A big game, especially after West Brom beating the Spuds. A draw and we're guaranteed top 4. I'll take that result right now, but a win obviously better as we're then guaranteed 3rd with a win against Bournemouth. 3rd or 4th no different this season but obviously the former better than the later.
Think this has a draw all over it myself though, with Salah taking the league scoring record in a 38 game season against his old club.
After we’ve squandered a few decent chances and Courtois has made a few decent saves Giroud gets his one chance and scores. Chelsea won’t exactly go forward more now.
The fact Chelsea did fuck all and still deserved to win tells you everything you need to know. In short, we were shit. There is no point in having the lion's share of possession if you do fuck all with it.
Not happy, obviously. What a great fucking time to go on a points drought. It's ridiculous to think that after beating Bournemouth 3-0 at home 4 weeks ago, we'd end up going into the final game likely needing a win to guarantee Champions League next season. I can't see Huddersfield getting anything against the Tarquins and after seeing our quality over the last 3 games I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us needing Rafa to do a number on them on the final day to get his old club CL next season because there are no guarantees for us against Brighton. Or us needing to beat Real to qualify as Champions.
Oh they will be up for it next week no doubt, as usual they let it fester until the last game; which pisses me off more, because they only needed a draw today and were jogging around as if it was the first game of preseason.
We were in the exact same situation last year, having to win at home to Middlesbrough on the final day of the season. And considering we've made it to the final of the Champions league with pretty much no cover for the starting XI, it could be worse. Most of our starting XI has played non-stop twice a week for a month, it takes its toll.
