Just recently announced in the local media, the club have placed the ongoing investment and restructuring plan on hold due to the emergence of a mystery investor. They say they have to consider this new approach and see which option is in the best interests of the club, however the new potential investor has not been named and unlike the group of investors led by Andrew 'Laffy' Lapping, will not be making a cash injection to the club, or restructuring the club. But will instead involve the investor signing a 'three to five year deal'

Lapping's investment plan had been gathering pace over the last few months, with more investors getting on board with it, it had the support of the vast majority of fans and also the current board of directors and the trust. As well a £1.6m cash injection, it was to involve a restructuring of the club which many saw as long overdue, with the current traditional custodians of the club remaining owners alongside the new investors and overseeing the club, but the running of the club being carried out by newly appointed salaried managing and commercial directors. Lapping had been involved in interviewing said directors and just yesterday announced than an offer had been made to their preferred candidate. The optimism around the club over the summer has been pretty high. He was only told of the new option minutes before the media, and presumably the offer we made to the potential new MD is now off the table.

Not sure what to say... except that we're a fucking joke of a club... Leyton Orient, we might be about to give you a run for your money.

Nixon is a fucking c***. He'll never set foot in Brunton Park again is he knows what's good for him.

If it's another curry waiter I'm going to punch Nixon right in his massive square chops.

Convenient isn't it how this all happened days before Nixon was due to step down as managing director. Jenkins is the one who released it to the media, but don't they always wheel him out to deliver their bad news? Jenkins is probably genuine in believing that this latest development is a real opportunity and deserves consideration, but I won't be hugely surprised if it turns out that whoever it is has some kind of connection with Nixon... or Pattinson.

I doubt this new investor even exists and even if he/she/they is the real deal, it sounds like it's just a short term investment with the same morons steering the ship/spunking the money away with bad decisions.

Either way it's bad. Lapping's plans were to put the club into a self sustaining position, to restructure the current shambles.

Nixon must be laughing his cock off. A new MD has gone through the interview process for a 90k salary position, has probably given notice to his previous job, put plans in place to move here etc. lapping has spent 9 months with lawyers, meeting with trusts etc putting everything in place. Then just like that Nixon has shafted everyone just to keep his own dick in the pie. Bet he feels really powerful.

What a c*** he is! What an absolute prize c***.

Well yeah, I'm not sure in what world investors in a company sign a 'three to five year deal'... is it three or five, or does the vagueness suggest there is some provision whereby they can wash their hands of the club should it go tits up? Anyone investing in a football club should be all in, cash injection, part-owner, invested in the decisions and the future of the club, not some temporary deal like a venture capitalist, as if John Nixon just went on dragon's den.

Actually my personal view now is that I bet this has something to do with BlueYonder (pie in the sky new stadium plan that isn't even remotely close to ever happening but which Nixon wanks over each and ever night for those from outside the club). Laffy said he would want to look again at the plans in place for it and hinted at a perhaps slightly sentimental preference for remaining at Brunton Park. If real then I'm sure it is someone connected to BlueYonder who was worried that it was going to be quietly shelved and so has decided to stick their oar in and make Nixon literally cum all over the boardroom table.

I was thinking of suggesting you're only banned for negativity about the football side of things.
Okay, but I fear that if these parasites stay in charge, it will be more of the same on the pitch unfortunately.

Absolutely ridiculous, feel sorry for Lapping. Nixon always says he's doing it to benefit the club... Is he fuck.

Hope Lapping doesn't back off, he genuinely wanted to help the club unlike them useless c***.

I don't think lapping will back off, but some of his investors might... And I can see the inbound managing director having second thoughts over whether they want the job after all.

Meanwhile, seems the speed brakes got deployed in the nick of time! Otherwise could have been watching you play at Eastleigh come August.

Not now we have Jason Kennedy... we'll piss this league regardless of who's in charge :ds:
He isn't signing the contract til August 1st.

If I was him I'd be looking elsewhere between now and then.

Ah isn't that always the Carlisle way, where news that something has happened actually means; there's been a verbal agreement that it's happened; we've signed a lockout agreement; we had a gentleman's agreement well do something in twelve month's time after we've changed our minds or the communications officer walked in on a handshake.

Where's Peter Risdale these days?

