Will we have a team for this who knows after the firesale got under way - could well lose Morsy this week too which will be the end of us this seaosn in my eyes as the whole team is built aorund us.

If we dont get 3/4 good players in this week the 23/10 on Barnsley is value.

Really looking forward to this, after last season i'm really going into this one full of confidence. The team should be something like this:

Lee
Darikwa Evatt Hird Jones
Morsy Ryan
O'Shea Roberts Clucas
Doyle

Hold on............ah shit, sorry, my bad, Just feeling a little nostalgic.

Barnsley win.

With your team from last season dismantled and a less than reputable manager in charge, I'd be going into this one full of confidence. Problem is Saunders' and his band of Crawley cloggers smashed us twice last season, he seems to have our number, and we were poor at the Proact last season. We've a very different side this time though, one without wasters like Lita, Treacy and Jennings. We're supposed to be getting a striker in for 400k before the weekend but even with that potential addition I'd expect us to line up a bit like this, maybe Pearson where Scowen is and Scowen where Watkins is if not:

A very young (Nyatanga the oldest at 26) but talented side who if they click will do well this season. Will be a full away end like last season (although we've not been given the bit down the side again due to "after match problems" last time) and I can't wait to begin drinking in some of Chesterfield's fine ale pubs. 3 points would make the day even better but I'm just delighted that the drudgery of pre season is nearly over and the away days can begin again.

Mate's birthday celebrations on Saturday so I think I'll just get in a mess and not take much of an interest in this one.

Actually starting to feel a little sorry for Saunders, he's been hung out to dry here.

He sounded borderline depressed in his interview.

Wouldn't be surprised if the poor bugger walked.

Still, you never know, but we have a proper hard start.

All this negativity from the Chesterfield fans surely means they'll batter us senseless.... hahaha only joking and that, comfortable away win on the cards here.

So, the new season is almost here and we enter it with a squad that's lost Four quality first team players and they have not been replaced.

The best starting 11, for me, would be the following: Depends on the Formation DS will be playing.

Lee
Talbot Evatt Hird Jones
Morsy Banks
Gardner O'Shea Ariyibi
Ebanks-Blake

Banks as a holding midfielder scares me,

Ha! Barnsley fell right into the trap. Selling all our players to make them think we are shit and then catch them by surprise!

Honestly that was a lot better then i'd thought it would be. After they scored early it was pretty much all Town and a much deserved win in the end. Sam Morsy should be offered a 10-year contract on 100k a week because basically he's now doing the job of two men, Ollie Banks is not the answer to any question....

We were tremendous second half. Expected Barnsley to put up more of a fight but once we equalised it was pretty much one way traffic.

Season over. Don't know how we'll recover from this with 45 games left and all that transfer window.

What is this wizardry Dean Saunders casts on his teams when they play us? Donny, Crawley (twice) and now Chesterfield look as awful as expected early on, we miss a load of chances and then they become competent, hard working sides that we've never got an answer to. Still, if Winnall had buried his one on one at 1-0 then I think we'd have gone on to win handsomely. As it happened, he toe-poked it into the keepers hands and we just sat back and let Chesterfield compose themselves after that. We were seriously lacking width throughout, but I think once Ryan Williams is fit and we've an actual RB playing at RB then we'll get better. Chesterfield lacked quality but worked hard and deserved their win. Had a good day on the ale so not going to mope too much over the result, 45 games left for me to do that.

Not the game i saw at all.

Awful early on? poor defending for your goal but we looked extremely comfortable from that point on. And lacked quality? nah, not true, your expectations of League 1 seem to be too high.

We played pretty well today and you were just beaten by the better team on the day.

Not denying that at all.
If you work as hard as that in most games this season you'll do well. I'm well aware of what League One has to offer and I should have mentioned I meant compared to your side last season. Although that left winger, Ariyibi I think, looks a player.

Enjoyed the match for what it was today, reading nothing further into it. we're still 3 or 4 players short, our options on the bench looked pretty grim. I've said we won't go down despite a few fans of other clubs suggesting we might really struggle but at the same time i don't reckon we'll be troubling the top 10 either. Somewhere in the middle which would be totally fine.

So England well and truly roger the much-fancied Aussies then Tairn deliver an unexpected shafting of their own.

Who'd 'a' thought it?

Far more direct than under Cook but not in a 'hoofball' kinda way. Infact the second half performance made Barnsley look ponderous and uncertain.

Still need quality in several areas to really challenge, though.

Ariyibi is lightning quick with good feet. Add an end product on a consistent basis and he can go far. Barely got a look in last season so we didn't really get to see what he was capable of.

Chesterfield were favourites with all the bookies for this.

God knows why! We've lost most of our best players! Ariyibi came in for Roberts yesterday though and was massive. Barnsley started to double up on after half an hour and he only seemed to get better

I thought SEB had a good game too. He held the ball up superbly well and his layoff to JayO for the first was lovely; the easy pass there is back onto the wing and run into the box, but he's got that extra touch of class to turn and have a look around. He's not been top scorer in the league above twice for nowt
