Well, a few weeks ago things looked really bleak for Chesterfield. But they've turned things around in amazing fashion, going unbeaten in 5 and picking up 11 from 15. They are in top form and will fancy themselves to win this game. Walsall though could be a different beast now that they've sacked their charming, charismatic, under-appreciated manager Sean 'total football' O'Driscoll. Seriously though, Whitney and his staff could turn their flagging promotion chase around, so this game is a total unknown. Good luck guessing the outcome of this one.

Form:
Chesterfield: LDWWDW
Walsall: LDLDDL

Recent meetings:
25 Oct 2014 Walsall 1-0 Chesterfield League One
28 Mar 2015 Chesterfield 1-0 Walsall League One
17 Oct 2015 Walsall 1-2 Chesterfield League One
05 Dec 2015 Chesterfield 1-1 Walsall FA Cup
15 Dec 2015 Walsall 0-0 Chesterfield FA Cup

Despite it being at home I'm genuinely confident about Saturday. We even managed to win there with crackpot Saunders in charge so this should be easy.

4-1 Spireites, Novak hat-trick. 7,077 there.

We might win this one.

But it could be a draw.

Or we may even lose.

Christ knows what team will turn up.

I have a nagging Spireite feeling that our recent good form may be due a setback or two...

Could do with Chesterfield keeping up their form here.

2-0 Walsall, Whitney to play Rico Henry, Tom Bradshaw, Jordi Hiwula and Romaine Sawyers all in the same team.

You might as well flip a coin in this one.

Chesterfield in form, us woefully out of form. New manager syndrome and someone in control of us who saw the early season, knows the players, the staff and club inside out, Chesterfield perhaps only another bad patch away from looking over their shoulders big time again. They beat us at the Bescot whilst we were in good form, although we didn't deserve to lose..are they a becoming a proper bogey team? Could you say we owe them one?

God knows. I would take a 1-0 win off Downings arse cheek in the 102nd minute.

My team..

MacGillivray

Downing
O'Connor
Taylor

Demetriou
Mantom
Chambers
Henry

Sawyers

Hiwula
Bradshaw

Bradshaw needs help. Henry MUST play. Etheridge is conceding one shit goal per game that I could save.

Feels a bit like Shrewsbury after Smith left this one. Even though our following will be shit numbers wise, I'm expecting it to be quite vocal as normal on the road. We were very loud at Shrewsbury in November.

We're gonna give you a fisting today.

Not heard a peep out of any away fans this season apart from Oldham & Coventry so good luck with that.

Fisting in a football sense. A good beating up as it were. Just had 4-1 at 66/1.

2 early chances spooned, 80% possession.

Sounds familiar.

Goals are all that matters.

That went pretty well.

I don't know what happened in the scuffle after the goal but if Donohue has done something he absolutely didn't need to, then i hope the club fine the shit out of him.

He's apparently pleading innocence. Walsall fans will be better placed to see what happened. If he did something I hope it was worthwhile and not something pathetic.

I thought it was Hird who got caught up in the celebrations for Walsall's second and started getting a bit irate.

Ah well, whatever. Definitely a day to forget. We were second best all over and they fully deserved the win.

Well, here is a funny notion for a Mr O'Driscoll. Play the correct side...in it's correct formation...(one that was top of the league when he took over) and shock horror..you beat a side 4-1 away from home, when they themselves had been on a good run.

Hard to see really from the highlights what happens with the red card.

That being said...some of our attacking 1 touch football is a throwback to the early half of the season. One move in the first half where Mantom volleys wide would have been spectacular goal and another for the 4th in the second half. Great save from Lee to deny Hiwula with a header? Chessie should have had another late on.

823 isn't a bad following, did we make ourselves heard? Had to follow via Twitter and updates from Geosaddler as I was at work. Nice to finally get one over on Chesterfield, been a proper bogey side just recently.

The red card and scoreline was massively required to rocket the confidence back up to where it was.

Get in you super saddlers!

I wouldn't call it loud but I was worried I was going to have to explain what 'wanky wanky' meant to my six year old (I was sat to your left due to a school's ticket offer).

What the fuck is that song though? Do you often get confused with those from Shrewsbury?

Wanky wanky tends to be followed by Wanderers!

Shrewsbury are the sheep shagging bastards!

Silly billy.

Why were their players trying to scrum Sam Hird after scoring? Bizarre.

poor following - if it turns out to be true that nothing happened with the sending off (alleged punch wise) and it costs us...a cloud of catshit over all your houses

My dad said he saw Dion Donohue swing a punch at Demtetriou. I didn't see it but I was focusing on the tussle between Lee, your number 4 and Sawyers.

Seen it on sky sports...the incident slowed down and shown. The CFC defender tries to completely deck Demetriou. As deserved a red card as you will ever see. The defender then pushes one of the coaches as he walks down the tunnel. Will see if I can find footage. I'd be fuming if one of my defenders did that, especially as the original incident is absolutely nothing to do with him. Brainless. Potentially cost his team big there, although we were already winning by that point.
