Both teams went into the game losing their last Championship fixture, however they each registered their spot in the Capital one cup 3rd round draw in midweek. A crowd of around 17,500 packed into Craven Cottage to watch, two of last seasons relegated teams battle until the end.

Cardiff were in control early in the game, keeping the ball really well but not really threatening in front of goal. However Fulham started to take control, and looked the more likely to take the lead with £12 million pound signing Ross McCormack, who looked menacing going forward. Scott Parker had seen his shot from the edge of the box fly just wide of the left hand post.

Fulham finally made their attacking dominance pay off, when Ross McCormack whipped in a dangerous cross which was glanced in at the far post by Tim Hoogland.

Fulham started dominating after their goal, and almost went two goals ahead when Ross McCormack hit the post from his own corner, Fulham were now growing in confidence as half time approached.

However they couldn't grab another goal to seal the game, and Cardiff made them pay, when Mats Daehli threaded a pass through to Kenwyne Jones, who leveled the score to 1-1.

There were no real chances after the equalizing goal, Sean Morrison missed a back post header and right at the death, Thomas Eisfield missed an open chance that surely would have won them the game.

So both teams took a point each, meaning Fulham finally got their points tally up and running. Cardiff however have now picked up 8 points in their last five games, leaving them 9th place in the league table. Cardiff will now face Norwich City at home to try and maintain their unbeaten home start. Fulham on the other hand, will travel to Reading, hoping to pick up their first win of the season.