He's at Preston. He was originally Chairman until he was disqualified as a director until 2020 along with his wife after it was found he had £350K diverted from his various clubs resting in his personal bank account. Also non-payment of tax, non-declaration of transactions to liquidators etc. He now calls himself "Chairman of Football" and in no way acts as a director of the club or with significant influence over it, no sirree. Not that he isn't a fit and proper person, or anything.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Well I do not at all think this would be for 'personal gain' in this instance because one thing our current owners genuinely are of course are fans.....all have followed Carlisle for 30-40-70 odd years and been involved for 20-40 years and are local businessmen..............those type of people put the club ahead of personal gain, it isn't a knighton where personal aspects are first and club are second.

that being said the one downfall of this current lot isn't their personal hope, its that in my 25 odd years following whenever these lot have had decisions to make they make god-awful decisions......the only time we made the correct choices were when Knighton and Courtney ran the show (well Courtney in the end with Simpson then giving it to Story)

otherwise if you gave this current lot deadly maze with 49 paths of doom and 1 path to safety......they'd take all 49 paths of death before picking the safety route. Could this be an investor jumping at the chance now they have seen club is debt free, has little outside influence, owns its own ground etc, etc............very attractive and can see someone being interested yes.........but could this lot decide properly if a said new person or Lapping was the correct choice.................could they hell, this lot would probably give Knighton another go and claim he'd know what he's doing 2nd time around.

the only doubt I have in respect of it maybe being a made up person is the usual 'mysterious investor' b*llocks, that was the old knighton trick to get more money, oh look someone wants club so ah here comes our 'mysterious third party' out of the blue suddenly wanting the club for no reason.

This is a statement Lapping made yesterday evening on the forum.
I think after today's events that I should set out the position as I saw it this morning so there is no confusion or conspiracy theory.

-the legal and financial DD is well advanced though the Club's lawyers had not fully engaged. We were in essence doing all of the work for them to simply comment on

-We interviewed 6 people for the commercial role with the current directors. The field was narrowed down to two.

-We interviewed 5 people for the MD role. This was narrowed down to one who attended my house yesterday to interview the remaining two commercial candidates with the intention of formally announcing both appointments this week.

-the new investment is lined up and ready to go-all local money save for one named investor based in London.

-the prospectus is in draft and awaiting the insertion of the business plan and financial/legal DD

In summary,we aimed to complete the transaction by the end of June-the Club's year end.All agreed with the present Board.

Things went quiet over the weekend, notably yesterday which raised suspicions that all was not in order.

I received a call from JN at 5.06pm tonight and he read out the statement issued by the Club.

That is the chain of events.

I have invested an enormous amount of energy in attempting to help my Club and I hope that common sense prevails and that whatever happens, the Club is secured for the long term.

Thank you for all your support-it is much appreciated.

Regards

Andrew

Then he added

All I know is essentially what I have told you save that it is supposedly 'overseas' money. It might be an amazing offer but I just don't know. The Club desperately needs a new outlook and new leadership.

As mentioned previously,I don't like losing but this was never about me or the money.

I could say a lot more about the whole process to date but that's for another day.I need to reflect overnight and regroup.

Cheers

Andrew

Personally I think that while Nixon isn't in it for personal gain in the sense of money or power... he is bothered about his own legacy, and perhaps worried about being quietly shuffled upstairs.

But if he's not careful he'll be shuffled somewhere else if he continues being a cancer to the football club.

He also went on to say this
There was no exclusivity in the deal-because I thought we were working together.Im in for some serious legal and financial costs of course but I can afford it-despite the ill informed suggestions of the club's handyman-sorry Director of Football.

I hope it isn't a foreign investor.

I am in a minority, but I frankly do not want some money man coming in, I'd not want to be a Bournemouth or Brentford, I detest a prospect of having the club given to some outsider turning it into a farce for the sake of joining that commercial craphole of a top flight, I detest the premiership with a passion so I'd rather never see us in it ever.

give me a steady L2/L1 club anyday, with an odd risk of non-league and an odd chance of Championship glory.......suits me fine.

I think that's why everyone was so behind Lapping and his proposals. He wasn't going to chuck money at it, the money he would have invested would be used to get the club into a better position to restructure it and make the club self sustainable. I think any sensible Cufc fan would want this.

These clowns in charge really don't know their arse from their elbow. Now they've fucked Lapping off, if they don't get this new investment and we're back to square one, the fans are going to become even more disillusioned and attendances will drop further. Do the actually realise what a risk they are taking? The fucking useless c***.

If the new interest is genuine, why couldn't they go ahead with the lapping deal and then let the new investors approach lapping and then let them decide if the deal is better.

I now do think Nixon is purely in it for himself and doesn't give two fucks about the mess leaves at the club. The guy is cancerous and he needs removed ASAP.
