16th placed Cardiff City will face inform Sheffield Wednesday in a crucial match for both teams, but for completely different reasons. The Bluebirds will be hoping to turn their form around, having not picked up a win in their last 5 matches including the Capital one cup. However the Owls, have won 4 of their last 5 games in the Championship, but will be hoping to get back to their winning ways, after a 7-0 thrashing from Manchester City in midweek. The last meeting between the 2 sides was in March last year, where the Bluebirds picked up a 2-0 victory that helped them lift the Championship trophy. Cardiff have also won their last 4 home meetings between the sides, but this match seems the most likely to trouble the Bluebirds.
Cardiff will only be without Ben Turner with a long term ankle injury, but may also be without Fabio after a leg muscle problem sustained in the Norwich game. However they may give a debut to loanee Ravel Morrison who joined in midweek from West Ham, the only hurdle between him and the starting XI is his fitness, as he is yet to start a match this season so it is more likely to see him appear from the subs bench. And the supposed new manager of the Bluebirds Russel Slade will be in the directors box tomorrow, hoping to see his potential new team pick up a victory. As for Wednesday, they will only be without defender Kamil Zayatte who received a straight red against Manchester City. But ex-Bluebird Glenn Loovens will be available for selection, along with Kieren Westwood, Jose Semedo and Atdhe Nuhiu.
After the departure of Ole Gunnar Solkjaer, the Bluebirds team is a lot easier to predict, my predicted XI is-
01- Marshall
02- Brayford
05- Ecule Manga
12- John
16- Connolly
07- Whittingham
11- Noone
19- Pilkington
20- Daehli
21- Ralls
09- Jones
And my predicted Sheffield Wednesday line up is-
01- Westwood
02- Buxton
03- Mattock
05- Loovens
15- Lees
11- Drenthe
14- Coke
16- McCabe
19- Maghoma
07- May
09- Nuhiu
My score prediction for the match is Cardiff 2-1 Wednesday, although City have been in poor form, I feel they will want to perform in the presence of their soon to be new manager. I would not be surprised to see us concede though, as we've only kept 1 clean sheet this season. Things are going to be interesting!
