&L, still the main reason clubs seeking the dream go under, of course it "can" be done

If nothing else, which unless you are only doing it for the short term can only end in tears, it could certainly be an enjoyable journey

I wouldn't even pick up your phone call or open your email, for those 2 reasons alone.
Go away, buy a US Soccer franchise instead, then move it to a different state.

I still think it could work, I'm not after the money if I was I wouldn't choice any league, and wages won't be that high that I wouldn't afford it. That's why I will never go in unless I know the true stats so I can be ready. Thank you for the info

Woking's owner was willing to let the club go for free I think, back in October or November. He also claimed bar takings on a matchday were 20k.

Yep, correct. Hopefully Medo buys us for a packet of Salt & Vinegar Hula Hoops and a Capri Sun.

Hmmm, imagine if you'd said "anyone talking in rupees will never succeed over here. I wouldn;t even pick up your phone call or open your email for those reasons alone. Go away, buy an Indian team then move it to a different state". Would that be racism? Aren't you saying here you wouldn't want him because he's American? I'm always gobsmacked how even the most PC of PC wankers seem to think their rules don't apply when the subject is from the States. I once heard a senior member of human resources say to a room full of people, "I won't go to (some place i can't remember), it's full of Americans, I hate them". When I reminded her the company had an equality policy, nobody backed me up. These are strange times we're living in.:eyes:

I'm interested to know how a "side job" has enabled you to save $60,000 by the age of 19. I'd be tempted to stick with that.
Furniture store full time 45 hrs + and I own a barber shop that should make me 20k+ a year since I just rent it to indivdual barbers for certain $ per 2 weeks
