I still think our collapse against Morecambe was worse than the Chesterfield collapse.

3-1 up against 10 men with 3 mins plus stoppage time and we still ended up losing 4-3!

Yep ... That's definitely worse than our 0-3 at half time then losing 4-3 against them :D

Hahahahahahahahahaha. That Morecambe game was hilarious. There were a load of Crewe fans in the pub by the bridge (I think it was by a bridge) just sat in total silence.

Wasn't at the 5-5, but was at the Morecambe one. Don't think I've ever left a football ground so angry.

Wasn't that the game that Gradi spent the week watching VHS of the penalty incident 'frame by frame' against us in fury at the referee apologising rather than worrying about getting his team ready to focus on the next game?!

Yeah, look at Dario mentioning it 3 days after the game.

And yet, here you are bringing it up in an entirely irrelevant thread just five years after the 50-50 penalty decision.

Dario is definitely the one who looks silly here.

Looking at the team without Grant, so so lightweight in the middle, we'll get completely run over today.

Chesterfield fans really like wearing Chesterfield tops don't they? They've all got one on. Gimps.

Very comfortable so far, and we should be 2 or 3 up rather than 1. Hopefully more of the same 2nd half and we should take the points

We should have scored all the goals in the world there. Thank god we didn't get undone at the end.
The fates are aligning for our 4th trip to MK :D

The most comfortable 1-0 I've ever seen. If we could shoot it would have been four or five.

Brilliant performance.

But 1-0, just how?

Shame about the poor effort from the Chesterfield public.

I was disappointed it wasn't more. We'll probably take the best part of 50% of the home crowd to Barnsley next week though.

Ikpeazu looked a shadow of the player that terrorised us when he played for Doncaster ... what's up there ...

They don't come much easier than us. To be fair didn't think we looked too bad until you scored, then we were utterly terrible.

There's always the feeling that Crewe are slightly soft-centred.

Wasn't at the game but was baffled by the official chesterfield twitter who constantly described us as "dangerous" and was "quite impressed by Crewe" these couldn't have been further from the vibes I was getting from people there.

First fifteen minutes I thought you moved the ball fairly well and were going to be a threat to us.

We are supposed to be known for our passing football and technically able footballers. Yet we've now become a team which is nervous in possession.

Biggest difference today was fitness though. Chesterfield have had a punishing schedule over the last couple of weeks and they were pressing right till the end. We on the other hand looked out of puff with 20 minutes still to go. Absolutely appalling.

Thought we gave as good as we got in the first half, had a number of half decent openings, Inman shot well wide then forced a save out of Lee, Uche shot not far wide from a good break. But as per usual, as soon as we go a goal down we have no mental strength to turn a game round. Mentally weak, stemming from our defeatist negative manager who hasn't got a clue how to coach players to score a goal, he just stands on the touchline and prays for one of the players to do something. If they can't do anything, he hasn't got a fooking clue. We score goals not down to tactics but down the players making it happen by themselves. If we stay up, it will be entirely down to the players, Davis doesn't deserve one iota of credit.

You want the most damming stat from this season, its this: This season, we have scored 37 goals from 41 games. The lowest total we've managed in the 33 years previous was 46 and that was when we were in the championship. Even under Steve Holland we scored 47 in his only full season. So Davis is on course to be in charge of the lowest scoring season in 33 years. His style of play is totally at odds with the academy philosophy, which is to attack and score goals. Why did we take 800 to Man City in the FA Youth Cup? Because the fans are so starved of entertainment and goals with the first team, they get attracted to the free scoring youth team. Fans will turn up and watch good football. I dread to see our crowds next season if we go down and keep Davis in charge.

Anyway, second half we went to pot. A lack of fitness showed through, as did the total lack of tactics and direction from the touchline. I mean, the bloke just stood in his technical area in the last 20 minutes watching us get battered and he did nothing. For some reason, we took Uche off and then didn't bring Haber on until there were a few minutes to go. Clueless, simple clueless.

As for Chesterfield, they played some really pleasing football and look good bets for the play offs. Whether they will have enough firepower upfront against the better teams is another matter, they were badly wasteful today, missed 4 or 5 guilt edged chances in the 2nd half. But they were miles better than us organisationally as a team, technically as individuals, tactically as a manager and physically fitness wise. Best of luck to them in their play off push.

Atkinson is fucking wank. We missed Grant so much it's untrue.

The thing that bugs me is that at the start of the season we had a squad that was blatantly full of shit, player for player one of the worst we've had in 30 years. But I'm not accepting the likes of Ajose, LDV, Uche, Colclough, Ness, even Inman are poor players at this level, they should be able to muster up more than one half arsed attempt on target.
