hello people

I have decided to run this game that I saw in the League 2 forum either last year or the year before.

It's pretty simple, you predict the final table and get marked on it at the end of the season. If you predict Preston to finish 17th and they finish 13th you would get 4 points for how many places you were wrong. Lowest score wins. Easy.

Obviously it is very early so you can submit your table anytime up to 19:44pm on Friday 5th August.

You can PM me your table if you want or you can post it in here, I'm not fussed.

peace

Aye, I'll definitely forget if I don't do it now. To be honest, barring the top 6 or so teams I might as well have just closed my eyes and picked teams randomly.

It looks like Barnsley, Rotherham and Burton may as well have a year off judging by the predictions so far? I will wait to do mine as I reckon the financially 'not so well off' sides might have a struggle on their hands but I will wait and see what transpires over the next month transfer wise. There are a couple that have lost their parachute payments that might be worth thinking about IMHO.

Difficult to predict in the middle and there's always a shock somewhere but I think the 3 that went up were expected to be in the top 6 at the beginning of last season and as a result I can't see many teams who weren't in the top 6 last season troubling them this season unless the wolves deal comes off.

Newcastle
Norwich
-------------------
Wednesday
Brighton
Derby
Wolves
-------------------
Ipswich
Wigan
Brentford
Birmingham
Leeds
Aston villa
Qpr
Preston
Fulham
Reading
Bristol city
Forest
Huddersfield
Barnsley
Blackburn
----------------
Burton
Cardiff
Rotherham

Think villa will struggle early on but pick up as the season goes on, can see Cardiff struggling with their appointments and Rotherham don't seem to want to spend anything so I can't see them improving

£14 billion pounds richer, making 20m bids for players and some of you have us to finish 16th-20th?

I will enjoy revisiting this thread at the end of the season.

Let's be realistic. As we stand right now, with no takeover, Ken as manager and this threadbare squad, we are in serious danger of being relegated next season.

As we stand we're midtable. With the takeover set to be announced in the coming days/weeks we'll have the financial power to blow every club in this division and majority of the PL out of the water.

Hopefully we'll not do a QPR with it.

Midtable is generous.. we've got the same squad as last season minus Afobe, minus McDonald (most likely be off), minus Williamson.. there is zero depth there at all. One fit senior striker at the club! I wouldn't start going on about the takeover yet, and if it does happen we'll be left with barely any time to sign new players and preseason will have been a complete write off. I'm worried as we stand right now, very worried.

Afobe has been gone since January, we've played half the season without him. Williamson played 5 games for us last season so it's not like we have to adapt on whether he plays or not. McDonald I kind of agree about. Technically he is the best midfielder we have by quite a long way. I certainly hope the new regime gives him a chance, as getting rid of him will be up there with the stupidest decisions Jackett has made for the club.

We will sign players no question. The reason why there is no transfer news at the moment is because were in the middle of a takeover process. When the takeover is completed expect us to be throwing money all over the place. We'll be able to hand pick any player from any team in this league that we want.

The sooner the process is over the better. It's unfair that many players and staff are in limbo regarding their futures.

Yes we had half the season without him, that half of the season was 4 wins in 25 games - relegation form. That purple patch over Christmas and Afobe's goals are the only reason we're still a championship team now and not a division 1 team. Without Afobe's goals where would we have been? If we'd had Sigurdarson up top all season we'd have gone down most likely! We don't have the get out of jail card this time, and we can't rely on Dicko's fitness.

Yes but what if the takeover collapses? Or say it isn't completed till the transfer window shuts? Then what? There is no loan window and the new manager has to use the threadbare squad we currently have now. As we stand right now, we are favourites for relegation, 100%.

I'd be curious to see of how many of 8 or 9 goals he scored won us points, I doubt it was that many last season.

I repeat, we will sign players, takeover or not. Without a takeover we will have another season like last where bugger all happens. With a takeover we become the one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe. Both outcomes we will sign players before the window closes, just the quality will differ. Ideally we all want the takeover to happen as soon as possible, but there is no need to panic in the middle of July.

If the takeover doesnt happen we won't sign, Morgan has no interest.

You're in danger of turning into an arrogant tosser regarding this purposed takeover, Mark. Chill out a bit.

Young lad asks his parents for a ps4 for Christmas. Next day, he gets home from school to find a ps4 sized box, wrapped, placed strategically under the Christmas tree. Excited, the boy asks his mum "did you get me a games console?"...."Yes" his mother proudly responds.

The boy then spends the build-up to Chrimbo, chatting to his pals about ps4's, online gaming etc, and browsing new games for his new beast. Occasionally sniggering at kids who only have ps3's.

Christmas morning arrives, the boy races down the dancers, sprints into the front room and begins tearing into his presents; leaving his console 'til last.

Finally, he turns to the box, slowly starts to unwrap it, hands quivering with delight....only to find, to his horror, his parents have gone and bought him a Sega Megadrive.

I hope for your sake you don't turn out to be that boy Marky.

With all respect Mark, people can only predict on the present, not what might happen in the future. The take over isn't signed and sealed yet so people are doing their predictions on what clubs have at the moment.
You do realise that once you have money, you will be quoted stupid prices, especially as you will be in a hurry IF the take over happens.
As you could be very rich soon, we would, for example, want £30M from you for Kodjia, £10M to anyone else but you would be loaded and in a hurry so we could ask for an obscene price. :)
It won't be as easy as you seem to think IMO.

It's one thing having money, it's another getting players in, we were bidding £7m-£9m last season but couldn't get them to sign. Get the players in and it probably would be a different story in terms of predicting.

I once told my family how grateful I was for receiving a CD player for Christmas (this was the 90s) and then it was just the box with a football inside. Thanks for reminding me.
