Well that was totally deserved.

Well Zlatan wasn't wrong was he? Terry was the biggest baby last night and somehow he defends his and his team mates actions. (And people want him back in the England team!!)
Re Zlatan; red card hasn't been rescinded. So will miss Atleast 1 QF match.

Had the same reaction. I'd bite someone's hand off for Luis and Zouma at Arsenal.
You two obviously have season tickets at Chelsea and watch these players every week?

Zouma is young, he has plenty of potential but he's got mistakes in him. Luis is a decent left back...not great though and that's the point I'm getting at....We can certainly do better.

Am I right in thinking this is the first time ever in world football history that a group of players have surrounded a referee?

It's absolutely hilarious how much we're hated.

If you're expecting to have world class players in every position in your reserves then you may be asking just a little too much. There's not a club in the world who have ever had that.

No, but we obviously have a far better grasp of the quality of your bench compared to the majority of other teams than you do.

You're missing the point. But since you're unable to understand what people tell you, do your best to follow my instructions:

1. Count the number of outfield players wearing a Chelsea kit in the picture.
2. Google "surrounding the referee".
3. Count how many of these pictures include the same number as the one with Chelsea.

Once you've done that, you'll notice it's not hatred but simply that it's very uncommon for a team to act in the same way as Chelsea did.

As always, good luck!

So it's the first time ever a full team has surrounded a referee?

Are you that sad? Does anyone give a shit if it was 11 players or 5 players? Who the fuck cares?

You aren't quite as hated as us yet.

Ye...it's almost like all these gooners and scousers just can't handle clubs far more successful than their own. Poor souls, last night meant more to them than anything their clubs have done this season.

No I can....I just don't remember you ever getting your knickers in a twist when you claimed it's happened before. Maybe you're obsessed, I don't know.

This season in all comps:
Diego Costa (£32m) - 17 goals, 3 assists.
Giroud (£12m) - 13 goals, 3 assists & he was out injured for 3 months.
Kane (£0m) - 16 goals, 3 assists (just in the Premier League)

Costa hasn't scored or assisted anything this season in the CL. :dk:

Jamie Carraghers take on surrounding the ref.

“The reaction from the Chelsea players is disgraceful and it’s sad. It’s something that’s coming into the game and it comes from Jose Mourinho’s teams. They have this reaction, it’s not a one-off."
“Maybe what he’s said beforehand in the press conference has gone into the referee's head."
“I always think with Jose Mourinho’s teams, they will always be respected but they will never be loved because of situations like this. They take winning to a level that no other team or manager does."
“You see the reaction of some of the players and it has definitely played a part – and Mourinho’s words have worked.”

On an unrelated noted.

Yes, directly comparable.

Seem to remember Carragher's importunate whining at a ref to get a player sent off in the CL final.

His comments are fine, as it goes. He's just a massive hypocrite.

How is it not comparable? It's insane how much attention this incident is getting. Ref bothering is a recurring theme within the game, not something unique to one club. Anyone who suggests otherwise is being hugely disingenuous.

It's almost as if it's acceptable when only 4/5 players.

There are obviously similarities but directly comparable? One incident is an entire team badgering and pressuring a referee into getting an opposition player sent off. The other is less than a handful of players questioning what looks to be a decision to give a penalty or a free kick. Can you recall that ever resulting in a referee changing his mind?

Is Carragher a hypocrite? Of course he is, he's a footballer. And it isn't unique to one club, I never suggested it was. But Chelsea and Mourinho teams are renowned for it. And last night was the worst case I can remember seeing since the old United/Keane days.

Posing this as a question when you're the only person to have mentioned it?
It was bad and it needs to be stamped out, the respect campaign clearly as fuck all effect. The only way I can see it being stopped is if the ref is allowed to hand out cards. Fines and leaving it up to the good nature of players/managers will never work.

Yet somehow it's completely merited.
You know what I care very little. I expect you felt the same way when everyone hated (most still do) you through the Fergie years.

Chelsea have slowed down a hell of a lot this year, though. Fabregas was a passenger yesterday, and Costa's goals have dried up. What's happened there? On Sky they were talking about Mourinho not liking to rotate too much, is that backed up by facts? Are they just tired?

They look dead on their feet to me and I can't help but think that squad mismanagement has played a part in that. While there's a lot to be said for a settled line-up, it obviously becomes harder and harder to execute the high-tempo pressing game that Mourinho favours once tiredness starts to creep in, and tiredness has been allowed to creep in because he's rotated the squad so seldomly - across the four competitions Chelsea have been involved in just 13 outfield players have started 10 games or more.

What's particularly problematic is that so few players are contributing in a meaningful way to scoring or creating opportunities. With Fabregas having gone off the boil and the goals having dried up for Costa, we're basically looking to Hazard, who remains one of Chelsea's few consistent performers, to come up with a bit of magic or for one of our defenders to convert from a set-piece. I think to some extent this is a personnel problem - you can have as much flair and creative ability as it's possible to possess but if you don't work damn hard and carry out your defensive duties you have no place in a Mourinho side. It's not necessarily a bad philosophy but I think it's left us short of the sort of players that might be able to unlock a defence - I'm not sure they were the best fit for Chelsea but I do find it a bit galling to see the likes of De Bruyne and Salah racking up the goals and assists elsewhere.

I feel that Mourinho's whole approach was left a bit wanting last night - the lack of ambition shown when playing against a side with ten men was really disappointing to witness. He's a great pragmatist but when the stakes are high he always errs on the side of caution - rather than have the confidence in his team to finish off the game, to impose themselves on the opposition, he'd sooner they try to nullify their strengths, restrict their opportunities, lock out a game. But this season has shown that to be a risky strategy - we've lost leads, dropped points, got knocked out of tournaments playing that way. We've surrendered leads against United, City x 2 and against PSG. We've neither been efficient enough on the counter or strong enough at the back to pull the strategy off. He's a fantastic manager in a great many ways but I think this game really ought to give him food for thought.

Letting De Bruyne go was foolish. He's better than Oscar and warrants a spot in the Chelsea starting XI.

I just don't think this Chelsea team is as good as people make it out to be. They look much better than the rest in the league because the rest have all been mediocre. Maybe this shows the premier league has fallen behind the rest, La Liga and maybe even Bundesliga.

This Chelsea team would have probably finished 3rd last season.
