I keep believing.

If I'm wrong about this 2 seasons running, Steve will roast me on the guillotine.

Pep's now gone 4 home games in the league without a win. And I was surprised to see City have only kept 2 clean sheets under Pep in the league.

Insane amounts of money have been spent on that City defence, and it is still a laughing stock.

They'll probably find enough loose change down the back of the sofa in January to pick up Van Dijk I suppose.

He is a strong defender with decent technique but I'm not sure if he would be a sexy enough signing for City and Guardiola. I reckon they'd rather overpay for a hipster's choice like Laporte.

Any manager coming into the PL who thinks it is more important that his defenders and goalkeeper can have the ball at their feet instead of stopping the opposition scoring is always going to struggle

They're terrible aren't they. Bad call sorry guys.

'Terrible' is probably a bit harsh. A club like Swansea could be classed as 'terrible' and I am not sure Man City have plunged those depths just yet

Perhaps he was referring to the source of their finances.

I still find it amazing when United fans talk about other clubs using money to buy success.

Which United fan has done that in this thread?

I mentioned the money City had spent on their defence and how it's done nothing to improve it but made no comment about them "buying success" and, as far as I can see, no other United fan has done that in here either.

We spent £90m on Pogba for fuck sake!

City are far from done though, once Gabriel Jesus joins in January they will step it up; the guy is a monster of a forward.

I don't know much about him, do you reckon he'll go straight into the first eleven?

I've been watching him with Brazil recently and he is fantastic, a real handful and a hungry talented player and thats dangerous. To start with I'm not sure he'll go straight into the first 11, but he will be ahead of Iheanacho in the pecking order from the off. I can see after half a dozen games though he'll be pushing to get in there if Guardiola likes him which he should do.

Attacking is not the problem for City, unless he can play CB City still have the same problem. Kompany still hasn't been replaced and they've got rid of Hart for a worse keeper.

Gabby J is awesome. He can partner Aguero, replace him or play wide. If he can take a kicking he'll tear teams apart.

Certainly a step up on Gabby A. Imagine the improvement by the time we get the Z model.

Agree with that about the defense (though Hart isn't still all that great tbh) and is why I think they'll buy there again in January for someone like Van Dijk.

Vidic, arguably one of our best players this century, cost us about half of what Ibe cost Bournemouth.
Liverpool got Matip for a free while Chelsea paid over 30 million for Shevchenko.

Yeah, let's compare two transfers a decade apart and pretend the comparison holds any relevance whatsoever.

They're both transfers, and that was an example. Would you like more?

You're comparing two transfers and using the contrast in cost to highlight the ultimate value of one of them. But the transfers took place in two completely different eras of transfer costs which renders the comparison moot.
