Both League 2 teams so may as well make a match thread for this. Biggest news of the week for us has to be this: https://twitter.com/Ibehre/status/684473275464966144, should mean Ibehre is back in the team causing havoc which was massively missed against Plymouth. Not heard news of any other injuries either so we may have a full team to pick from unless I'm missing anyone.

We should be winning this, sort of a home game and we're a lot better than Yeovil on paper. Zoko will cause problems, probably get a goal as well but then we'll probably score a couple at least. Hopefully Blackpool fans have a bit of sympathy and leave this one, if they do get it cancelled I hope the media come down on them hard which is very likely.

Assuming we've got a full team to pick from I'd go for:

Gillespie
Miller Atkinson Raynes Grainger
Gilliead Dicker Kennedy Sweeney
Ibehre Wyke

Scoreline: Carlisle 4 - 2 Yeovil

Hallam Hope might be available for this as well.

Don't think he'd make the first team at the moment, Wyke and Ibehre have been great when played together recently.

Fun news for Carlisle fans is, is that if they win this they get to come to Victoria Road on a Tuesday night as the 4th round clashes with our league date against you chaps :)

Still a good option to have though even if from the bench.

Anyway I don't think Ibehre will be involved this weekend. I think he'll be down south with his kid considering she has to go for checkups every day.

Nothing can ever beat Plymouth on a Tuesday. We've got a relatively big following in London, no doubt a fair few will still travel from Carlisle but most of the attendance at these games tends to be from southern based fans which makes it slightly more palatable.

Or if you beat Everton.

Fair enough he was there while she was in hospital but I think he'll want to come back for a cup match if she's at home now. Up to him of course and it depends on the nature of what his daughter was ill with, I've no doubt Curle would give him the match off again but I reckon he'll be back.

could be a good game for Hallam Hope to return in, he offers us that unquantifiable 'something different', I think had we had him available against Plymouth we might have broken through.

Gillead Wyke Hope as a front three, with Asamoah ready to come off the bench? (Assuming Jabo is sitting this one out)

Yeah Hope gives us that physical presence that we lack when Ibehre doesn't play.

I thought I'd seen earlier this week Hope's loan spell expires on Saturday? If it isn't, and he's fit, I'd probably start him too (providing Jabo isn't available).

Yeovil have picked up a few decent results in the league recently, the signing of Zoko appears to have made an impact. In the league fixture, they managed to score 2 early goals but offered little else. I'd like to think we've learned from that game.

I don't think we'll have many better opportunities to reach the 4th round than this weekend, but it'll still be a difficult game.

3-1 Carlisle
Kennedy, Raynes, Grainger
Berrett

Berrett doesn't play for them any more. He moved to York to go for the hat-trick of relegations.

You're right, I've looked and hope's loan is up on Saturday. But the way Curle was speaking he's expecting Hope to be available on Sunday so I assume some agreement has been made with Bury so that he can stay.

Hmm KC does seem to be assuming we'll have Hope, I hope he hasn't just horribly misjudged the length of the loan spell. If Jabo's back I don't think he'd start anyway but it'd be nice to have him.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
the good news is blackpool seems to be just light rain over today-tomorrow so I am quite hopeful game will be on, earlier in the week Saturday was meant to be heavy rain from 12-8pm and I thought 2 back to back matches had no chance, but the weather change has helped.

I'm really looking forward to the game myself, this is on paper the poorest of all the ties, but in practice its going to be one of the most passionately contested because defeat makes this entire FA Cup run utterly worthless for both sides, but the £70,000 plus either could make for a win could be vital for eithers League season.......we are both in crucial stages of this season where any sort've team improvement could turn the season.

In a way its abit like the Plymouth game in reverse where we may well risk a gung ho approach and take defeat than a draw, but I am not sure it'll change too much on our approach as we play that way anyway at present. Not sure if Yeovil will play for a draw or just go for it, the cup is a chance for them to try new things and see if they work.

We have been extremely long-ball, direct in recent games, we always were long ball but used to mix it with a passing game but that seems to have ended for a out and out in opponents face direct game so expect us to absolutely bombard the Yeovil box for 90 minutes with cross after cross after cross and long throws and numerous corners.

key will be of course how Yeovil handle this, its a mass of pressure, but can be very repetitive so if they handle it we'll struggle to change, but if they don't we could rip them to bits.

Hope's loan has just been extended until January 22nd.
Hopefully he'll be in the squad Sunday otherwise we'll be left hopelessly short if Jabo is still missing.
I hope Hope will maybe sign permanently after this spell. It's something I'm hoping we're trying to do now.

Scored against Plymouth

I was just at the CBS buying my tickets for this game. They've only sold about 1500 so far. Curle was there, taking an interest in ticket sales so we had a little chat about the Blackpool fans, says it doesn't sound like the sort of stuff Carlisle fans will stand for. Mark Ellis was with him, I gather they were trying to help him find accommodation.

The games I've seen he's looked an excellent player. He gives us that physical strength up front that we lack when Ibehre doesn't play

fair enough but I just felt hes not proved worth a gamble yet, an extended loan would be better, although do you not only get 3 months at most?

I am not surprised it's about 1,500 for this game, it will be 2,000......sadly cup games do not bring out the same number of fans we'd struggle for 3,000 even at Brunton Park.

if we get 2,000 plus its a good gate

Depends what we'd be paying for Hope, there's definitely a really good player in there and he's the type of player who if he hit form could probably carry that into League 1 if/when we went up. If it's a reasonable price I'd say go for it, he'll always have a bit of resale value regardless of how well he does and if we play him in the right position he could turn out to be a steal, I know Bury thought they'd pulled off a coup when they signed him from Everton.

he's had at present 1 good game.

he may have a lot of 'hope' but we've jumped the gun on many a player who had an odd good game then did nothing.

not his fault at all he's injured during his spell so I do not mind us extending at all, but I think to shove a gamble on bringing someone in who has been injured nearly 2 months is too risky.

Around 2000 sold now according to CUFC on Twitter. I think quite a few pay on the day, maybe reach 2500-3000.

Not too bad, really.

I was expecting a gate of just over a thousand. No one seems to be interested in this one despite it being, arguably, the biggest game out of the three that we're playing away from home.

Fair weather fans don't see the bigger picture about getting to a historic fourth round, just turn up based on the status of who we're playing and where we're playing.

Tonight has whetted my appetite. Hope we smash Yeovil, we need a win soon to forget about our extended break.
