The Admiral is out injured for 3 months.
Not hopeful for this one. Akinde is always poor when on a short turnaround and McLean is no spring chicken. Can easily see a couple of changes made for fresh legs to come in, perhaps Lisbie will come in

What's the admiral done?

I hope you Bee's are right but I see it being a tough game. We have a few to nurse ourselves ahead of Monday but with the run of form we are on I am quietly confident the play off party carries on.

Difficult one this, fingers crossed our walking wounded aren't that bad and we can sneak it.

Hoping for a hard fought point or a smash and grab win.

Really looking forward to this. Our last game at Cambridge was an absolute class day out. Think we should take around 600 after our recent run of form.

1-2 (McClean, Akinde pen)

He's played well for us. What did you lot do to make him play so badly for you?

Just because of our away record and that you seem to have improved as a side since that draw at the Hive makes a home win look likely. Still, it's going to be my first visit to the Abbey so I'll enjoy the day and see if we can spring a surprise.

The Admiral? Apart from being woefully exposed by any one who could amble faster than an octagenarian, he had a marvellous knack of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and making silly mistakes that led to goals.

Barry Corr and Williamson running at him would have been worth the entrance fee alone.

However, all those things can be put aside for the fact he always gave up once he was beaten, and would stroll back without a care in the world. The amount of clips of last season where he only appears at the end of a shot was remarkable. At least 5 of the goals here feature him standing on the spot doing naff all, having a cup of tea and a biscuit, or for the last one, being unable to clear something at his own feet.

Note his positioning and movement in the 2nd goal, and tell me that's exactly not what to do in defending 101?

With Dembele alongside him he didn't need to and when played as a pair they look solid. Sadly most of the time one or the other has been injured or suspended.
Nelson has been very good at dealing with aerial threats and keeping the ball on the deck when playing out from the back rather than the hoof up field we expect from Ngala.

Christ, "playing out from the back" and "Michael Nelson" aren't two phrases which go together from my memory! I thank him for his efforts in the first half of last season when he was the experienced short-term solution we required but post-Man U he was an embarrassment frankly. The Pompey 6-2 defeat was the peak of his shitness but there were plenty of other examples.

Tom Champion on the other hand is a total legend and any failings in ability are easily forgiven as he's such a wonderful chap. He'll get a great reception if he plays.

As for the game, we seem to have lost 1 or 2 to injury and it's harming our width a little so I'm apprehensive today - might be a bit of a battle through the middle. But we're coming off the back of a decent little run and I'd like to think we can continue that today.

I can't say how Cambridge play but for us Togwell sits deep, provides an outlet for the defence and fills in gaps when our full backs bomb forwards. It is noticeable in our team that Nelson looks to use Togwell as an outlet which benefits us by linking up the defence and midfield.
Haven't really rated Champion, he isn't better than Togwell in the holding role and doesn't offer much going forwards.
We have similar issues with injuries, losing our right winger Clarke is a big blow.

Surely Cambridge can't be this insipid in the 2nd half?

We never play well for 90 mins. Hopefully Akinde will dive again and get sent off?

Painful watching. That's all. And oh, if we somehow win this game, Barnet have only got themselves to blame.

Yeah, pity McLean's shot didn't go in, that would have lit the blue touch paper!

Akinde is killing Roberts which isn't surprising. Fully deserved lead.

and that is why I consider those U's who are dreaming about the play offs as grade A idiots.

Ps and it doesn't matter at all if we go on and win this one

Barnet pissed all over us as well, but were absolutely useless in front of goal and we somehow won.

Sounds like they still haven't improved their finishing.

This is literally so fucking typical of this team this season. Actually not the team, its Allen and his fucking tactics.

We don't beat teams, they beat themselves whenever we get points. This season is a shambles. How many more fucking times are we going to squander a lead? Got away with it against Crawley because their defender lost his head, and Newport shat all over us with 10 men. This is ridiculous and its Allen to blame.

I'm so pissed off but more because I let myself believe this lead might be different.

ALLEN OUT!

We were terrible today; managed to find a small amount of quality for 90 seconds and that was enough to win the game.
