Can't say I blame anyone of our fans who refuse to pay to watch the shit we have served up this season. Most boring team to watch in the country by a mile. 8 0-0's out of 45 games is hardly a good way to bring the crowds in.

The club have shown fuck all ambition this season by selling all of our best players without replacing them, and it's rubbing off on the fans.

I understand you've had a fair few TV games but you think your bad try being mid table in your 5th season in league one

I don't think being bad is having a great impact on the away attendances. It is just mind numbingly boring. We still had respectable attendances the season we were relegated, I think better than what we currently have

The management decisions, from top to bottom (Moxey, Morgan and Jackett can take a bow for that), the tactics, and as you say, the TV games are in my view the reasons why our away attendances are shocking.

tbf , I don't put them in the small category, just not the category of teams I mentioned, boro are a medium sized club imo
Is this the same Boro that has 60 or so seasons in the top flight and has an higher all time attendance average than 2 of the so called big five named, Forest, Derby. also wolves and Wednesday are only slightly better averages. Bye the way we have a better av than the other club listed Sheff United. We are the 16 best supported club in England on this list and that from a small town not a big city like all the rest. The bad rap we get re crowds is just not true. crowds go up when we play well down when we don't, just like almost every other club that's ever existed. That's why I like to use the long term method rather than a short time period when figures can be more easily manipulated.
I'd say all those clubs are of a decent size and surprise surprise I think Boro can sit in their company and not be dwarved.
Thankyou come on Boro!!!!.

But you have barely any other clubs near you though, therefore attracting supporters from nearby areas outside of Boro

You don't really know the north east very well do you. Ever questioned why The mags and the macums can attract such big numbers to their games. Its because once you leave the borders of Teesside heading North they are all skunks and black cats Very very few Boro
also head south out of Boro and It aint long before you hit Leeds land. We basically have to drawn nearly all our support from 3 boroughs of Teesside, Stockton Middlesbrough and Redcar. that's basically it. and wandering Geordie type can confirm this.

The population of Teesside is around 375k so that's a decent sized catchment area to be honest.

Well to enlighten you further (I do like to spread a little knowledge) there is around two and a half mill people live in the NE and about 2 mill of them live in areas that are dominated by those two ugly sisters. you also have to factor in Hartlepool and Darlo both not to big but both have their own band of devotees that reduces the pool even further.

the point is that 375 has to supply the vast majority of our support. both Manchester teams draw support from the entire country I'm sure Aston Villa at least get support from the whole of the midlands Sheffield may have only 550K but whats the population of south Yorkshire
I'm sure Both Sheffield clubs dominate these areas even with Doncaster and Rotherham, much like the ugly sister dominate the NE.

375k give or take is a large amount, South Yorkshire has three other League clubs and Chesterfield on our doorstep, within 35 miles we have both Manchester clubs and Leeds.

If we are going on that, say 10m to cover;

Manchester City
Manchester United
Leeds
Bradford
Huddersfield
Wednesday
Sheff United
Rochdale
Barnsley
Bury
Chesterfield
Rotherham
Doncaster
Bury
Bolton
Wigan
Oldham
Stockport

Not to mention Football isn't the only popular sport up here with Rugby League taking a large portion of support too.

ive got to go and I don't think we are going to reach an agreement. so finally before I go the top three have national support and some such as bury have little in the way of support so I feel my original point stands. ie we do alright from a limited pool to draw from.

But you don't have a SMALL limited pool, you have 375k to draw from at least.

Yorkshire has 10 league teams, soon to be 9 as York drop out. Yorkshire has a population of approx 5.3 million so plenty of potential fans.
Make that 11 teams if Blademan and Kevin Mac will let us back in.:2thumb:
