Must win game again. Very winnable, as Morecambe have little to play for, and we never seem to lose against them competitively. We beat them on Boxing Day, and they didn't really look like scoring.

Fancy us to win, by 2 or 3 goals. Should learn to never get overly optimistic with Carlisle, but we simply have to get the 3 points.

Any Morecambe fans on here?

There were a few on the old forum, but don't think I've seen many here, there's someone called Christie's Child around I think. They were one of those groups of fans who either went elsewhere, or never heard the news about this forum.

It doesn't really matter so much which games we win (Hartlepool and possibly Oxford aside) but we certainly need wins and we need to get them earlier rather than later so this is a great opportunity given our record against Morecambe.

Fingers crossed.

Morecambe are shite at home but decent on the road at the moment. Their last away game was a 3-2 win at Luton.

We've been poor at home recently, the pressure is off them so they can play with a bit of freedom. We never back up a good away win with a home win.

So taking all of the above into account, unfortunately I can't see anything other than a Morecambe win, they'll completely out football us. Plus they are well overdue a win against us.

United 1-2 Morecambe

Got a decent feeling about this one, 3-1. Team selection will be difficult for Curle; does he play tinkerman again and put the more regular starters back into the team in place of players like Asamoah and Brough or does he try and keep a consistent team from Tuesday. I'd like to see Rigg started again and obviously Troy, nice to have some positive competition for places again though. Wyke maybe pushing for a start again, I think someone on our forum said he was shattered last match and that dropping him wasn't wholly tactical by Curle so he'll probably be straight back in as well.

I think troy should start going off the papers. He seems to be finishing the season in good fitness, as he did for Swindon last season, but given what we know about his knees, if he feels a little off in the morning he won't be risked. But this is a Saturday game so provided he feels good I imagine he'll start alongside this new player we've signed called Sean O'Hanlon.

So true, I remember slating him on here not so long ago, and he's turned into one of our most consistent players. Fair play to him, pushed his way back into the team when it looked like his time with us was up.

A few of the players who were transfer listed did pick up their performances after that. Sweeney improved a lot and it looks like Paynter might be in the process of responding positively too.

Well it's a point more than I thought we'd get, but we've really missed a huge opportunity to get a valuable 3 points.

Our failure to win our home games is a big concern.

Thought we did enough to win, but disappointed with just a point. Looked a soft penalty, but I'd have to see it again. Edging closer to safety though.

Looked very soft, the commentators seemed to think so too. Grainger laid a hand on Amond, which you'll hear over and over again you shouldn't do as a defender. But he didn't look to have pushed him, Amond certainly knew what you do when you feel a hand on your back in the penalty area.

It was made more laughable when Charlie Wyke was brought down by their goalie, but Wyke didn't claim for a penalty, he just got straight back up, only for the referee to stop the game and book him for diving... what's that all about?

I thought Wyke dived, he's over run the ball, it was going out of play so he went down. That's how I saw it anyway.

Was ridiculous that, goal scoring chance when he got back up too, very poor decision.

Also for their penalty, it seemed the referee didn't have a clue, and looked as if he was gonna give a free kick for a dive.

Did he not have the ball when he got back to his feet though?

Maybe my memory is sketchy, but I remember thinking it's a dive before the ref had made the decision.

I was too far away to make a judgement on what it looked like, but the commentators had it that he didn't claim for a penalty so I was a bit surprised he was booked.

Shite, again...

Two points dropped, Morecambe somehow managed to look worse than us. Wish he'd play some fucking wingers.

Wow, I'm the most negative cufc fan of them all but I didn't think we were shite yesterday.

I'm just concerned that even when we play reasonably well, we still fail to win at home. This is why we're 100% nailed on certainties for relegation imo.

Though there was alot of positives to come out of that game myself.......abit more hope having seen the performance and i think it was a game we'd won comfortably but for the position we're in and the nerves and indecision that which comes with being in a relegation dogfight.

but our play was so much better from the Exeter game, it had passion, fight, energy, movement, desire........things you want when frankly in a scrap and battling for safety, the team worked very hard, the midfield was probably the best i've seen for quite a while, 4 midfielders who ran about tried to make space and wanted to win the ball and have the ball.

up until the goal it was for me all us, but we were just unable to finish it off about the box, whether that was abit of naivity from 2 young forwards or that we need another couple of games with the same team to gel.....I am unsure.

Our problem for me was when the goal came we didn't know which direction to go in from that winning position and the goal just came too early in the second half for us........we didn't know whether to sit back on that lead or to go for the killer 2nd, so one minute we had all 11 players about our box and the next minute we had all players forward and 1 defender left against 1 forward.

Morecambe to their credit just went for it all game, one of them luxuries of being midtable is a lack of worry on getting beat and they just had a go so it made for an enjoyable game, we were under pressure at times but comfortable and should have extended the lead before the penalty. I'm not that fussed on whether it was or wasnt a pen, for me it was a stupid thing to do by the defender and he should not be giving them that option, that chance to get the pen, player was moving away from goal just don't get suckered into it.

after that i was sure we'd lose, and morecambe nearly capitalised with their morale up but the bar saved us and we rallied again, we of course could have had a pen and i think it was a pen, but to be honest we should moreso complain at the terrible pass than the penalty, the run by the forward was superb but the pass was so poor that he was left with little option than to knock it and fall over.....which the ref didn't accept as contact, a better ball would have seen him clear on goal.

its a point though and a performance of hope

Does it not worry you that even when we play well, at home, to an average midtable team with little to play for, we still fail to win?

I'm looking at our home fixtures and I can't see where a win is going to come from to be honest.

Your right but i sort've take the view that all i can ask now is that we give it a good go and if we then end up not good enough so-be-it damage clearly was done earlier in season.

but as long as for rest of season team shows that same battle, fight and effort you can at least say we went down fighting and didnt have that don't give a sh*t attitude which has been about the team for the last 3-4 years.

plus at least if we show that same desire and fight in coming games we've more chance than if we had that half hearted attitude previously.

Next week is massive, Oxford has to be seen as a great chance to win they are in awful form.

Sometimes you don't win, no matter how well you play. At least if you play well you look like you might have won on another day, it was a penalty in the end that cost us the two points. If you play well you're sometimes unlucky, and sometimes you play poorly and get lucky; that's just something that happens sometimes, but on other times you don't need luck, just need to rely on not needing luck for the rest of the season.

If O'Hanlon is fit again for Oxford then the main issue we had yesterday could easily be remedied by dropping Grainger. Annoyingly this seems to be the consensus among our fans, yet he continues to start every game - and as captain as well, which is really insult to injury when Troy deserves it so much more. We're very lucky that Troy plays for us, and i've very little doubt that if he didn't have Ledley King's knees he'd be in the Championship. On his day I doubt there's many better defenders in League 1. I can't rate him highly enough and i'm not sure where we'd be without him this season.

I'm just hoping you fail to win your last home game.

No offence like.....:2thumb:
