Cardiff City have backed their supporters' decision to boycott this Saturday's match at Leeds United.

Bluebirds fans are unhappy at Leeds offering 500 away tickets for the Championship game at Elland Road.

After consulting with supporter and travel groups, Cardiff have now opted to return all 500 tickets.

"We have no option but to return the low number of unrestricted tickets on offer out of respect for our supporters," said Cardiff CEO Ken Choo.

Speaking to the club website, Choo added: "It's extremely disappointing to have reached this conclusion.

"Our preference was for Cardiff City fans to be granted the same respect and freedom of travel as provided to over 2,000 Leeds supporters for the corresponding fixture this season. We are frustrated that this could not be permitted."

Cardiff say that a request was put to Leeds to screen the match live at Cardiff City Stadium, but this was turned down.

Elland Road has a capacity of almost 38,000, although Leeds average about 24,000 for home games in the Championship this season.

Cardiff are currently 13th in the table with Leeds level on points in 14th.

Why were they only offered 500 tickets?

They asked for something like 2,000 unrestricted tickets from what I've seen, but that got rejected so they only got 500, which they then sent back.

Can I ask a question?

Is this the same Cardiff City who respected their supporters so much they changed their club colours of a hundred years to a different colour because the new colour was considered 'lucky' (along with....ahem...dragons) to the club's historically legendary legions of passionate Cardiff supporters in suburban Kuala Lumpur? Then once all the kids had bought the new shirts, changed it back when someone realised that it takes more than lucky fucking red dragons to stay in the PL?

Am I missing something in this touching story of lower divisions toys-out-of-pram-throwing mediocrity?

Oh, and is this the same Cardiff City that banned us for several seasons and then only allowed a handful of supporters if they came on official coaches from Wolverhampton, thus effectively banning those of us who don't live there?

It is?

Seems a strange decision to boycott game just because of only been given 500 tickets, just retaliate back next season giving them same amount or less !

Have Wolves fans ever been banned from Cardiff City?

I know Cardiff fans were banned entirely from attending one match at Molineux.

The reputation of Cardiff has certainly changed. It seems like yesterday (it was 2008) that a coach load of Cardiff fans disembarked on the roads outside the Madejski and started a brawl in the middle of a roundabout with some Reading who were giving it the big'un. When I say a brawl, it must have been 100 people kicking the shit out of each other in the middle of the road. The days of getting all sorts thrown at you at Ninian Park have gone, which, of course, is for the better. Why do they have still have restrictions?

I went to Ninian Park once. I would go again if it was still there.

I went to the Madejski once. I would never go again.

When you're getting bottles of piss and coins thrown at you, then it's not missed. That being said, our 5-2 win there in 2006 was one of the few times where Reading were playing up and Cardiff were flinching, so I can't take the high ground on that. But, yeah, I get your point, Ninian Park was miles better than the Madejski will ever be.
