Who gets control of the Lakes during this messy divorce, then

The borders have wandered a bit over the years but, essentially, money departs Cumberland, leaving them with some of the Herdwicks and the Ospreys, along with the coal mines, the Jam Eaters and the Scottish border to defend..

High Furness includes Coniston, Grasmere and Rydal. It's border is the West bank of Windermere. Lake Windermere, Ullswater, Haweswater and Kendal are all in Westmorland.

I'm simply trying to comprehend how you got to the conclusion that a Barrow win is the only logical outcome?

If that makes me a freak then so be it.

It's a football message board, views are meant to be discussed and argued, with evidence provided to back up.

I look forward to taking a trip to my local branch of HG Bookmakers in the near future. There's sure to be plenty of value to be found.
It’s not a conclusion, it’s a prediction, for the thousandth time.

I’ve seen/heard people predicting us to win 8-0 tonight. Do I start a big inquest into such an unlikely prediction?. Even Carver’s 4-0. We haven’t beaten anyone 4-0 in years, yet there’s no big drama surrounding that.

For what it’s worth, barrow’s away results over the past few games look decent. Winning at Mansfield, drawing at Orient and Salford. They look like they’ve found their groove away from home. But again, ITS ONLY A PREDICTION.

Carlisle folk are generally grateful we were "adopted" into Cumbria. Now the county has a major population centre than is renowned for producing world class feats of maritime engineering, as opposed to simply making biscuits.
You say that but when the floods shut the factory down and there was a shortage of custard creams and ginger nuts the country went fucking mental. Bet you had to shut down your fancy shipyards with nothing for the staff to dunk in their tea.

I've not seen any 8 nil predictions and if they've been made then that's nonsense.

The difference is Carver's predictions come from over confident exuberance and should be ignored as such. Whereas you give reasons and obviously put some thought into it. Despite the facts saying otherwise your predictions fall on the negative side.

Nothing against that. I disagree and will say so but that doesn't mean that I don't respect your opinion. I'm intrigued by your thought process and sometimes it makes me think I'm missing something about our team.

I bet on a lot of football. Facts and figures are the basis of that because it's impossible for me to watch every team live that I bet on. Maybe that blinds me to other details slightly when looking at us.

However I'm able to say that there's been enough times this season where we've been below the expected level during games. More often than not we've still come out with a result which I pin massive credit on.

That piglet guy on the Carlisle message board comes in for severe criticism but to me a lot of what he says is bang on the money and your similar in your beliefs about our team. He's one of the few worth listening to on there. Opposing view points are always worth listening to.

You're right about Barrow's very recent away form and that's what swings us from something like a 5/6 shot up to 10/11. Saying that they played Orient when they've hit a bad patch, and Mansfield & Salford aren't the most consistent. Salford especially have an average home record.

That's League Two football for you and it's best not to get too carried away when betting on it.

I'm not having Kendal mint cake and Grasmere gingerbread going down as Carlisle exports you absolute chancers.

I think we're roughly where we should be in the table. I reckon we've slightly underachieved at home (goal scoring problems early in season) and slightly overachieved away from home (teams possibly playing too open against us).

I'm a great believer in overall goal difference telling the truest story. Ours speaks strongly, with Barrow's something more equal. Going off goal difference there looks to be a few teams out of place.

It all points to an exciting few months coming up. We're right there for once. It can easily go one way or the other but that's what makes football brilliant. The unknown. I'd make an educated guess that we won't be far off our current position.

I was born in Cumbria.

However I do own a Westmorland flag which is raised at appropriate moments in honour of my family roots.

Before there was Cumberland, Westmorland, Furness and the appendix of Yorkshire that is Sedbergh there was the kingdom of Cumbria so bow down to our authority.
Well if you're taking us back to the days of Old King Cole (Coel Hen), then North Reghed (Cumbria) was a fleeting kingdom with insecure boundaries that barely lasted 100 years from when Reghed (North Britain) was split up around 535 to when the Geordies took over around 638.

The limited authority was frittered away fighting Scots, Angles and Yorkies for ownership of a few bogs and hill forts. At no stage did they have control of the Gingerbread plantations or the Mint Cake quarries.

Mellish goal in the 45th min after George Ray left a through ball.
From I-player replays it looks like Mellish was about half a yard offside* - but goal given.

*just confirmed by the Carlisle commentator

Our defence thinking Jon Mellish was the second coming of Moses there.

Offside or not, you've got to make sure. Defend it first and think about the decision later.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Big gamble made by Simpson to change his entire forward line but it’s worked and now we have two decent forward lines to rotate or mix up as season goes on…..that is a big advantage to some of the sides in the mix.

Yous lot should listen to Carver more often. We've been schooled by two of the top three/four in the space of a couple of days, shows why are nothing but mid table dynamos.

Just back from the game. What a win. Have lost my voice just about. The second half was the best we’ve played all season, absolutely blew them away. I was a little concerned in the first half as it was going how I expected it with barrow on top and the better team. First goal however changed everything and from then on it was all us, perfect time to score really just before the break. The contribution from Owen Moxon in the 2nd and 4th goals were exceptional. Signing of the season, so pleased we haven’t flogged him this window. Joe Garner showed he’s still got it as well. Excellent night, i can’t believe where we are in the league. Just waiting for someone to wake me up.

Wild said he was 4 yards offside. I’ll be interested to see it again.

Looks offside but not the 4 yards Wild claimed.

Although he did spend the entire match crying about Joe Garner getting free kicks so maybe the tears impaired his view.

It was obviously offside but still think we could've done better defensively in the following seconds anyhow. But, that was to make it 1-0 and it was obvious that we didn't have the bottle second half, that incident wasn't the cause for the final scoreline.

It’s a prediction you moronic fuckwit. If I could predict correct football results I’d be a millionaire.

Just enjoy the win and stop antagonising people unless you want to be slapped around again.

It says a lot that you’re more pleased with being able to say i told you so and antagonising rather than enjoying a great win.

The 5-1 win means he'll only predict a 1-0 loss next time

I am enjoying the win thank you very much and also the usual turn out of your dreadful predictions.

When loads of people are teasing you, they're probably not wrong HAHA
