Kennedy, O'Sullivan, Etuhu and Nabi all out through injury, so looking thin in midfield as well as defence now.

Shocking. Hope those affected found alternative transport but not everyone will have.

Poor poor form.

Mind you, not having 100+ of the Tap and Barrel's finest might make it a bit easier for their local plod!

Apparently, the coach firm have no knowledge of the booking

For fucks sake like.

Is this going to be our season then? A stubborn manager with his brains in his fucking arse playing Hope upfront on his own and leaving a striker hes paid money for on the bench and of course gifting the opposition silly goals AGAIN FOR THE UMPTEENTH SEASON IN A ROW.

Poor start, this quality over quantity thing Curle wants has come back and bit him on his arse quicker than expected.

SHITE.

Thought you were very poor, tbh.

Looked like we didn't need to get out of first gear. Can't really remember you having any clear cut chances despite some poor clearances from us.

We are FUCKED. We are utterly FUCKED if that's the marker we're laying down for the season ahead.

I was a bit positive after the Blackburn win, but today was well and truly a reality check.

The worries I had all summer came home to roost today. Absolutely no threat at all up front and woeful at the back. We'll concede goals again like last season, but we've lost the goal threats from our team that often made up for our defensive frailties in previous years. No threat up top and an open gate at the back is a recipe for an absolute stink bomb of a football team.

A long hard season is ahead for us I think. We're definitely looking like a squad that will be battling at the wrong end of the table. Terrible performance, terrible but same old defensive fuck ups. So depressing.

It's hard to tell whether Swindon are good or not. They certainly weren't good today but maybe that's us dragging them down to our level of turdness. They took a good set piece for their first and then took an absolute gift wrapped present for the second but I feel a good team would have really put us to the sword today.

YES WE WERE CRAP.

We did hit the post though, but first home game of the season and our numbfuck manager goes for a defensive set up.

You looked alright, quite solid and efficient and most importantly did not defend like a fucking pub team.

Yeah, your defending leaves a lot to be desired. And believe me, after 2 years of watching our keystone cops defending, I know what it looks like.

We appeared to be OK-ish, with very little inspiration. Competent is the word.

time for everyone to lump on Carlisle to finish bottom then, before the bookies realise their error in even offering odds on this absolute certainty. They'll probably have paid out on it by November.

Not overly fussed if we didn't play great. Still looking to add 3 or 4 and expect us to improve.

Pleasing to get a win. Decent start to the season!

Don't think we'll go down but I think we'll be down scrapping in the bottom third of the league for most of the season.

I am certain we had a stonewall penalty turned away in the second half. Swindon's number 25 went down under the lightest brush from Hallam Hope and then dragged Hope down with him. Unbelievably the ref gave Swindon a free kick, and outside the area too, even though the foul was a couple of yards inside the area.

Offside.

Absolutely shite. One up front at home, and trying to play it long when he didn't win a single header. Don't think there was much in it, but defensive mistakes like that will always cost you.

Bonham made a some good saves but had a few fuck ups too.

Great start.

He ballsed that one up before a ball was even kicked.

Curle does need to wake up, if he doesn't then he can hand his notice in and fuck off.

He has Hope upfront on his fucking own having balls hoofed up to him, disgraceful.

Come on, guys. It's the first game of the season. Have the decency to afford him 10 games.

It was like this for pretty much the whole of the second half of last season, he is now just a shadow of the manager he was when he first came to our club.

carver's right, he's fallen into the trap so many managers fall into of being super stubborn about following their plan even when it isn't working. However he's also the best manager we've had in the last decade and the best we're likely to get again.

I don't think we can blame Curle too much for our regression since the turn of the year.

Our best striker was sold and not replaced, our second best striker has gone to Cambridge United and not replaced. We relied on goals to gloss over our poor defence, once that's gone we were always going to struggle.

It's classic Carlisle United under these owners...

07/08 finish in the League 1 playoffs.
Following season under these owners we fail to build on our decent season, we sell players, fail to replace them adequately, weaken the squad and end up in a relegation scrap.

Then we have to start building a new team again over the next few years.

.....

11/12 finish a point outside the league 1 playoffs.
Following season under these owners we fail to build on our decent season, we sell players, fail to replace them adequately, weaken the squad and end up in a relegation scrap.

Then we have to start building a new team again over the next few years.

.....

16/17 finish in the league 2 playoffs.
Following season....... well time will tell.

I hear that the new catering at the match yesterday was utterly shambolic too.

I can see there being hostile protests towards our owners very soon if this joke continues on and off the pitch.

The calamitous defence thing goes back to before Curle too. It seems like no matter who's playing for us and who's managing us, we will always gift at least one goalscoring opportunity to our opponents each and every game. Not sure how we can blame the owners for problems in one specific part of the pitch but they're the constant throughout all this.

I can't remember the last time we had anything close to a competent defence, probably back when Kev Gray was bossing things.

Shocker from Parkes for the first goal, though he was solid for the most part. Jones had his worst game for us, and was at fault for the second.

I don't know how Curle didn't see that playing Hope as a lone striker was not working, start Bennett if you're going to play it long every single time.

Tough game at Cambridge next, be surprised if we win that one.
