Now that we've got no more distractions like floods, ground shares and FA Cup games, we can finally get on with our league season again! Starting with Accrington on Saturday.

We're in 13th and 5 points off the play offs with 4 games in hand on a few of the teams above us, if we had played those games and won them then we'd be sitting fairly comfortably in 3rd place. So there is plenty of reason for us to still aim for the playoffs and beyond instead of being losers thinking that our season is over and that it's all doom and gloom again!

As for the match, it will be interesting to finally see the new and improved Accrington Stanley that I've heard so much about.

If the team puts in a decent performance, I'd fancy us to get the 3 points. Trouble is, they've been on a downward spiral since the turn of the year, and the last time we played reasonably well was the Notts County match before Christmas.

Injuries are beginning to crop up now too, Grainger and Hery are likely to miss this one, though at least Joyce will be back from his suspension. So that means we've got a choice of Brough or Gillesphey at left-midfield. Then we've got a handful of forwards who're out of form, and an entire team playing with little energy throughout.

This'll be a tough game, one we really need to win in order to keep any hopes of promotion alive in my opinion.

we will get nothing.

We went into January knowing we HAD to strengthen the wide positions, especially as we've hit a blip in form and poor performances.

We 'supposedly' had money, have raked it in this last month.

we signed b*gger all.

and unfortunately it means we still have no width, an inbalanced side, our creative players are out of form and have zero alternative and will thesefore resort to aimless whacks as our only outlet.

I hope we win.

I just had it confirmed I am moving to Manchester on 5th march and won't really be able to make Carlisle games too much, looking like my local side may be Oldham, hmmm

so I want a flurry of good wins to finish off....................or promotion to L1 with Oldham, Wigan, Bolton, Bury and Rochdale

We are playing better and better as the season progresses, so feeling pretty confident. A draw wouldn't be a disaster for us though.

You should be confident. On current form you could easily win, hopefully we pick ourselves up from the Everton game quickly enough.

Accrington are expected to win so we are the underdogs for this one I'm afraid and if we are somehow able to hold Accrington Stanley to a draw then it would be a heroic achievement for our team.

I don't think we'll do it though due to Accrington's superiority as a football club, so I think we will lose 2-0 with them hitting us on the break in the last minute, but you know even if we get thrashed I'm just grateful that we are playing against a club like them and I'm sure it will be a pleasure to watch such a good footballing team.

I must say that I'm really looking forward to seeing their quality players like Windass and Crooks!

its a big game for us really, is a lot of grumbles this week as our fans go back to attacking the board over our zero use of massive cup money to improve squad, board and Curle being attacked really.

We lose this game and suddenly you could be looking at a possible 9 point gap tot he play-offs and with poor form and deteriorating confidence I think it could be a hard slog to get back involved.

we win this game and suddenly we are back in confidence, only 2 points off the play-offs and with 3-4 games in hand and everything again looks rosy.

I think we'll lose, this is a tough game even under normal circumstances but we've been pretty poor recently and especially after being run ragged against Everton I think this could be difficult for us. As you say, this game sort of dictates whether the rest of our season will be a play-off fight or a mid table one.

I'm less confident of my 2-0 win prediction than I was yesterday.

Curle today suggests Hery and Joyce (Grainger too) will miss this game. Kennedy and Comley will be the only fit centre mids available, I assume.

With the form we're in recently, and the players we've got available, I wouldn't be surprised if we get thrashed.

League table all of a sudden looking very nice again after that. If we can win our next two games then play-offs will look very realistic again.

Great performance, it could've been a few more than 2-0. Dominant throughout against an underwhelming Accrington side, though our whole team were terrific.

Ellis was worthy of MOTM, he won everything in defence, but Hope, Comley and Wyke were also fantastic. McQueen nearly scored an unbelievable goal; nutmugged 2, cross over to the back post actually hits the post and rebounds out.

Karma for Coleman, that. It makes the victory even better.

It was easier than I thought it would be to be honest. Never once did I feel Accrington would get something out of it.

I predicted 2-0 but really I'm disappointed we didn't go on to get 3 or 4.

Presumably an off day for Accrington and missing Windass.

They'll be missing him for the reverse fixture as well I think, if we can beat Newport I think we've every chance of going to Accrington and winning.

Thought it was a fairly mediocre game myself, but as said above, the result was never in doubt.

Comley looks a decent replacement for Dicker, shame it isn't permenant...

Whilst I like visiting Carlisle (some great pubs in the city centre) we never seem to play well there - I thought we were very mediocre today. Maybe we were a bit over-confident after beating Bristol Rovers last week.
Looked like the home fans were having some fun with Coleman during the game!
Not long til the reverse fixture - lets hope we put on a better showing...

Yeah Coleman was getting quite the ribbing from the fans behind the Accrington bench... it's not only the recent comments though he's just one of those outspoken managers, so I don't know if he gets the same everywhere he goes but he certainly always gets some stick when he's at Brunton Park.

That's a great win for us against a team who came up here thinking they'd roll us over and it just makes the win even more satisfying after they underestimated us!

late with this, moving to Manchester so not a lot of time at present.

Think we maybe just beat Accy at their own game and in the end we shocked them early in the game and they never recovered mentally throughout. I am thinking Accy came to Brunton Park expecting to clip afew heels, get in our faces, try and bully the game abit and found out within first 10 minutes we'd smashed them with afew tackles, got right in their faces and on whole stood up to their challenges, which in turn led to us getting a lot of free-kicks from a 'lucky for us' whistle happy ref.

I don't think they expected us to just get stuck in and it rattled them and they never recovered and well put in worst display from an away side this season. Easy win in the end, but a pretty awful game, neither side looked good, but we took our chances well and never once really looked like conceding a goal.

Coleman must've known he was in for a tough reception he kept himself well hidden most of the game, the majority of the arguments were with his assistant who was extremely gobby in the dug-out at the 4th official and quite willing to have afew choice words between him and our paddock..........and good, I like that, I hate this OTT era when fans and management cannot get at each other.....made a better atmos.

expect both coleman and assistant will be desperate to beat us next week so should be a very tasty game.

Interesting, I work with a guy called Dave who's a Carlisle fan and in the process of moving to Manchester.
