They'll end up with a points deduction or something if he actually does this.

Oh goody, they can start printing one of those 'real' league tables every week like they did last time.

Confirmed they were refused entry tonight. Can't be good for the club as they have a contractual obligation.

Can see the annoyance, Derby have an extra days rest due to Sky. But the club will ultimately suffer

If Cellino is so bothered about attendances being affected, why has he put them up to £37 a game?

Now this

Wish our owner (wherever he may be) had the bollocks to tell Sky where to go.

Not sure this is for particularly altruistic reasons, more Cellino on a power trip, but fascinating to see how this plays out

Good on him!

Personally, I don't really get all of the Sky hatred. I know moving kick off times around can be a bit of a pain, but it's worth it to be able to watch a lot of different games for clubs that you'd never actually watch in person. Also - it brings an awful lot of money into the leagues (sure, most of it into the PL, but that's not Sky's fault, other broadcasters would do exactly the same) and I know clubs like us definitely wouldn't be able to compete if the finances coming into the club were from attendances / hospitality / merchandise alone.

Also - imagine what ticket prices would be like if there wasn't a cheaper alternative for people to just watch football at home.

Yes, they could charge a lot less for their services, but the same could be said about pretty much anything we buy these days...

-----------------

On the subject of Leeds, I reckon it'll be a points deduction if they do stop the cameras from coming in, otherwise it'll be a pretty hefty fine. I reckon Cellino will cave before then.

Let him get on with it, but it will be his own club that he damages in the long run.
Obviously the club will lose out on the £100,000 fee for the match and I'd be surprised if an extra 3,000 fans suddenly rushed out and got tickets to make up the shortfall, they will also get hit with a fine at the least. Does anyone think that will come out of his own pocket or will it get passed onto the fans with another pie tax and slight increase in the price of everything the club sells?
Blaming Sky for the drop in crowds when they they are charging £37 a ticket is a joke especially when most of the games where they have been televised have been away games and won't affect numbers at home games.
He might be playing a game though where he does get a slight increase in ticket sales and then allows the cameras in and says it was all a misunderstanding and still gets the extra revenue.

The situation has not changed.

Comments from Phil Hay at the Yorkshire Post...

League says Leeds will be charged with misconduct and referred to independent Football Disciplinary Commission is broadcast is blocked.

On the specifics of what penalty Leeds could face, the League says: "The FDC has a full range of sanctions at its disposal."

Apparently Sky need 3 hours to set up before fans start arriving so if they aren't let in by ~3:30 then it won't be broadcast :D

This is brilliant

Good on him.

I'm not a Leeds fan but moving games every other week must be a pain in the arse!

If £37 was bad enough, It's £42 to pay on the gate tonight

But it's Sky's fault their attendances are shit, obviously.

It's quite a sad indictment that this is considered to be such a crisis. Cellino is a wackjob and Leeds need to get rid of him asap, but I'm fully behind him on this one!

It is a tad unfair I guess when you see Leeds, us, and Forest have been on 9 times whilst Preston, Brentford, Charlton, Rotherham and MK Dons have only been on twice. But obviously Sky want games that will attract more viewers.

The mighty Rams!!!
I'm in two minds about this. Where does cellino think the majority of the money comes for paying his players...yup...sky.

I agree with his argument - sky should be far more flexible in showing a variety of games but the viewing figures when Leeds are on are ten fold when Leeds are on sky compared to say an MK Dons. It'll be interested to see if another Leeds game isn't on sky again this season.

What I don't get is the argument that is currently being sprouted about Derby having an advantage. Throughout the whole season clubs have lots of mid week games where others don't - whether that be replays, cup competitions or sky. It does give us a small advantage but I don't hear forest moaning that their opponents tonight have an extra days rest?

It's all a bit petty and shows the club up in a bad way. The tickets prices are rediculously high anyway which would put off the majority of fans anyway.
