If anyone's interested, the top 10:

Feel they should maybe split the awards to also have a 'Defensive Player of the Year'. I know it doesn't really matter but still, goalkeepers/defenders probably deserve some recognition...

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
Pleased for Harry Arter, he often doesn't get the credit he deserves as the heartbeat of our side, and gets overlooked by the more flashy goalscoring Ritchie and Wilson. As Munkiki says, that's an overly attacking list, in fact Arter is the only remotely defensive player there.

Pleased for Pritch to get in there, would be interesting to see what we all thought if we were to put together our own list. Perhaps if it was split into the Striker / Midfielder / Defender & Goalkeeper categories.

How about a Championship XI? That way players from every position get recognition.

There always is, not sure how they are going to shoe horn the top 3 (Bamford, Murphy, Deeney) into one team though.

Will probably end up like every year where the midfield 4 are the most attacking 4 possible. Given that top 10 I think we can safely conclude that the TOTY will be:

Bamford Murphy Deeney
Pritchard Tomlin Leadbitter Ritchie

With 4 defenders and a goalie to go.

That will almost certainly be how it would pan out.

Maybe once the seasons done I'll start a thread and we can vote on our own one.

Absolutely hilarious that Richard Keogh has made that team!

Sako and Keogh probably the only ones who are questionable. The other 9 would be in my best team too.

Really? I like Russ but he's not done anything this season to warrant being in team of the year imo. Surely there have been better CBs, y'know ones that actually are CBs, this season?

Presumably they picked him because only Middlesbrough & Bournemouth have conceded fewer goals than us and he's played the most.

This team was voted for by the players, so it's who the players thought was the best they've played against.

Much prefer the players voting than the managers. Especially when managers in the Championship often don't last long enough to even play against all the teams.

Can't argue with the strikers or the midfield. Not too sure about the centre halves, would have definitely had Berra in there.

Good team although not sure about having a Derby defender in on current form!

I can only assume this vote is taken in January, which is ridiculous but is often the case with these things. Back then, I'd have very much agreed with Keogh's inclusion. Equal second best defence, and looked solid. Since February though...

Only one I could definitely commit to saying is better than Federici. Both Reading games and from a couple of highlights i've seen from others he was very good.

Henderson has been immense for us between the sticks but missed a fair chunk of the season injured. Westwood is a fair shout.

Thanks, I do find it very cringey to be honest. For instance, we don't sing about our achievements due this being 40 years ago. I just find it odd that your lot sing it so often. I honestly don't think it was that big an achievement tbh, if it was the top league, you've really got something to sing about, but records points in the second tier, nah, to me that is tinpot.

Any way, back on topic :animatedf:
I don't remember them singing it against us. Perhaps they were singing "record points" at **you** in kind remembrance of your 2007-8 PL season? I can't remember the details but it seems you got record points that season too.

It's all bullshit. My personal Championship team of the season:

"Mighty" Joe Lewis (Blackpool)
Jack Grimmer (Fulham) - Kirk Broadfoot (Rotherham) - Bar-Tab (Charlton) - Darren "O'Dea, O'Dea" O'Dea (Blackpool)
Jamie O'Hara (Blackpool) - Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe (Norwich) - Filip Twardzik (Bolton) - George Thorne (Derby County & on loan with BUPA)
Leon Clarke (Wolves) - Andy "I Don't Come for the Money" Delort (Wigan)

Subs:
Chuba "Scores When He Wants" Akbom (Forest)
Paddy Kenny (Ipswich)
Justin Hoyte (Millwall)
Any random Leeds player
Dejan Kelhar (Sheff Weds)
